You are an incredibly talented photographer my friend, and your videos punch FAR above your weight class. I was shocked to see you don't even have 8 thousands subs, definitely subscribing!
Thank q so much bro. Ive been researching for months to find the best wide angle lenses for full frame and on a budget. Thissssss just givesss me everything i need for my soon trip cheers mate
Fantastic Review! I recently purchased the Samyang 14mm RF mount with auto focus and it has pretty much lived on my EOS R for the last 3 weeks on all my architectural shoots. I ended up reviewing it in real world scenario on my channel. My reaction during my open box video was pretty much like your reaction when seeing the wide angle for the first time.
I had the same reaction looking through the lens for the first time, the distortion scared me a bit at first, but after using it some years i have learned how to deal with it. Another option for filters are the Kase clip in's. They go right before the sensor, instead on on the front of your lens.
Thank you for this review. I have been looking at this lens (known as Rokinon in my country) for my a7ii.Extremely helpful information and great video quality!
great review man!!! I'm in the exact same situation as you were - trying to find the "perfect" wide angle lens, and narrowing it down to this lens due to price point and the focal length. i also really enjoyed the point you made about corner sharpness not being that important as this is my opinion as well.
Great review man I hadn’t heard of this lens for the a7iii. Thanks again. Although I still prefer the tamron 17-28 I hate it when I can’t put a Nd filter on my lens
It’s a fantastic lens, I also sometimes use Rokinon 18 mm f2.8 for travels, it’s a bit lighter www.digicameratips.com/top-10-rokinon-lenses-for-the-sony-fe-mount-in-2021/#2_Rokinon_18mm_F28
I bought one for my Canon 5D Mk IV and it's really super wide. The Sigma 14mm was just too expensive but this Samyang made all the difference especially when your shooting real estate. Only issue is finding a ND filter mount for it.
Been looking at this very lens now for a little while. I've got the 35mm come lens for my a7iii and just wanted a wide angle lens for my fishing videos. Thanks for the review.
Awesome video, thank you. I'm getting this for astrophotography and landscape photos for my canon eos rp. The auto focus will help for shots other than those.
AMAZING video. Thank you so much. Love how you color grade!!! One info: I’m looking to buy a VLOGGING lens for my new Sony a7c. I’m thorn between the Samyang 18mm f2.8 (I love how compact and small and lightweight it is! Seems a heavenly match with the A7c) And the Tamron 17-28 2.8 (love that is a zoom lens so I can zoom if I need it when I’m vlogging around to show things, but it’s bigger, heavier and more expensive) and the Sony 16-35 f4 (love that it has OSS, and I think it would work with the Sony ibis and produce a more stabilized footage, but is F4 and heavy...) And now I see your video with the 14mm 😂 I’m even more thorn now. I like my lens to be as light and compact as possible (for vlogging is ideal) but I wouldn’t mind a bit of zoom, just to make the video more interesting to watch by zooming on some scenes to show specific things) don’t really know what should I give up. Compactness or zoom? What should I do in your opinion? I really need an advice! Thanks 🙏🏻
Honestly no idea - I think it's always the same struggle😅 Go with what your feeling tells you. I think they're probably all good, but maybe one has a certain feeling to it for you, something personal that make you feel pulled to it more than the others - take that one then🤷🏻♂️ You'll have the most fun shooting with it✌🏼
Saving for this lens now. I love my canon 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 stm lens, but it struggle in low light. Hopefully the Samyang does a much better job for vlogging?
Hello, I really appreciate this video, I will choose this one for my zve1. But I have a question, what type of lut do u use to have this aspect of colors, because I really appreciate it. Nice video 🙌
Did you consider the 14mm Samyang manual version? If so, what made you shift towards this AF model? Great video btw! I like that you take the character of a lens into consideration
Nice, I'm glad to read you enjoyed it! :) Yes I did consider the manual version but I shoot with Auto Focus 99% of the time so I decided to take the AF version :)
Great video, i have the same but manual, i'm thinking in buying the af version like yours or maybe try to reach the sigma 14-24mm 2.8. what do you think? does it worth the extra price for image quality?
@@teocrawford awesome, I have the a7c and the tamron 16-28 mm and was wondering what setting to use when I’m doing sit-down videos. I’ve also been vlogging with the canon G7X but was thinking of selling that and either picking up a wide angle lens for vlogging on the a7c or getting the sony ZV-1
I don't have it but I read it's really good for real estate I'm thinking of getting this. For my a7iii since my 24-70gm it's not wide enough and even my a6300 with my 18-105g it's not wide enough
Why didnt you go for Samyang 18mm f2.8 at almost half price and weight? It was worth a gamble for the quality of samyang....don spend much on this quality of glass!!
I've been using Tamron 15-30 Nikon mount since ever. It happens to be my favourite. Now shifting to Sony mirrorless. How do you think this thing compares with the Tamron?
@@sprateek001 pheew I have no idea, because I've never used the 15-30mm. But I suppose it should be better with that zoom flexibility - the Samyang is stuck at 14mm🤷🏻♂️
I just sold my Tamron for this lens. The Tamron is way too big and heavy. The Tamron is sharper, especially in the corners, but the Samyang autofocuses better on my Sony (Tamron is probably just as good on a Canon). The center sharpness of the Samyang isn't far behind. Imo the weight trade-off is worth it, I'm glad I went with the Samyang
I don't know, depends on what you shoot and what you value in a lens. If you find to be missing a lower aperture, then possibly the Samyang is a good lens for you. But if you always shoot landscapes at f8 anyway, then I don't see why the Samyang would be better🤔🤷🏻♂️
Hi there - i bought this objektiv as well and now i am searching for a filter which fits to this objektiv. The problem is, that normal filters doesnt fit and thats why i am aksing :) greetings from GER - Adiablo:)
Also ich zumindest bin bisher sehr gut ohne durchgekommen🙌🏼
