Hi Adams, Thank you for the great comparisons. My sole purpose is to store the data like photo and videos for long term of an event, nothing else, I am just the end user who will use it once in a while just to watch and transfer those videos and pictures. Any suggestion between Sandisk, samsung, and Crucial. 2TB is the preferred storage.

I do like the size of it. I am transferring about 300 GB of videos as we speak but my transfer speeds max out at like 400 MB/s which is not expected at all so idk if its my Type C port on my motherboard or its just the rated sustained speeds for this drive@@adamtalkstech

makes no sense, yu can get the regular x9 and have the same speeds depending on how your connected to your computer., why the pro version aside medal..

Hi, Nice to find opinions and comparisions between these two drives. I cannot believe that almost no one talks about firmware update possibility, especially on Mac (you tallk about mac users in your video). I'm not working for Crucial or Samsung, but Samsung is the only brand that supplies a software (now SamsungMagician is available for macOS) for upgrading SSD firmware, etx. Crucial remain obscur on this topic and first info is : user needs a PC running Windows to upgrade SSS firmware. Think more about the issues Sandisk SSD users had and maybe you will consider easy way to upgrade firmware is more important than few dollars or speed differences. Regards,

Are those any good for gaming? because I use a gaming laptop and my ssd is full. And are thos external ssd's better than internal HDD for gaming?

I'm not a gamer, but a lot of it is going to depend on the ports that your computer has to offer.

thanks for video. I'm currently in the mark right now trying to decide which 4TB portable SSD to buy between the Samsung and Crucial. Initially I had considered the Sandisk but after hearing about all the stories of drive failure and pending lawsuite, I decided against it. What is your opinion on the newer Crucial X10 pro with 2100MB/s and the faster Samsung T9? The cost is kind of irrelevant since they are all priced similarly at least to me. thanks for your advice!

What computer are you using? If you're on a mac and you want the absolute fastest I recommend the Sandisk professional Pro G40. This is not the same drive as the san disk extreme. Otherwise I prefer the crucial for the size savings.

@@adamtalkstech im on PC. Windows 10 and Windows 11. I dont have the latest USB 3.2 2x2 (at least not yet) Size saving does intrigue me but reliability is the key. Cant afford to have data loss as i will not be backing up the content of this drive. Thanks again

@@Arthur_StJohn from my research, samsung has a better reliability record than crucial, but I'd say either of them will be fine for you.

@adam-talks-tech Ok, thanks for the quick response. It seems the crucial only comes with USB C to C, whereas the Samsung T7 comes with both USB C-C and USB A-C? My laptop doesn't have a USB C port available, so would a T7 SSD be better for that reason on not?

Yes depends on what the port supports, but its the same as using a USB C to USB A Native cable @@pmq10

I had the T7 but was not as fast as the crucial and I also hated that the rubber casing because it collected dust and grime like crazy. Also the Crucial is smaller.

Agreed regarding the rubber. I’ve bought several electronics products in the 2010s with rubber, and it all goes sticky. I avoid products with rubber at all costs.

Is misleading to advice for poor quality and many failures ssd like crucial. Design and look means nothing when ssd stops and dies completely. Thus, indeed samsung is a better option in this case.

It depends who you ask. I think a lot of people would say the same about Samsung. At the end of the day complaints are always louder than positive.
