Just a note : there's no timecode on a VHS tape, the slow down in FF/REW mode is done by calculating the differential rotation speed between the take up and supply reel
i have a similar one. the vcr do not complete the whole movement from forward to backward of the tape (manually can be performed), so the header never reads the tape. do you know how to repair this?
I have this same model recovered from my parent's basement.. on the VHS side there's occasional video distortion, almost rhythmic early in the tape, and a constant buzzing in the audio. Thoughts?
I have same Samsung model dvd/vcr which my tape works but dvd does not load. One isolated instance it did load. I have cleaned it to no avail. But I also have a sony dvd/vcr wivh the dvd operates but not the tape. I have a question which is are dvd players generally swappable? It seems to fit. but unsure about orientation of the blue of the ribbons in both cases. I could also not rule out user error concerning progressive? Maybe there is something simpler?
I'm not sure what you mean user error concerning progressive. But as far as compatibility, if they are the same boards then generally yes, however if the connectors are different then generally no. Sometimes it will work but you have to find the pinouts and match them up but even then for MANY reasons it may not work.
@@Electronicle I meant any wrongsetting which might stop it from loading. I tried the swap with no loading anyway. I think it is back to a thrift shop for one which works. I have had good success with cleaning the lens (in the past) but now i think everyone has tried that already. Thanks for great video though!
Hi there. i have this exact model and I have a vhs loading fault. At 25:42 in the video the mechanism/cradle that loads the cassette goes all the way in and down. My mechanism is stopping halfway and then pushes the tape back out. Do you have any idea what that would be? I have checked for debris etc... but cant see anything. It is working perfectly otherwise. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
I have a similar issue and it appears to be due to a small pin that has been broken on a wheel on the main board, you can see the wheel and pin at 18:12 in the video, lower right here, it has the small arrow pointing to it on the board, AFAIK, this arrow is the reset position for the pin so that the recorder does not snap it when being placed back down on it.
Great video. I followed your instructions, except when I took the mechanism component out the belt was still intact. I don't know why the gear on the right wont spin/turn. No fWD, RWD or play. I can see the tape go against that silver spool and show an image, but it's like it's on pause for 2 seconds and then it stops and ejects automatically. Any other suggestions?
The manufacturers parts department but as its an old unit, that probably won't work. Can eeither look for it on amazon or ebay. There's a couple companies that specialize in belts and my brain is apparently not working because I cannot think of the names atm. What I usually do is buy a bulk set of various belt sizes. You'll get belts that you don't need but its usually very cheap and allows you to have some on hand for other issues that may arise. I think the last pack I ordered was about $20
I have something similar but its the V5500 version. And i was just watching a movie on VHS, the audio mysteriously disappeared. My cables are fine and nothing was muted. My theory is because i had a pile of tapes on top of my samsung VHS/DVD player, the weight mustve screwed up with the machine. How do i fix this?
i have a toshiba dvd vcr combo and was droped. It worked good a few times but now it makes squeeky sounf like if it was streaching the tape when I insert it. it then turns off and ejects tape.. any ideas what it may be?
@@Electronicle ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XyGg79anm90.html your opinion? it sounds like its stretching the tape or something. Any suggestions?
@@lunamax4663 can you do that again but without zooming in on everything. Just leave the camera back some so i can see everthing in frame while u put the tape in and hit play
@@lunamax4663 One thing I couldn't see in the video was if the supply spool was moving. There is a small piece that pushes the release tab on the bottom center of the cassette which releases the spools and lets them spin freely. Sometimes that breaks.
Common sense prevailed and I went to the thrift and got me another dvd/vcr unit. This one is a Sylvania. It works after cleaning the lens both on dvd tape but it rejects at least one disk, which played on my old Sony. The Sony worked great but I got the eject blue lever out somehow and never got it back . And the dvd door fell off. So I again have a working player, but not one I can train my remote to with.
My family has a model that looks exactly the same on the inside DVD has issue just like this. Vcr wasn't working but it was a easy fix mode switch most of the Samsung players on ebay are for parts because of dvd you are right very unreliable. I am probably going to attempt to adjust laser.
