After 9 months of use and switching from Samsung, what is your current feedback? What do you miss? Would you switch again or will the next upgrade be with the same Google?
Hi Sam I’m an Apple user and cannot believe how expensive Apple is and get pissed how they conveniently gets slower when your out of contract. Hubby has Samsung S21. I’m not a fan of Samsung but I’ll admit the screen resolution and camera is so much better than my iPhone XS. Time for a change me thinks. Thanks for this review. How are you finding the phone now? It’s Sept 2024.
Hi Mary, I'm still loving my Pixel 8 Pro, it's a really great phone. The screen is great on the Pixel, it's really bright as well which is perfect for when you're trying to use your phone outside. I am thinking of trying the new iPhone 16 when they release it in a few weeks. But not because there is anything wrong with my Pixel, just because I like testing out new phones 😊
Battery life is amazing. Most days I never have to charge, on the odd occasions when I'm on my phone heaps I might do a quick charge in the late afternoon to get me through the rest of the evening. But most of the time I finish the day with about 30%. 5g connection seems fine, I have noticed any issues with that yet. As for heating most of the time the phones doesn't get hot but I have noticed if I'm using my phone outside on a hot day (above 35 °C) it does get a bit hot. I've mostly noticed this when using my camera.
Hi Andrew, I'm still using the Google Case and it hasn't turned yellow yet, the colour still looks good. I did a "two weeks later" review on the case as well if you're interested.
Yep got the pixel 7a after owning a Samsung S21FE and S23 ( S23 was stolen So had to get pixel 7a as a cash purchase.) The pixel 7a is a great little the phone. GREAT VALUE..The transcribe is amazing but I kind of miss some of those Samsung features. Everything was in its right place with the Samsung for me.. and the photo editor is pretty cool ON THE PIXEL..but I think if I was in contract and had to get an upgrade between the next 23 or pixel Pro 8, I might go for for the Samsung again.. ( of course that as 24 will be soon. And where is it all going to end?
I spent 2 years with the Pixel 6 Pro. That was a horrible experience! I swore I'd never get another Pixel again & ran back to Samsung. I'm in my first week using the S23 Ultra. I forgot how many things only Samsung can do. However, I do miss some Pixel features. There are a lot of "quality of life" options missing from Samsung & I don't understand why. Here's a few: no clock icon in quick settings, no option for Google Assistant or Bixby to stop an alarm just by saying "stop" (you have to use Bixby, & Samsung's own clock app, not Google clock, & say "Bixby, dismiss alarm"), all the call features like call screening, spam detection, voicemail etc., the way Google is integrated into everything. Samsung's options are actually a bit overwhelming. There are Samsung's own apps for all the basic stuff, plus Google versions of those apps. If you want to take full advantage of the customizations, you have to use Samsung's apps. There are occasions, like with Samsung Internet, where Samsung's apps are better, but Google usually is the way to go. The level of customization for something like notifications goes too far, imo. I find myself panicking that something's wrong with my phone, only to discover another layer or 2 of customization that I had to switch on or off to get the effect I intended. If you want to be able to change every minute detail of everything you ever wanted to change, Samsung is the way to go. If that level of change overwhelms you, go with Pixel. You can customize far more than Apple, but there are limits. I'm giving myself another week or so to get my phone to where I want it. If I decide I miss the simplicity too much, I'll send the Ultra back & get the Pixel 8 Pro. I hope it's 10X better than the P6 Pro. It has to be usable, for a start. 😎
Yep got the pixel 7a after owning a Samsung S21FE and S23 ( S23 was stolen So had to get pixel 7a as a cash purchase.) The pixel 7a is a great phone.GREAT VALUE too...Though transcribe is amazing on the pixel..and photo editor... but I kind of miss some of those Samsung features.( Play lake when I want to find a specific photograph of my album. It's so easy on a Samsung Everything was in its right place with the Samsung for me.. and the photo editor is pretty cool but I think if I was in contract and had to get an upgrade between the next 23 or pixel Pro 8, I might go for for the Samsung again.. Samsung S23 Ultra User here! I switched from the Pixel 7. Samsung does have spam detection which I love and it has Bixby call screening. It's not as smooth as Googles, but it does the job! My brother and sister in law traded their Pixel 6s for the 8 and they love it!
Which phone should you suggest between iphone 15 pro max and google pixel 8 pro I'm not a heavy user I just play casual games alongside daily usage A camera is only needed on occasion
ALWAYS get a lens protector for the camera glass! A few years ago I cracked the lens on a phone and it made the photos unusable 😂 oops. I've used one ever since lol.
Samsung phones are great, but I'm glad I tried something new. I'm super happy with my Pixel. It will be interesting to see what Samsung does with the S24 when they release it.
I've always gone for Huawei, honor Xiaomi but fancy this for a change, they say the software is better but have concerns wether the processor will be good enough for daily use
I just moved all my notes over to Google Keep before I switched phones, but I had been using both apps for a while so it didn't take me long. Samsung Notes can't be installed from the playstore on the pixel, it says it won't work on this device. If you have a lot of hand written things in your Samsung notes you could try moving them over to an app called Notion or the other option could be to put your pixel in developer mode which you do in the settings and then install an APK file of Samsung notes onto your Pixel. If you search on RU-vid "Samsung notes on any android" there looks to be a few videos on ways it can be done. Hope that helps.
I am iPhone user and would like to go for pixel pro 8. My only concern is security as Apple is perceived to be more secure than android. Are you facing any security related issue on pixel 8?
