Listened to blues all my life. I grew up with heavy metal and punk, but really good blues is just something else. Anyone seriously into music should really know the basics. The old timers, the influencers. The Robert Johnsons, The Elvis Presleys and the Woody Guthries. Too many to mention really and we all have our favorites. Got a soft spot for Sonny Terry and Bo Diddley though.

I don’t mind the close ups. The emotion and embodiment in his facial and body movements to me completely blend with the music and the story. He is truly amazing. Love the blues. There wouldn’t have been rock, punk or hip hop without the blues (and probably early country). I would love to see you react to Chuck Berry’s Around and Around, Buddy Guy’s Stone Crazy and Charley Patton’s Oh Death. They span different time periods and each brilliant and contributed so much

So imagine someone from another part of the globe, like myself - was listening the blues since his childhood ... Blues is something special man ... Because of people like legendary Lightin' Hopkins, God rest his soul.

I listen to the blues because I play this style out at gigs🎸❤️

This is a real 100% story: I was friends with the person who created this movie Les Blank and he made this documentary called " The Blues according to light the Hopkins. I asked him about the scene and he told me that the reason why lightnin's hair was really messed up was that he just got into a crazy verbal altercation with his sister-in-law who threatened to shoot him. She was actually standing outside while they were filming this, so lightning had a gun on his waist just in case she burst into the door and Les blank said he was really nervous that she was going to do something crazy like shoot through the window. So lightning had a Colt revolver and was ready to shoot but Les ask him to play something and he did to calm himself down.

I listen to some blues every, every day. I listen to a lot of blues, a lot of days. I was born and raised in Memphis so blues is just like the heartbeat of the city. We’re serious about our blues around here. My dad, who spent his childhood in California and Michigan raised me on the blues, Country and Motown as well. Blues is hands-down my favorite music to listen to. The twang of the guitar is the best sound to my ears. Walked out of the house this morning to go to work, and turned on Lightnin’ Hopkins. Saturday is for the blues.

John Mayer has hit some great licks in the Blues, his Try Album. There are several RU-vid videos of him doing some blues, playing with BB King etc.

Po’ Lightin’ was/is a legend of country blues. T-Bone Walker as well, both are damn good bluesmen. Check out Mojo Hand by Hopkins. All kinds of blues.. country blues, rock blues, Chicago blues Memphis blues Delta Blues(blues birthplace to some) New Orleans blues. Anything out of Dockery Plantation(blues music hub that was basically it’s own city) I play country blues, my guitar teacher 27 years ago made me listen to everything, blues just happened to be what I latched on to.

This is the country style blues there’s many genres of country blues but no one really plays the blues anymore and the few that du tend to play in the modern Texas and Chicago style blues. One artist that has country blues songs is Gary Clark jr

Stevie Ray Vaughan's the last person really. Allot of African Americans regards Blues to be "old people music." Truth is: I wished the Black community would really look back at the Blues genre because it's history in music form.

Also: no rock n roll with out blues. Rock is basically a shortened version of the 12 bar blues, 8 bar blues(rock)

He became so talented As a story teller that they featured him at the Carnegie hall of music to play for students He became the best right out of Houston Texas .
