Never understood what apps are lacking on android tablet vs ipads. Some niche editing or drawing apps are all I've ever heard of. Most people ain't using those, and I'd be willing to be their is a suitable albeit maybe less ideal alternative on the Google play store. This is all subjective though cause to me the app store is way more limiting than the Google play store. E.g. apple doesn't allow any bit torrent or emulation apps on there that Google does. Moreover you can additionally sideload applications on Android...so again, fail to see how app selection is a con on Android. Lastly, Samsung dex has the ability to use full desktop web apps like the office 365 suite so you can get essentially any student or office work done via the web browser like you would on your PC. Also no ad blocking on safari whereas the Samsung browser has it.

you can still use the spen without charging it. charging the spen is for the Bluetooth functionality like taking photo with the spen button, otherwise the core function of tilt and pressure still works much like the note series

How fast is the Micro Sd in the Tab S8 when used for photo storage? Is the gallery fluid as an Ipad Pro? Thinking of getting the S8 Ultra with 1Tb Micro Sd card and dumping my photo collection on the card. Problem is that I have around 750gb of photos and if they're a laggy mess when you scroll the gallery I won't bother with it and get an Ipad instead. Could you please let me know your thoughts about this?

Center stage is fun until it’s not. Literally just had a meeting this morning where I had to turn off video on several occasions because I had to get up and grab something and the camera just keeps hunting until I return.

I've used the tablet outside, which is very rare but either way, I was able to see everything quite well and did not have any problems, not as good as the iPad M1 but it is good enough and YES, it is a better value for your money.

Galaxy Tab Series is just missing up to date optimizations that iPad apps have. Microsoft Office and Lightroom/Photoshop is superior in iPad OS.

My daily driver (Ultra) - using it on a 34 ultra wide screen monitor. No struggle on my monitor - you need to check it out in the settings. Keybord cover free if you preordered. I love it. I can use it as a tablet in the evening - either way length ways reading is pretty crazy good the pen for doodling. Crazy device maxed out - people dont realise how amazing it is yet.

for now, what would you reccomand me? i have never had any tablet, but i have started an university education so i strongly need a beast portable device for note taking (tbh apple screen ratio seems to be better) and 3d modeling. Things that matter for me are battery life, good notetaking ability and 3d modeling/video editing rendering power. I am going to choose beetwen S8+ and M1 13' iPad pro - both 5g 256gb option. What would you if you were me?

I have both, and smaller versions of them. Tablet app availability is the only issue I have with Samsung ones.

The real question to me is why would someone who only uses Lightroom mobile, office and notion need a m1 iPad or a ultra tablet ? Most reviewers just miss the whole initial point by far. Why pay double if what you are going to do is possible and actually pretty much impossible to see difference from a super expensive tablet ? Its just a tool.

Apple is coming out with a similar computer software. Also the s pen is only responsive in native apps not anywhere else unlike apple.

What's the icon pack you have on the tab s8?

Its kind of misleading to say the display is "So immersive" when the clips is hazy and low contrast.

I buy a tablet to be tablet-specific so the 15-inch Ultra is not really my idea of a tablet TBH and I would def not buy it to replace my current tablets. I feel the 11-inch tablets are the best. So, the Ultra is more for those that can afford more than one device or that they can use Android for their workflow, more as a laptop alternative. Also, digital artists may love the Ultra although taking it out and about is not perfect. Glad Samsung released this and I suspect though it is very niche, it will have done enough to carve a small corner of the tablet market. As for DeX, I went full-in on tablets when they came out specifically to move away from a windowed UI, so DeX to me is the devil in disguise and not what I feel a tablet is for, marking the grey area and asking the question, why not have the Ultra as a W11 tablet, if that is what you really want?

Hopefully they will have 5g for the ultra tablet soon in the states 🙂

What's totally unacceptable is the ipad pro puts the front facing camera on the side. When I do FaceTime video (for work) it makes me and others appear to be looking off to the side. It's horrible. The cheaper iPads don't have this problem. Why Apple?

I find tablets in the current form as a dumb necessity. so I want to pay once and use them for 3-4 years until one of these companies really make a good OS for a tablet. Apple just feels better proposition as it will be supported for very long time. However, videos (with F1 - Petronas) on S8 Ultra looks so good - I wish that screen was used by Apple for 11 inch tabs.

In my opinion, tablets are made for entertainment, browsing the web and checking emails etc. Lap tops are made for heavy workloads and gaming. JUST MY OPINION

ipad pro 12.9 2nd gen is just 1.5inch smallr than tab s8 ultra. if we are talking about real dimensions. ultra real size was13.5 not 14.6. so it isnt really that big unlike what other youtuber saying.

For drawing/digital painting, 2D animation, 3D modeling and sculpting, video/audio/DAW editing, CAD architecture designing...I assure you, the Tab S8/9 Ultra, are extremely capable devices, with apps that run flawlessly and with full desktop experience!....It's really sad to see RU-vidrs continuously purpetuating this false narrative that Android tablets are only good for consuming content and they have no apps!

Nice video. For now I will stick to the IPAD PRO for APPS and better OS integration with M1 chip. You showed one flaw of the S8 Ultra which is the device inability to use the entire width of an ultra wide monitor. True IPAD OS has that flaw for a very long time, but with JUMP Remote or Shiftscreen, no problem with ultra wide monitors.

For an artist the screen is a winner for sure

I got tired of waiting for Apple to change the front cam to landscape and got the Tap S ultra. It’s a beautiful machine. But unfortunately the PWM flicker of the OLED screen made my eyes very sore after a few days use and I had to return it. I am not getting an iPad though before they fix the camera placement.

Personally I’ll go for the ultra so much more space to draw, with a great color accuracy, battery less pen, great pressure sensibility, different options of pen, I can play Xbox pass in that portable monitor, make some photo editing, man I can do so much stuff in the tablet I just hope is not laggy

I have both, and I must strongly disagree about gaming. The iPad holds much higher refresh rates on high graphics settings, especially over time, and is often more likely to support higher graphics settings and refresh rates. Also much brighter if you're gaming in daylight. I play a lot of call of duty mobile and foe me it's not close

The M1 chip in that iPad is wasted potential. What is the point if you're not going to allow it to be used to it's full potential?

I have both device. (IPa Pro M1 12.9 & Tab S8 Ultra). To be honest I love both. But I'm more toward IPadOs than Android because of software availability. I use few apps (Notability, Goodnote, Procreate and Lumafusion). None of those apps are existed in Android platform. For me, Tab S8 is like buying Tesla in Afghanistan or some other country where the availability of electricity questionable.

I like 16:9 aspect ratio on display of S8U, great for everything, especially movies and gaming....and that size of screen, oh man!!!

It really comes to M1 vs 8gen1. Os updates. And i think M1 is way ahead than SD8gen1

iPads better for video editing, creativity and mobile gaming while tab s8 ultra for basic laptop alternative, better for note taking, better system apps and more software feature. However samsung dex doesn't turn your tab into dexktop its basically samsungs dumb version of videos launcher, they brough this powerful feture with the note 8 and pretty much didn't change besides adding wireless dex, PC and tv supported and they removed linux support with android 10 that was the one thing that make this 1 step closer to a desktop hopefully they add back linux support and some pc pro apps and popular licensed apps to samsung dex its pretty much obselete, split screen amd taskar basically the whole multitasking experience is better on the regular one ui model lauching samsung dex feels like a downgrade and I could see them ditch that feature just caude its pretty much obselete, atleast give us desktop mutlitasking features, desktop tasker and linux support those are very basic desktop think that samsung dex should atleast add, we know lumafusion is coming to android tab thank good but samsung dex needs to have exclusive pro apps that no other android tablet or even samsung tab in dex mode can do. They should merge the galaxy book 360pro and tab s8 ultra just like they merged the note and sultra into 1 terriroty, give us android and when launching samsung dex give us full on windows 12, that way I have a more portable 2 in 1 and I have my samsung ecosystem, their galaxy books have downgraded specs like 1080p 60hz worse speaker and spen not being nearly as good as samsungs current tablet and s ultra smartphone these are the dowgrades, just merge the 2 in 1 terriroty and add usb c port hdmi cable ethernet capable the goodies u get on normal laptop while keeping the zfold has a larger mobile device. I understand it could be hard for the processor 2 handle 2 software at once but they could make in such ways that when your using samsung dex it processor processes dex power running full on windows while maintaing the samsung ecosystem ofcourse and when exiting dex only powering android this would give us better android because now u have PC level power controlling the mobile firmware and apple will no longer remain the most powerful tab in the market well it is the surface duo 8 is but that tablet isnt very popular if samsung does it it will 100% go wild

i have S8 and ipad pro 2018. I love my S8 but it lacks many applications that I use daily such as Bear and Craft and many more. It's useful as a multifunction device but not in any specific apps. Let's say Tab S8 series is the jack of all trades but king of none

If you want to use your tablet as a laptop, then the best device is huawei Matebook e. It is literally windows pc in a perfect tablet form

Just to clarify about the sd slot for anyone out there that might have the wrong notion: it is not Samsung’s (or any other Android based hardware manufacturer’s) fault that the SD is pretty useless anymore for apps. That is ALL on Google. They intentionally broke that a couple years ago [was it before Covid?] by forcing app updates to be done on the intrinsic silicon. I was very confused when my S9 kept popping up with insufficient space errors, all of a sudden. Then, I noticed that all the games that I had been playing via SD storage had suddenly, inexplicably, migrated BACK to internal. I found out later that this was by Google design. Google also locked us out of the file system on the internal storage at that same point in time. I have zero love for Steve Jobs’ little racketeer scheme with his Apple ecosystem he invented, but Android/Google is no longer the haven it once was.

as an ipad pro m1 user im going to sound bias but i feel like apple tablets do what you expect a tablet to do best, the app integration and software is solid, the aspect ratio is hit and miss where its clearly designed to work well with apps but falls short for content. the screen in general seems to be more suited to mobile use, i mean the bigger screen will always be initially more impressive but what about when you are out in sunlight, on holiday, in the garden, from what im seeing the S8 is really quite reflective and the peak brightness is quite a bit lower than the ipad. it just seems more rounded as far as what a tablet should do and how it should perform and the ipad pro also seems like its going to kick on for quite a bit longer with the M1 chip essentially doubling the gpu performance of that snapdragon, along with the proven software support and the way ipads hold value they are probably the smarter option, you will never struggle to sell an ipad but can you imagine trying to sell a galaxy tab s6 for example, they just are not on peoples radar. BUT with all that said, i am trying to make myself feel better for owning an ipad lol i hate apple as a business, i hate the decisions they make and limitations they put on software and right to repair but i have to say i just never have a bad time with their products.

Nah everything can be good about Samsung but the Snapdragon is just not powerful enough. The M1 on the other hand is pure overkill and after the centre stage update external display is now good on ipadOS, so yeah if you want a tablet for productivity ipad is far better.

Sorry Alex…… its all about the ecosystem and how seamlessly everything works without setup or even thinking about it. It all just works together. That’s why I buy apple products, which goes well beyond just the tablet and the smartphone. Who really just wants a tablet or a smartphone anymore.

As a person who owns Samsung and M1 Samsung create a more laptop experience without you having a fight to try to get it. Apple‘s commercial was indeed misleading. Beautiful for a factor for a App specifically that app thunderbolt indications. Meanwhile Samsung just implemented support. Even with Touch monitors. It just works. I have a M1 iPad with all the bills and whistles 16 tb ram you knowwwwwww and I can honestly say Samsung is more like a labtop/pc. And at the price we pay for apple so should iPad be.

Just stop saying that SamsungDex is something amazing. You have the same apps, but you can open multiple windows at the same time and that it’s. I’m not saying that the IPad is better, but stop telling people SamsungDex is close to a laptop. It’s not. You can just open 10 windows at once and to be honest nobody uses more then 2 windows because then everything will be to small. Even on a laptop with one screen people will not open more then 2 or 3 windows. On a laptop with real apps, not gallery and setting and RU-vid like on the tablet. You can already open 3 windows and use a mouse and a keyboard without SamsungDex.

I have the iPad Pro 12.9 fully spec’d etc and I only use it mostly for music apps, I do not find that useful otherwise and Safari is deliberately unforgivable for non apple approved sites, has lots of not working issues and I mean LOTS and some sites say its their fault on the browser but as soon as I say use Fire Fox or something it miraculously works, while the same ‘issues’ continue on Safari. Just one of many experiences I can mention! The Tab 8 nails this in practically every area and it just works super smooth. Dex I believe is used far more than we think and I use it daily and also see my work transferred very simply to both PC and Mac. I noticed that using my VPN is seamless compared to the iPad and found multiple browsers did not slow the Tab 8 down at all - over 25 open compared to iPad that started to wain an awful lot. Speaker sound is clear and deep and again that screen is delicious. Definitely much better than ripoff 🍏 🫣 😎
