This is the story about strings.
There are things I like about this Cort NDX Baritone NS and things I don’t.
I spent some time trying to fix pickup issues, fret buzz and some other things and there is still a lot to be done… but what I didn’t like from the very beginning was STRINGS. It was an Elixire acoustic baritone set. I never ever heard a dissent acoustic guitar set from Elexire that would go well for me - this time it was not exception.
Finally I stopped playing this instrument and it stood in guitar stand for two years untouched.
Lately I decided to change those strings. All acoustic baritone sets are very expensive and I had a couple of good old Martin phosphor bronze acoustic guitar set: .013-.056.
So I simply changed them. The guitar was finally enjoyable to play! I had to tune it a bit higher since the strings are thinner and the tension was not enough to drive this huge body. I tuned it in C. That was the trick. Now it is VERY comfortable to play. And I like the sound.
As far as the signal concerns - I mix internal mic just a bit to give some acoustic body feel for the piezo. The game changer here is definitely Fishman Aura Spectrum DI. I used the same preset I use for my Godin nylon guitar.
Another trick did the Strymon Riverside with a very low drive. It works as a good preamp and gives reach saturated signal.
This two pedals form the core signal that sounds really good as is.
