I am really glad you did a review on this and showed the app! this has been the BEST review of the camera that actually shows what functions, size and capabilities the cam and app has. you answered all of my questions and I thumbed up, subscriber also! I wish this camera came in black tho! I don't want to pay extra for pro version which is pretty much exactly the same. I really like samsung but will be the first to admit the cameras look like toys. lol
Great review. I just ordered the Samsung SmartCam. I was looking at the DropCam Pro but decided on the SmartCam Pro because I didn't want to pay the outrageous monthly fees!!!
Very good review! We were thinking about getting the Dropcam Pro to use as a baby monitor. We like the quality of the Dropcam, and but don't love the subscription fees. One question: Do you have a sense of the video delay, i.e. if you're on the same network how much of a delay between the live event and the video on your device? Thanks again!
This video is 3 years old and this SmartCam looks awesome. I'm going to look for a more recent video too and hope it's even better! Or hope they didn't remove some of these cool features. I am going to hook it up to my SmartThings kit.
Thanks Alexander for sharing this. I have question. When overwriting does it start from overwriting the first clip recorded? or it just overwrite the whole SD at once?
I saw this at costco, do I need internet or wifi to view live streaming to my phone. I need something like this to monitor my living room apartment when im not home. thanks
very good review... however, no mention on how easy it is to install? Can you hard wire the system... how many cameras can you install. thanks , great JOB!
Great review...I would like to know how to connect with the camera through the internet browser. The website ask for an internet browser update to view the camera, but there isn't any available through Google Play for IE or Chrome for this camera.
Hi, Thanks for the great Run-through. QUICK QUESTION: Does the software support uploading to any kind of cloud account where event videos can be uploaded as well ?
Just got this and love it but do you if there is a way for the camera to show if it is being watched. When my wife and I are home it would be nice to see if the camera is being active or not.
great reveiw .just wanted to ask if i have this on contstant record and wanted to watch an alert will it allow me to veiw the recording of the alert only, or do i have to scroll through all the recordings
A few things, but first great info thanks, now, on the sd card what is the max size it will take? and did I here you have dealt with other surveillance equipment ?
I only have two question regarding this. Does it have higher than 20fps and can you have it connected via ethernet cable instead of WiFi? I'm looking for a camera mainly for my cats at home but also just in general in case something does happen. I don't like the monthly subs but I do want a camera that can record to storage (USB HDD or SD-card) and have a live view option as well. All the features are nice on this. How much video is a 32/64GB card good for? Do you find you have to delete everything every day? Thanks a lot for a thorough video, much appreciated!
Thanks Alexander, this is a great video and very helpful particularly when it can be quite daunting trying to find a good surveillance system. How much recording time does 32GB give you?
Hi. I need your help because on my iPhone i can only see the live video when i m conected to the same wifi that the camera is conected. It does not work with LTE. What should i do? Thanks.
Alexander, great video. I would like to know if two people (my wife and I) can receive the notifications at the same time, or it is just for one user. tks
how was the actual set up of the camera? any wires connected besides a power source? assume it doesnt need ethernet connection and can hook up to wifi.
nice didn't know i could do so much . now i am thinking that this would go great with some kind of smart home security system what do you think .. and can you see the sd card on line or do you have to pull it out to see it
Question: I am trying to decide between this and Dropcam pro. I like the SD card option for this but am curious if the pictures are saved just to the sd card, what if someone breaks in and smashes the camera or takes the sd card out. Would that footage be gone? Is there a way to automatically send photos/videos/motion to a cloud server for example?
You know it says it works with smart things and it does it at all or is it the Samsung hub third generation that it won’t work with? Did it only work with the second generation hub? I have two of these cameras which I love and I had just purchased a Samsung hubThird generation and it will not let you install it on there nor can you see it as a camera that even exists, just the new SmartCam. Do you know anything of this please? Thank you. I hope I said that right
I am planning to buy this camera for my house in the philippines so i can monitor things there. do you know what is the minimum speed that this camera will work decently? Also, does this ip camera continuously using data even if no one is viewing or it just use data when it is viewed? I really can't decide if i am getting the drop cam or this one.
How well does the motion detection work on this camera? I have the Nest camera and the motion detection literally sucks. I chose the area to detect motion and yet I constantly get notifications from Nest even though there was nothing. Worse part about this is I prepaid one year in advance for the crappy service. Never again...
Excellent video, thanks for sharing. How are video captures moved from the HD card to Google Picasa? Can this be accomplished remotely via smartphone or iPad?
So far as I know, you log into google from the app, and as long as you have wifi in the house the camera will automatically upload pictures to google picasa.
Thank you ! That is a very nice review! I purchased this to send it to the Philippines I would like to ask if it works there they have 3.mbps and router I would like to be able to see them through my imac here. Do you think it will work ?
Hi Alex. Tks great video. I am looking for a camera that will allow me to view outside through a window, while placing the camera inside the house. Do you perhaps know if the camera and IR functionality will work through the glass?
You'll want to place it at an angle against the glass so it does not reflect directly back. It won't work really well, but some of the light may get through. However, Samsung also has an outdoor wireless camera.
how are you capturing the video from the iphone to make this review video? being able to transfer captured video from the camera storage to my PC/mac is a pretty important feature for me.
Hi...Are you able to record to the cloud with this product???...cos am thinking if a thief clocks that hes been spotted,he can just simply rip off the cam off the wall along with the sdcard that's got the proof of footage in it. thanks
you can save the pictures on a Picasa account but i don't think (or i didn't find out yet) that you can save the recorded videos that are on the SD card. Btw I agree about the fact that the thief can leave with the SD but It alerts you by mail as soon as it detects motion so i hope you have to call and get the cops at your home asap...
yoyoatpgm let me know when you figure this one out. I am trying to get the file however it is formatted on the SD card to save some of today's footage and I can't figure it out. I know the compression but haven't figured it out from there as of yet.
Quick question: when you get the memory filled up, can you delete the files remotely from the mobile application? Or you need to unplug the memory stick and do it in your PC?
Hi, you can choose in SmartCam options to automatically erase on the SD when the camera is filming while the SD is full. You can also format the SD from the options on your laptop, but i don't know if it's possible to do that from the mobile app. I'd say there's no need to unplug the SD whether you want to copy videos on your laptop. I bought the 6440n, but i didn't find out what is the difference with the 6410n. Even though, it's a really great camera that relieves me after i've been burgled... Sorry for my english, i'm french
Hello Alexander, thank you for the great review. I have a question and hoping you can help me. We bought this camera to monitor my child in his room and I would like to monitor another room in the house. Do I just need to buy another one and add it to the app, is it possible? Does it need to be the same exact camera? Thank you very much!
You can have multiple different cameras connected to one app. In my setup, I had two Samsung Pros, one Samsung Plus, and two Outdoor HD camras that I could view and control from the app. Hope that helps!
Can I control the position and movement of this Samsung camera from my iphone while out of the home? Also, I know your demo was comparing the Samsung to Dropcam... What is your opinion on the Foscam products? Thanks appreciate your feedback! Revenue
Correct. You can set it up to record on motion detection, sound detection, or continuous. It uses infrared light at night and still records motion detection.
Hi sir can you tell me which app need to download for this game? Because I try to match app and see videos no one tell name of app if you have any link, please send.
Great review, you never gave a tutorial on the Network, a lot of people have a problem in this area. Especially if you have to port forward through the router
I know that it operates via WIFI and the information provided my Samsung states you can view live cam from "anywhere". If I am out of town...how do I view the live feed?
Hello sir happy to see this so long after but I can’t seem to find the right app or doing something not right and can’t connect my samsung snh-c6410bn even wired to the router any chance you can help me thank you so much ❤
Great video and thanks Alex, Can you tell me what the warranty time is for this camera? I like the app features and the SD card slot. I was going to get a NEST but then started to watch other videos like yours and I am considering this camera.
hi, please can somebody help me. i bought this camera over a week ago and it worked fine and i noticed for the past 4 days my event alarm where it stores the pictures captured are no longer showing instead i have a blank grey box with no image in it. i thought it was my wireless connection that dropped hence it didn't capture anything. I even resetted my camera to factory settings to make it work but i still cannot get any images captured in the event alarm. However i can see the camera live as it is working totally fine apart from capturing and showing the images....
Hi there, can I use this camera with batteries, cause where I need to put it there's no mains socket. I'm just hoping your going to say yes because this looks a grate little camera.
I wish I could but I'm afraid not. It relies on a power adapter for its juice. Probably the only solution I could think of is to run an extension cord to the location and drill through any walls if needed.
Hi can i ask something? What i will do if my smart cam is not reset? I try all the way to reset but the red led light is not flashing. Also i put the serial number. Its showing the serial number is not verified even i put the same serial number its not verified. Can u help me thanks.
I like the HD Pro but looking for a less expensive option. Features I would like are: wifi, wide angle lens, records to a SD card vs. the cloud (don't want to pay the monthly fee), ability to see a live feed on my phone and ideally also view the recorded video from the SD card, motion detector (don't need a continuos feed), and software that actually works on my computer, the web and phone :-). I bought a D-Link camera on Amazon that is supposed to do everything I want but the software is so poorly written it does not work. Any suggestions?
Is there a output to plug in speakers to it to make the two way talk radio louder? my dogs tend to ignore low voices. if so, are you able to still hear what is going on in the house with the speakers connected?
There is no jack for an external mic. From my experience, if you try to talk to the dogs using this they'll bark quite a bit! The only cloud cape it has is it can upload photos to Picasa and Google+.
I've had mine for a few months now. You nailed it in the review - great little cam for the price. One problem is that it's not well suited for cold temps (below 32 degrees) and infrared leds bounce off windows. I purchased an external IR led array. Has anyone figured out an easy way to block the onboard leds, but leave night vision enabled so I can see my external one?
