there will come a day where the metroid devs devise a way for ridley and samus to have to work together to beat some absurdly dangerous foe and then just as samus is about to deal the final blow ridley would attack her absorb the big dangerous thing and become a new ridley form as a final boss
I think a scrapped concept for the original Metroid Prime was a "Chozo possessed Ridley." I'm a little foggy on the details but Chozo Ridley would aid Samus. So in other words, not exactly what you said but absolutely in the same territory of getting the two of them on the same side and Ridley having yet another new form lol.
@@haydensmith4085 He's cheated death on multiple occasions. Classic/Zero Mission, Prime 1 and 3, and Samus Returns. His actual death was in Super. Haven't seen much of the Manga to know whether or not he's cheated death there, but I know God Sakurai brought him back to help against Galeem and Dharkon.
Right! If that Other M scene was from Zero Mission's story then I would understand her fear. By Other M's time she has beat Ridley twice(and even more if you count Samus Returns and the Prime games). Hell, the player even beats an X-Ridley in Fusion before that game's release. Why put Ridley in Other M and more so why make Samus afraid of him instead of enraged by him?
@@VastDivide Other M actually took place (canonically) before Fusion, so NEO-Ridley was irrelevant at the time. Seeing what is either a Clone of Ridley, or simply another of his Race, was like seeing a ghost, because she actually killed him in Super. Although I will agree that her PTSD reaction was a little over-the-top. That's more a reaction that should occur the first time she sees him after he kills her parents.
@@Zero-vu8se a digimon lol. But really, a Pokemon is more Nintendo's way. Oooh I know, a fire emblem enemy. Do they have fanciful enemies or are they all human? Eh whatever. Fire emblem Kraid. Bam, gotta good smash character there.
Other M in a nutshell when encounter with Ridley? Samus: God I thought I killed you on Ceres! I literally decapitated you then left your remains blown up there!
@@RND3YT Metroid, Zero Mission x2, Return of Samus, Super Metroid, Fusion, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 3 x2, ...Metroid Other M would make 10 but we won't count that.
Would have made more sense for her to just walk away annoyed, or have a doom slayer esque rage attack. Too bad someone wanted the destroyer of planets to be written that whiny.
(Next game after Dread and Prime 4) Samus after killing the Metroids for 100000th time. Galactic Federation: I'm really sorry Samus, we brought back the Metroids again with your DNA and its purely budgetary, its not persona- Samus: AHHHHAHHHHHAAHHAHH!!!! I'M GONNA KILL MYSELF!! Galactic Federation: Wow... Samus: I'm Going To Kill myself and its your Fault!!
It's like, damn Nintendo I know you want me to fight a dragon..I mean I WANT to fight a dragon, but can it at least be a different guy? Samus has committed genocide and caused the destruction of 4 planets already, how is this dude still alive?
@@christopherkidwell9817 either that or (according to the wiki and fandom) he's just been resurrected either via cybernetic enhancements (meta ridley) a complete robot version in it's likeness in Zero Mission (Mecha Ridley) or infused with Phazon in MP3 (Omega Ridley) In other words, you're wrong. Do your research first
@@Skaftholu Here's what I remember: there's OG Ridley from Metroid/Zero Mission, who gets patched up as Meta Ridley and Proteus Ridley from the Prime series and Samus Returns. Then Ridley returns fully restored in Super Metroid (which...happens briefly after Samus Returns, and Samus had just kicked his purple ass. So that one's unexplained so far...unless that's a different Ridley) and Samus defeats him again. After Super, Samus encounters a regenerating clone of Ridley and kills it on the Bottle Ship. THEN there's another Ridley (clone?) frozen on the BS-A ship that gets infected by the X parasite and defeated by Samus.
@@ShadowEl Yeah exactly, only one thing, the Ridley infected by the X is the same clone that was on the Bottle Ship, they took the corpse and bring it there
No, dude. Please, no! Don't ask for him! Ridley needs to take a break. If Nintendo makes an update for Metroid Dread, they might put Crocomire and Draygon instead. NOT RIDLEY!
@@GarryTheGluestick probably because of how bad it is, what it did to the series, and the fact people are trying to bring it back as some "misunderstood gem."
@@BigHailFan I understand people wanting to criticize the game for various reasons, sometimes I just take issue with how vehemently people attack it. People talk about it as if Sakamoto pushed their own mother down the stairs, they take the whole thing so personally. And I'm saying this as somebody who loves Metroid to death. It's just a video game, for Christ's sake. Certainly a flawed and somewhat mediocre story, but I don't understand what people expected story-wise from a Nintendo game, like it was supposed to be some Shakespearian novel with no plot holes and devoid of cringy writing. It's just bizarre. And the way I see people online badmouthing Sakamoto, like they have some personal vendetta with him because he and Team Ninja fell short with a game, it truly is pathetic. People need to get over themselves. Again, there's no issue with people criticizing it, there is plenty to discuss in terms of flaws, I just think the vengeance and anger with which they attack it is unwarranted. Also, what exactly did it do to the series? It's a pretty self-contained story, the only major event that takes place in Other M which is discussed in other games is Adam's death, but that was already established in Fusion anyway. So I don't really see how it interferes with the timeline in any way. Or are you talking about retcons? People rehash that talking point ad nauseam, but I never see any substantiated claims. Other M failing to reference the Prime games in any way is not a retcon. What else in the story contradicts other games? I'm genuinely at a loss there. Or do you mean the fact that we went five years after Other M before seeing the announcement of another Metroid game (which wasn't really a Metroid game)? The way I see it, the only way that wouldn't have happened is if Other M ended up being one of the best selling Metroid games of all time. Even if the game was critically acclaimed and sold decently (but not great) I still think things would have unfolded similarly. The reason for that comes down to circumstance. For decades now, we've had Sakamoto + an in-house team (or an external team like MercurySteam) handling the 2D games, while Retro has been handling the Prime games. Notice how there is never anyone else involved in these efforts. So what was Retro doing at the time of Other M? They had concluded the Prime games with Corruption in 2007, wrapped it up with Prime Trilogy in 2009, and then they had moved away from Metroid to make Donkey Kong games. So would we be seeing another Prime game from them anytime soon? No. Well what about Sakamoto then? He had just released Other M with Team Ninja in 2010, and it seemed like he would be taking a break from the series after that point. So who then is working on a new Metroid game in that span of time following Other M? Nobody. Again, if Other M was a commercial success, things may have gone a bit differently. But Metroid games are rarely ever a commercial success, so I wouldn't solely attribute the underwhelming sales to the game being mediocre. Could have been a 10/10 but still sold poorly.
It's because Super was the only time she'd actually killed him and knew with certainty he had died. She had finally rid herself of this thing that haunted her and it came back again. She wasn't scared of Ridley, she knew she could kill him. She was scared that she might be forced to kill him again and again without it ever ending
dont start this excuse. it's been debunked to hell and back. also "She was scared that she might be forced to kill him again and again without it ever ending?" really reaching for ways to justify Other M, huh?
@@BigHailFan What do you mean “debunked?” There’s a lot that goes into the PTSD scene and I think it was an alright artistic representation. Symptoms like that tend to relapse. Being under Adam’s command again is also a factor to her mental state at the time. Other M is the worst Metroid game I think we can all agree, but gamer bros finding the need to bring up how much they hate it every 3 minutes is really sad and annoying.
@@rbrachy2518 stop, they are the same thing unless stated otherwise in the fantasy setting. dnds definition of dragons and wyverns is not an all encompassing. It is up the author to define the creatures of their fantasy setting.
@@rbrachy2518 which it is a wyvern in monster hunter my apologies. Was heated up from having that debate on the lost ark forum. There is a dragon in the game that is called a dragon that has 2 wings and 2 legs no other appendages and the dude kept saying "THEY GOT IT WRONG THAT"S NOT A DRAGON" again I apologize within the setting of monster hunter you are correct that is a wyvern.
Why people are hating on her PTSD when it’s clear that PTSD effects people differently. And anyone who does have PTSD cannot hate Samus’s PTSD without being a Hypocrite themselves!!!
Because Samus doesn't have PTSD. It was done because Sakamoto wanted to tell his own story outside the Prime series. You know what happens after Other M. No genius needs to know why this was a mistake.
By the time Metroid Other M occurs in canon, Samus has already killed Ridley 3 times. Why would she be having a breakdown now when she knows she's perfectly capable of killing him again? That's what everyone makes fun of, it makes no sense and detracts from Samus's character.
@@elcato8126 in Super, Ridley died. Samus put that nightmare behind her. She got vengeance for the killer of her birth parents. To see him back, as if all her efforts were for nothing, made her feel like the little girl all over again. And even when she found his dried husk, he wasn’t “dead” dead. And in Fusion she knew the X-Parasite had taken over Clone Ridley’s frozen husk. That’s why she didn’t have a PTSD attack. Ridley didn’t appear out of nowhere after dying on an exploding planet. And because she only ever met Ridley in his mature form, she had no reason to connect that lizard or small birdy to Ridley. And saying that Samus doesn’t have PTSD is exactly the attitude of people who don’t understand how diverse the effects of PTSD are. How many times must PTSD be presented to you people for you to understand that PTSD affects different people in different ways.
@@MrFlamingpride 3 times? Where do you get that idea, his HP bar being empty? Pretty sure if Samus did kill Ridley, he wouldn’t be showing back up again and again. In Prime, it was said that Ridley was heavily damaged, not dead. In Prime 3, a damaged Meta Ridley gained Phazon. In Metroid Returns, Ridley took some time to recover properly. And in Super Metroid he was back to normal only to be obliterated by an exploding planet. Just because they “blow up” in video games doesn’t mean their “dead” dead.
