Can we get some love for Sam's mother, despite her limited power, she clearly told off her husband and I am certain would have loved Gilly and Little Sam regardless, because Sam would entrust them to her.
@@KayaOzturk-her husband is a hateful bigot and she is a person with independent thought despite being married. She was right to call him out on his hateful behavior, Gilly was nothing short of a sweetheart and completely respectful. She wasn't wild or savage.
@MethuselahWinter Silence! His son is weak in era of warriors! You sit in the comfort of your home because you don't have to worry about your country being taken over. Wasn't like that back then.
I always imagine this is what alternate universe is if Joanna lives giving birth to Tyrion. Tywin still gonna hate Tyrion but with Joanna's there, he probably less hate.
@@topkekkek2135 Why are you being aggressive for no reason? They probably haven't watched the series and wanted some context. Learn some fucking manners.
@@klauswigsmith barely anyone would WANT father like that. but almost all households would NEED a men like that, hate it or love it. (especially if said household is located in harsh and unfrogiving place like westeros and not US california or something)
@@madness1261You can be a tough man if needs be, but a perfect father keeps a balance between being delicate towards his children and wife and being stern. You, clearly, are not a father. Stop talking like one.
I think at that point she was fed up at Randyll for how he treated Sam throughout his life whilst she usually did nothing, but you can tell she just got fed up off him
I love that the father compliments Sam’s mother after she contradicts him-like everyone is saying, she in theory has little power as the woman in the relationship, but he genuinely holds her in high esteem!
you can see why sam is as good hearted as he is, his mother tells his father off for his words but it is the father who holds all the power in reality, but she can do what she does because the power is given to her by the father through love and respect
I absolutely LOVED that Sam’s mom stood on business and SAID what she thought OUT LOUD. I know that so many of the games had to be played in secret but I loved that his mother had the courage to stand up and say “no, you’re an asshole and this is wrong”. I’m so glad she was kind to Gilly.
Randyll Tarly is a great view into the rest of Westeros. We forget that the Seven Kingdoms, especially the North despise the Wildlings. They had invaded the Seven Kingdoms several times and were only know for their raiding and murdering. And the Night’s Watch aren’t supposed to father children and Sam arrives with a child he claims to be his. Basically Randyll Tarly is how the rest of Westeros would view Sam based on the commonly held beliefs.
Wouldn't go so far as to say the whole of the seven Kingdoms care about the Wildlings. Remember that the wildling only attack the North which is thousands of miles away from any other Kingdom especially the Reach. Tarly should hate the Dornish more than he does wildling considering he is a marcher lord.
@@bowlofcinder482I don’t think one is better or worse, per se, but it seems like the Northerners are culturally a hardier people due to their harsh weather, constant raids by wildlings and Iron Islanders, and historical precedents. They are also racially of different stock than the southerners and they also have a different religion (the Old Gods, etc).
Gilly seems so chill here. Been through so much worse she doesn’t even look offended, just like well what do ya know, dads down here act just like Craster
I don't blame him for being mad his son didn't even try to become a man. He was a coward and if not for people protecting him he would have been dead. He's fat, he couldn't wield a sword, Shoot a bow hunt for his own food. He was smart but that's it.
If only she stopped at the father, or like Tyrion said, "a few nights in a cold dark cell will change anyone's mind." Tyrion tried his best to not have her burn Lord Tarly's son.
@@samanthab1923no, they aren’t. Sam is a maester and so has forsaken (again) his lands and titles and Gilly is a wilding commoner, Sam’s mother and sister will be in charge at Horn Hill in the show
Samuel is a gentle, kind soul, so is Gilly... The only WILDling there was Sam's father... When you let HATE BLIND YOU, you become incapable of distinguishing FRIEND from FOE! Gilly did not deserve this, and I am glad Sam's mother will be a part of their lives, being also gentle and kind! Little Sam will finally have a good home...
Sam’s mom the real one here. Not afraid to tell Randyll what’s what. YOU DISHONOR YOURSELF! Lmao soon as his pops told him he’d never wield Heartsbane Sam was already thinking “yep I’m taking that mf sword tonight” 😂
Dude just hated his son. For not being a fighter. Even though Samwell was a highly intelligent, and kind person. Makes my dad look like Bill Cosby. Oh, wait. Thats not right.😅
Not a fighter, sure. But Sam has the potential to be one of the greatest maesters that Westeros has ever seen. The man cured grayscale for goodness sake. It’s a real shame his father couldn’t appreciate his true talents.
How his tone changed from disparaging to complaining when he said ‘He dishonours us’ to his wife. He did admire his wife and even might have listened to her on political matters.
Idk why people were complaining when Dany roasted them. Their show versions were downright bad. The book versions on the other hand were Targ loyalists so that's another thing
@@maxi1ificationto be fair, Randyll has been raised that way, along with the generations and generations of Tarly men, he says himself in the lore video’s House Tarly breeds soldiers, not kings, they are incredibly proud of their battles against the Wildlings and I’d imagine any generation of Tarly before Lord Randyll would have been just as bad if not worse once they realised who she was
@@dv9239and his perspective was utterly fucked. He lacked empathy for his own flesh and blood, simply because he was intelligent instead of physically strong. That’s truly pathetic.
@@dv9239 No he wasnt???! Mate Randyll is the 3rd worst dad in the series after Tywin and Craster. He literally threatened to murder Sam if he didnt go to the watch.
Samwells father and Tywin were both my favorite characters in the show. Incredible actors that work with passion and unfiltered demeanor. Absolutely loved it
This is why it didn't hurt my heart at all to see Lord Tarly face the dragon. Despite it all, Sam loved his family. Because deep inside he is a good man... and a far better man than his father ever was.
Define good? He barely defended his women who bears his child supposedly, he didn’t say a word or even make eye contact. Morality means nothing if you don’t have the courage to put it into practice. I think Sam is a nice person but I don’t think he’s moral at all.
@@Prometheus7272 She did something tho! She showed him a very clear sign of anger and embarrassment of his rude behaviour. She took the girl away.. that all was something, and it definitely helped!
I wanted Dickon to bend the knee to Dany when she took out the Lannister Army. He could’ve helped fight in the Winterfell war with Heartsbane. Maybe even reconciling with his brother Samwell.
The dialogue in this show is just so damn good... The series ending was rushed, but no one can deny how great this show is as a whole. The actors did an incredible job bringing all of these characters to life. 🔥
If any man was of worth, Samwell Tarly would be the most expensive man in Westeros. You won’t find anyone more loyal, honourable, trustworthy or brave, besides maybe Ned Stark.
Gilly never did though, she was raped by her own father and had never even seen the wall before Sam. Crastor's daughters weren't like the other wildlings they kept to themselves and didn't raid
Suddenly, you’re applying the actions of others to a woman who never did any of those things. You’re cool with bigotry and getting weird about fictional characters.
@@bbmcraeif you live in westeros, and for all your history "wildlings" would raid your homes, rape your daughters, wifes and mothers, kidnap them, put your boys to the sword.....how exactly can you expect westerosi not to see the wildings as savages? How do you think anglo-saxons felt about viking incursions during the start of the viking age before they started to settle?
fun fact, all randyll predictions becomes true but the process was completely different, sam wasnt going lord tarly of the hornhill but its not because randyll forbid him, its sam own choice to become maester, and sam never wield the sword but its not because randyll forbid him, its because sam give it to someone else, its quite funny😂

Lazy show writing, Randyll Tarly is a staunch Targaryen loyalist and would never have sided against his king’s last living heir like he did in the show
@@dragonflarefrog1424 Olenna didn't betray anybody, the one who destroyed the Alliance between the Lannister and the crown with the Reach was Cersei by killing all their lords, and don't tell me that they didn't knew it was Cersei because how convinient is it that the person who is up for a trial is the only surviving person when suddenly a massacre happens in the place she was supposed to be with all her enemies.
Sam truly had no hate in him. After everything his father did to him and put him through, he still mourned when Danaerys ordered him killed. Maybe the sadness was for his brother, Dickon. But as siblings go, Dickon sure didn't do anything to stand up for him. At least not that we ever saw.
Could see where sams kindness came from. His mother. Dickon got both from his pa n ma but sam singularly inherited his mothers wholesome gentle kindness.
Bc he wasn’t treated like this his whole life, it’s stated that Randyll made a great effort with him before Dickon began to show his promise, only on his last name day before he goes to the wall does he get treated this badly
He was sad because his brother died with his asshole of a father too. Poor lady was all happy he could finally see his brother again until he heard that 😢
I wasn't treated well as a child, and I don't wish my parents to be burned to death, crazy how both things can be true. Do you wish your parents burned to death?
Lmoa this guy is a piece of work. Even after getting told off by his wife he finds fault with his son for it despite KNOWING she's right and calling her a "fine woman".
Sam still grieved at the news of his father's death. Sam sat there quietly in the full glory of his father's cruel bigoted stupidity to secure a safe place for Gilly and the child, this being the last time he would see his father.
Reading between the lines, he says he will have her work for him but is gonna banish his son. Then later when he takes advantage of her he will say he left you here he didn't care about you. He'll also say no one would judge me or bring me to justice because she's a wildling.
The father that destroyed his house because he was angry and stupid. Got himself roasted because he'd rather work for Cersei than a certified Targaryen 😂.
Litterally everyone else in Sam's family was happy to see him and loved him except his damn father. Even his brother was in shock at their fathers scorn.
Bravery is not always loud and obnoxious. His father was throwing verbal threats only for the time being. Samwell was only waiting to see if it would turn physical. It’s also a matter of fealty; it wasn’t Samwell’s place to act just then, but his mother who did so brilliantly.
Randyll Tarly was just a hard man for sure, he defeated Robert Baratheon's Army during Roberts Rebellion against the Mad King. His House was of Targaryen loyalists along with the Tyrells.
@@InsaneCopePosse He's right to mentally and morally cripple his son because he's not exactly how he perceives a man should be? Who's projecting what here!?!? There's a good fucking reason why Sam survived the Game of Thrones and his father didn't, deal with it. Oh, by the way, the Tarlys have nothing to preserve, they got their shit beaten by everyone and were forced to kneel every single time. They aren't the Starks.
Did he know what his son accomplished beyond the wall ?, Sam fought the white walkers, defeated one of them, something Lord Tarlly wouldn't done in million years.
He's so full of hate arrogance and pride that he would rather let his son die then save him to inherit the families home and lands when they lost to daenerys and she gave them both a chance to live 😢😢😢😢😢😢
What? He literally tells Dickon to shut his mouth when he speaks up and when asked who he is he declares it is just ‘a stupid boy’ to try and save him from her wrath
The look on Sam's face is so funny,he looks so ashamed and nervous and guilty but also looks innocent the way he blinks like a baby being scolded by adults 😂
His dad is right, he brought this woman to their family house, child that’s not even his, and he’s a fucking coward that refuses to defend himself, and he also needs other men to do his fighting for him. The fact they stole the sword from their family because their feelings were hurt on the truth shows even more of how right he was.
Funny thing about this comment is that Sam's dad here is actually one of the single best war fighters in Westeros. As a tactician, he had very few rivals in battle (was the only person to inflict a defeat on King Robert during his war of Rebellion). Great dad? No. Great general? Definitely
I respect Randyll's honor, but not his closed-mindedness. He hated wildlings, but in front of him was one that was different from the ones he fought in the past and such union would end a long time of hatred. Not everyone was meant to wield a sword, but that didn't make them useless. Sam was smart whereas his brother was more the warrior. Together, both traits would be a great combination.
God, the costumes this season were atrocious! The regular costume designer was working on The Crown and was unavailable so they had to use someone else and it shows.
Sams whole family adores him for who he is except his father. Even his brother hates the way dad treats his older bro. Honestly hate tarley more than most characters. Honestly he would have been a great leader of house Tarley
Oh the writer's dropped the ball here. This was the perfect scene to have Sam stand up to his father and call him out for his BS. Sam who stood his ground and felled enemies that would give his father pause. He became every bit the man his father wanted but Randyl was too hateful to see it.
A lot of comments like this, but it is an unrealistic expectation to have; Sam was torn apart by his father his whole life. Randyl was more than willing to *murder* him in a calculated fashion not long before. Why expect a few months in the night's watch--regardless of the events that happened in his life during that time--to erase many years of constant oppression, constant humilation, constant aggression? He was trashed by his father since early childhood and continued being so even then. People don't overcome such situations with a snap of fingers. He might be able to gradually tip the scale, but even that would take years.
