I loved Daggers 8; as it displays unique fighting styles from both the hero ..and the villain. a combination of various teachers' styles, vs a lightning fast expert who has surprises that make him a lethal, unbeatable killing machine. The final battle and outcome is one to see (especially the death-cry) i found this to be the late Lily Li's best fighting role ,imo. R.I.P (she will be missed dearly) Another big treat was this film was actually directed by Wilson Tong himself. Daggers 8 was a pleasant surprise to me, and yet another under-the-radar gem. ... The title of this film is wrong. The assassin for hire Pah Su Lang (Wilson Tong Wai-Shing) carried ten daggers not eight, as he fulfilled what was in the contracts he accepted. Pah's presence was marked by music samples from what sounds like Sighs-Goblin and La rue-Miklos Rozsa. The rest of the music in this film was orchestra music composed and arranged by Li Tai Hsiang. Pah says to Fong Chi (Lily Li Li-Li): "You know a woman as pretty as you are, shouldn't learn kung fu. Should marry and have children..." What a loss if all film producers thought that way. Lily Li is one of many talented female performers, who put in just as much hard work as her male counterparts to deliver a quality performance. In this film, she had to work with what was given to her to do. This film had the potential to be a good thriller, but it fell a little short. I think there were better performer than Meng Yuen-Man, who played Chu Chi Ching. They would have been more skillful in order to deliver entertaining fight scenes. The fight choreography was average at best.
