This is a great video - covers all the most interesting stuff and is easy to watch, kudos. But dear God, dude, stop stretching your photos! CROP them to 16:9!
Didn't read the 54 comments, but in your fort photo, you could have cropped the top and bottom to the 16X9 without losing detail. You would have just cut some sky off the top and the foreground from the bottom.
Can you use a Chromecast with this? How does it work with the art mode? Is it possible to use the brightness and colour ambient settings during normal tv watching?
Thanks for this review. I have the 65 inch model and I would like to know I can get my own professional photo's full frame on this screen in art mode. I converted the images in photoshop to 16:9 and 3840 x 2160 but I still get the annoying space around my photo's. Also smartthings sometimes does not see my photo's when I upload them to my phone. I use the Iphone 8. Any help would be appreciated
Can you get it to automatically change the images once per hour? From what I know, the control we have over this is very limited indeed!! Which put me off buying.
Good informative video Sean , thanks. There are many mixed reviews on this TV., but its very tempting for what I want to do. In Sean's review the rotation of photos can be set by time and 10 min is the shortest amount of time ?! Anyone know if there is a looping slideshow type setting where you can cycle through photos without waiting 10 minutes per photo? Also , why are reviewers so focused on the lack of memory. Do photos have to be saved to the TV? or can they just be displayed from an ext hard drive or any other storage like a thumb drive or cloud ?
Actually I have the opposite issue - I want to display images for about an hour, after which they should automatically change to another. B ut from what I have researched, this TV does not have such long time settings for slideshow functionality. Why not just let US THE VIEWER decide how many seconds/minutes/hours we want an image displayed for????? For this reason, I was put off buying.
It hasn't been that long and I never move it or disturb it. There was nothing to me that looked like it was fragile. They are very thin, so yes you can't kink them or anything which is in instructions, but once installed there should be no issue.
Hello . I have been planning to get this one but i had concern about how good the viewing angles are. Some say the VA panel used here score poorly when it comes to that. Another thing I wanted to know was everyone's going super thin with the bezels, now the Frame requires them to have it for obvious reasons, but does this feel sore or outdated after some days?
@@notsoaverageraj7917 Hey, just got it set up 3 days ago. Do not worry about the viewing angle unless your seating area has chairs placed wider than 135 degrees. Coming to the bezels, it really is personal preference. All I can say is, the bezel doesn't stick out separately when I am viewing content.
Good video. When you are viewing your own photographs say a 1000 or so from a hard drive and the tv goes into sleep mode at night does the tv show photos from where it turned off or back at the beginning of the slide show?
Could you do me a big favor? No where can I find good information about using the tv in portrait/vertical mode. Samsung customer service simply says "yes" it can be used in portrait mode along with watching video, RU-vid, Netflix etc. Would you reply or maybe even post a video about the functionality of the tv while in portrait mode? Thanks for your help.
You can view pictures in portrait mode, but not TV that I know of. The mount is only for horizontal mounting. So you can't mount the TV vertically if that is what you are asking.
@@dustinreed7821 the 2020 32” version allows it, but be aware that not every app will work (and they won’t tell you which ones don’t) plus there are other features that are not applicable to the 32”. The website is murky at best regarding the differences. Things I’ve been able to decipher is that the one connect box is a mini version with less ports and a thick chunky grey cable, not the thin clear one), and I don’t think it’s 4K.
Not really. The software decides the orientation based on the photo's size (like 640 x 800) So if you manipulate your photos in an editor you can make it go in the orientation you want, but there is no simple flip.
You just pick that mat from the choices, but that choice will only show up if the photos are a certain resolution to fit in that mat, otherwise you don't see it.
it is the mat option, but the photos must be the correct resolution for the option to show up. Here is a link: www.samsung.com/au/support/tv-audio-video/the-frame-uploading-personal-photos-and-art-store-subscription/ Scroll down to the bottom to see the choices.
The photos have to be the right size in order for Triple mat choice to come up when you are matting them. This link may help: www.samsung.com/au/support/tv-audio-video/the-frame-uploading-personal-photos-and-art-store-subscription/
DO NOT BUY! I got 2020 frame 55 inch TV and returned it right way. The quality of the picture is much worst than my 2016 UHD 40 inch curved samsung. QUHD is a total marketing rip off!! If you wanna frame TV you just order any flat TV and order a canvas frame at any art shop and it’s actually easy to install. Just google it. You don’t have to overpay for Samsung frame TV, also that fame mode is a total BS. It looks nice on video but in reality it’s just a still picture which you can do on any TV, just find a picture you like on Internet for free (from any museum), copy it on a flash drive and activate on your TV a slide picture mode. That’s it!
Certainly something to consider. However, there is more tech on the Frame than just showing a picture of art. Motion sensors turn off the screen for energy conservation and ambient light sensors adjust the brightness as the room brightness changes, which makes a huge difference in presenting art.
I call BS. Whoever reads this - go to the store, look for yourself, get a demo and for the heck of it, compare it to the Q950R which is the best-of-the-best Samsung can offer right now. The Frame, and especially the 2020 model, is absolutely stunning. Be aware, if you choose an 8K over 4K, the upscaling technology (happens with all TVs) can make an old 1080p picture look "fuzzy". Samsung is really good at mitigating that, compared to other competitors. So if you stream a lot of 1080p content, then you might actually be better off with an FHD TV rather than a 4K or 8K. And yeah, if you have a big old collection of ripped VHS videos in 480i , then you're going to have a bad experience, basically because the "pixels" are going to be blown up 8-times (or more).
Yes, but is there *any* TV where I can set it to display an image I have uploaded for say 1 hour, and then automatically change it for the nest image in the folder?? I have not found any that do this (including the Frame). Seriously, if you suggest using another TV as a photo frame - can you answer this question? Would really appreciate it. :)
For a $2000 frame I would expect, that - I can use it without a smartphone (including configuration of sensors) - Images can be freely resized and rotated behind any freely selectable passe-partout - Images can be freely resized, rotated and placed on any mat in the shadow box But this samsung device does not even allow to control the overlap of the passe-partout. See the video at 40:18, 40:45 and 40:53. The image is cropped ! This might be useful on paintings, but not for photos. Thanks for the video. I wanted to buy the frame. But now I'm sure. I would not be happy with this.
Yes there are definitely software limitations. But you can most features without a smartphone, by using remote. But its honestly easier to load photos with the phone.
'most' might be too little. ;-) Samsung offers 10 years burn in warranty for the 3rd generation 'The Frame'. Sounds good! But now look into your smartphone and count the applications which are 10 years old. With every generation new apps are built. Does anyone believe the older ones will be supported and kept alive for every change in the smartphone OS ? Watching your video helped me to find a decision. There were other fears. How good is the intensity and color temperatur regulation in dynamic situations. I wanted to place 'The Frame' on the wall vis-a-vis a 75" TV with Ambilight and Philips Hue Play. What will happen if the light in the room rapidly changes from red to blue. First reviews of 'The Frame' said that this regulation is a pain even in easier situations.
Is there any setting (or any TV) where I can set it to display an image I have uploaded for say 1 hour, and then automatically change it for the next image in the folder?? I have not found any that do this (including the Frame). Seriously, if you suggest using another TV as a photo frame - can you answer this question? Would really appreciate it. :)
