I don't believe Harvey is getting a bad rap at all. When you try to gain anything off the back of someone else then let folks believe its all you, then you need to be embarrassed. no one assumes that. on the other hand in a field like stand up comedy it's a very small field and unlike say acting in a movie, comedians often cross paths at comedy clubs or going on tour together. let's add these are black comics that all came up in a different time -- a time young people can't really appreciate -- and it makes sense that they would "stick together" especially in America. Remember that in the 1960's Sammy Davis Junior was not allowed to stay in the Hotels he was performing in in Las Vegas -- this is not some southern backwater it's a city that was built in the 60's, a modern city where audiences were eager to see black entertainers on stage but the owners of the hotels wouldn't let them sleep in the hotels. So these are just some of the reasons that people might assume that groups of black male comedians who came up in the 50's, 60's and 70's and well beyond up to the new century might be friends or let's say supporters and acquaintances. Especially in American culture which loves to stratify, segregate and label people.

Bernie Mac was funny just sitting at a table reading the newspaper! His whole being was just funny and happy and joyful, no matter who you were! It seems like he was only in a competition with his own self to see who was most fun/funny! Here’s how he seemed: like you knew him & he was just one of those people who you know being around him is going to make your day better, even if you are just listening to radio or tv that you saw before! Going to his show was a safe bet because you knew you would get your money’s worth and have a great time! I guess he was everybody’s favorite & everyone was comfortable in knowing him and how he was! Just the best person who makes you glad to be alive!

I believe what is being said about Harvey! I was young when "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper" aired, and Steve stole a lot of Mark Cooper's character persona. After watching Steve since his beginning, I noticed some serious faults in Steve's character on how he treats people Off camera and facts that were pointed out in this video. Thus, I really am not at all a fan of Steve Harvey. He truly IS highly over rated.
If Steve Harvey were to try and have a feud with Samuel L. Jackson, that would be the end of his whole career. Even Denzel Washington has reverence for Samuel L. Jackson. Steve Harvey is not in Samuel L. Jackson's league. Very far from it.
