CASETiFY Pixel 8 & 8 Pro Cases are now available at CASETiFY! Go to www.casetify.com/petematheson today to get a discount on your order today! Very impressed with the Pixels this year. I was going to keep the fold but I’m keeping the 8 Pro for now!
For the people claiming that Google will not keep the 7 year update promise, you have to consider that this could easily land them into a major class-action lawsuit if they renage, especially since they made a public statement to the affect. I doubt very seriously that Google will cancel this promise.
@@MrAmad3us Not true. I still have my original Pixel XL and it still works perfectly. I also still have my Pixel 6a and it's running the latest version of Android 14.
I took a call on my Pixel 8 Pro in the pub the other night, my mate said it was blocking out the background noise of the other drunks and music. I know telephone calls are a bit old school but that’s impressive!
One comment point that’s stands out is iOS forgetting what media you were previously listening to, very annoying. I frequently switch from iOS and android and notice this every time. You’re one of the only videos I’ve seen highlighting this!
Bought the Pixel 8 Pro, received a huge discount of $400 off by being a Google Fi member. First time I've ever bought a phone brand new like this, couldn't pass up that discount.
So you still paid what, 1099-400 = $699 USD? oof. Even 🍁cell companies are offering the pixel 8 for $262 leaf bucks, that's like $118 USD. Not pro, but unlocked by law like all 🍁phones
Ello Pete, i stumbled across your channel by accident! Ive just switched from a 13 pro to Pixel 8 pro and was just looking for videos on pixel 8 pro and found you! Love this video buddy, great informative content - love your work! How about a tips n tricks video next ;-) Best wishes from Liverpool my man!
It's so funny when people call themselves fanboys :) I'm all over the place. I have a macbook and airpods but I'm jumping between Samsung, Pixels and iPhones and enjoy all of them for what they are. Must say that Android as an OS appeals me the most though when it comes to phones.
as someone whose also been a longtime apple user , I’m heavily considering upgrading to the Google 8 pro pixel ; the selling point for me is the camera ! I love taking pictures and making scrapbooks , based off the camera alone would it be worth it ?
Doesn’t seem to be worth while.. the camera is nice, but video is horrendous compared to a recent iPhone. This guy doesn’t even make an effort to show us how bad it is.
I’ve moved from the IPhone 13 Pro to the Pixel 8 Pro, but mainly because of an amazing staff deal I got at work been on IOS 5 years now and wanted a change. Plus I’ve got a Garmin watch.
Been using the pixel phones since the 4 and haven't gotten board of them yet. I've almost bought the newer iPhones a number of times because I really like the designs. But its something about ios that rubs me the wrong way.
I'd love to see a review of the hardware ecosystem. How the Pixel Buds Pro hold up against the competition and integrate with Pixel Phones as well as the Pixel Watch.
This is pretty cool. I've been using only pixel devices for years. But the throttling, poor battery life, and overheating issues have been tough to deal with. Im hoping the P8 is better. If its similar to the 7, then I'll finally consider iOS. Especially the regular iphone 15. It looks beautiful in black
The only reason I haven't bought the Pixel 8 is bc it's missing features that I want, that only the Pro has...but I don't want to carry a massive slab about in my pocket! Why do phone manufacturers insist on having a 'Pro' model - other than to justify the higher price difference! Why not have the same spec on both, unless it's actual SIZE that prevents it having *_all_* of the features on both - and set the price in the middle (£850) and have a Pixel 8 Compact & a Pixel 8 Max, then everyone's happy!
Awesome review! Anyone have an issue going from Samsung to IPhone, all of my photos were completely out of order. iPhone 13pro pics are just scrambled everywhere pics take same day are nowhere near each other(from Samsung S20). The Google Photos trick you use is pretty slick, if you pics are organized the way they should be(probably gonna try).I just got my pixel Pro in the mail just wondering if the pics will “unscramble” going back to Android? I had been a frustrating 2yrs with iOS
Thank you! It should sync in order with Google photos but then it’s difficult to get them from Google photos to Apple photos. I just keep them separate but always use Google photos on my iPhone to back everything up, so Google photos holds all photos from all devices
@@PeteMatheson thanks when going from Samsung photos to iOS photos everything became a mess. Have never been able to sort them correctly. Hopefully if uploaded to MacBook I can fix them… I have kinda given up bcuz even the Apple Store said ”yea we know, there’s no way to fix it.” So I think I will start clean/fresh on the pixel and use your google method. Plus no one had the 512gb pixel I wanted so that kinda forces me to start fresh🤬THANKS a ton!!!!
Firstly, I don’t recommend you transfer everything over from Samsung to iPhone. Start new, as a reset! You’ll start so much lighter with less baggage. But there’s several things you can do to keep all your precious memories and important data with third party apps. On your Samsung phone, back up your Samsung photos to Google Photos (give it some time for downloads to happen). While you’re at it, Sync Samsung Calendar with Google Calendar. On your new iPhone, sync Apple photos to google photos in settings. Give it some time, your entire photo history from your Samsung phone can now be accessed on the Google photos app. And because you’ve synced Apple photos to Google photos, any new iPhone photos will be added to Google photos as a back up. Think of Google photos now as your Archive. For anything precious, you can, while in Google photos, “save to device” to be added to Apple photos. In regards to your Samsung calendar, everything should sync to Google calendar, and in return, add Google calendar to Apple calendar in settings on your iPhone - handy if you have anything re-occurring over months or years. You can just pick up using Apple calendar and move forward. Or use Google calendar which is better… And finally, anything you’ve backed up to a drive of your choice on your Samsung phone, can be easily accessed via the same drive app on an iPhone. For everything else, whatever third party app you’ve been using, will be on the IOS AppStore.
Casetify only protects your camera bar, 1mm above level. Almost flushed. So just be careful if you drop on concrete, a running track or anywhere but a flat surface.
The G3 Tensor isn't the same on the Pro. The Pro has a faster processor, less throttling, more ram, better screen (1hz to 120hz and better brightness), telephoto lens.
Switched from pixel 8 from iphone 13. Literally feels like a breath of fresh air. Imessage used to be a big deal for me. But honestl with apps like signal. Whats app, messenger. Ect, i grew to care less about that.
While I agree that the title is misleading, I also have the ability to interpret as well. What you really mean is that you are a lifelong iPhone user and you have temporarily switched to said phone to test and use it for a while to get enough info to do a review on it 😂. Then, you are back to your iPhone.
These ones are straight from phone. Lots of their processing features aren’t available until later this year 🤷🏼♂️ I linked all the original shots in the night video if you wanted to check the full res versions out 👍🏼
We have two HomePods that we love. One mini and one regular older model. If I were to switch from iPhone, would I still be able to listen to music on my HomePods from the google pixel 8 pro? Thank you!
At last a prefect Apple fanboy review of the great Pixel 8 pro that's balanced and not stuck up 🍎 - 🍑... 😂..well done. Sorry Pete for calling you an apple fanboy your now a Google fanboy lol..
Hey thanks for checking out the Pixel 8 pro I know this is asking a lot but maybe you could take a look at the regular eight for many of us to pixel 8 pro and 7 pro and 6 pro they were just too big
Really struggling to choose between pixel 8 pro or the Samsung 23ultra have pixel 6 at the moment not sure if I would miss the ai and camera too much what's your opinion on the 2
haha! I'm having this debate right now with which one to stick with. I keep going back to the S23 Ultra for the Cameras, but I'm also really enjoying the Pixel ecosystem lately... Which one are you leaning towards?
iPhone pro max 14 user here. I can’t complain the phone is decent but I miss my Pixel (6 pro) the speech recognition is amazing compared to Siri who believes I’m from the planet zod!
What's battery life like for you? I feel like mine is not that great, my galaxy A52s lasts like 30min longer being a midranger and 1 and a half years older than my pixel 8 pro
It's difficult to judge as some days I"m on the phone alllll day but others I barely touch it. And every day is different. I haven't used an A52s but it's an improvement over the recent Pixels, not as strong as anything with a Snapdragon 8 G2+ chip in though
@@PeteMatheson 🤔, I don't wanna start to believe I'm the only one with this problem and think I got a bad unit or something. What about bugs? Mine kills apps randomly when I have them in the background which is outrageous when having 12GB of RAM
@@PeteMatheson Ohhh?! i'm sure you don't mean dropping it over 100 times, but just moving it along normal home wood floor, home table, and normal table conditions within a few weeks of usage right? If so, still it looks pretty roughed up to me ...
I was going to make a video on this. I think a lot of people are interested in doing it for similar reasons to me (bored of the same thing) But it’s difficult to actually do. And in reality I’m only happy with Android after using about 15 different phones 😂
The 7-year update thing doesn't really matter to me, as long as they have about 5 years of operating system updates that's all that is really necessary at least for me. I'm kind of a phone enthusiast so I have never kept a phone for more than 3 years before getting a new one.
Yeah I don’t think it’s as big of a deal as people are making out. Tech people love to moan / make something out of nothing. But it’s genuinely great they’ll do 5+ for those who do hold on to their phones 😀
Yea I don’t really care about updates either. I keep my phone for 2-3 years typically. I currently have a 13 pro max. Usually I would’ve upgraded to the 15 pro max, but this time I’m holding out another year
Maybe for you, bus some of use care about this planet, and want to keep devices usable as long as possible. You know, so our kids don’t live on an toxic earth, a teend not many egocentric person can relate to. See it this was: a phone you sell after 3 years is considerably more worth if it has 4 years of life, updates and everything in it, instead of not being supported any longer and basically becoming ewaste at this point…
I expected this video. Every 2 to 3 years I try to switch to an iPhone. But android is just better. Only for cameras one can keep iPhone... Rest on nothing phone 2 I have no issues!
Just to be clear I'm not hating on anyone but why tech RU-vidrs put the title that says " life long iPhone user switch to any android phone" but ended up using iPhone again I just don't get it like if you switching back to iPhone then why bother making videos about switching to Android phones like what's the point?
I have an iPhone 15 should I trade it for the pixel 8 pro? It’s $1,000 and it’s in promotion for $549 and if I trade my iPhone they give me $515 for my iPhone should I do it??? Or should I go for the Samsung s23 ultra? Or with the iPhone 15 pro??? The promotion is in spectrum mobile.
I don't understand. Every time there is a new flagship Android phone you claim to be switching as a lifelong iPhone user, yet you always switch from an iPhone to whatever new android there is. Are you actually switching or just trying them out for a week? It's easy to like a phone for a short while, but actually switching is another story.
I’ve not had any issues at all. There is an odd shift when you snap photos where the image captures slightly off to where you shot. But quality wise it’s great 👍🏼
Love the content. I gotta say man, this year, I got tired of iPhone and tried out the pixel 7 pro. What a huge mistake. The phone lasted three months before completely crapping out. I couldn’t believe how bad it was overall. Overheating, Spotify not working, phone calls/messages not being received, battery life not the best, and complete lack of performance. We’re in such a weird place where Apple isn’t making any real changes becoming stale, and at least Googles take on android being a complete disaster. Such a great time for tech, but not for phones in my opinion.
I've always carried a Nexus/Pixel, but dabbled with iOS with a refurbished 8 Plus. I wasn't thrilled with the trade-in deals for the P8P at launch, so I tried the 15 Pro Max. I'm still carrying my P7P, but I am enjoying the new iOS experience
Swapping out peoples faces to get the perfect photo? Why even bother with the photo in the first place? lol. Lets just skip that part and just have AI generate all our memories.
So if you can alter the pictures so much change faces etc how do we know that the photos we see in these videos are actually the taken pictures and not altered? They proved that Samsungs moon shots are A.I altered its basically lying whereas Apple may have a weaker camera but the pictures are genuine it’s like doing a cake for a kids party and buying it instead pretending you made it. Also you forgot to mention Apples new programmable button and other ios17 features this was a bit one sided in favour of the google. I would like to see however a way to unblur pictures not change faces etc just unblur old family shots on Apple devices.
I know on paper every new iPhone looks identical to the previous one, but, the jump from 14 to 15 is greater than the ones we have had in the last coupla years, like 13-14 was not that big nor was 12-13 or 11-12, regarding cameras battery health processor hardware everything
@@AyukaAmameth I’m talking about the “average user” prospective, many normal people who upgraded from 12 to 13 couldn’t notice a difference, it’s us, the tech nerds, who can differentiate between 60 hertz and 120 hertz
