I think that was the Spreckle's Theater there at Horton Plaza. My mother worked there during the war and met many Hollywood celebrities including Abbot and Costello. They would hold movie premieres at the Spreckles so the Sailors would have a chance to see them.
The one thing that makes me sad about San Diego is that it could not become a hub for world trade Mac in the 20s and 30s San Diego just got blown out of the water by Los Angeles crushed we had a chance to become a major major player and a major city and yet we became a secondary subdivision of our state and always will be
At 1:32 the guy is just picking his ear. People used to pick their ears a lot in the old days. Hair clippers didn't get the hair out as well as they do now. I also remember people digging around in their ears with car keys. You would see car keys with gobs of ear wax on them. That's just the way it was.
Hello Vintage San Diego, I am intern at the Coronado Historical Association (CHA). First of all, I would like to thank you for posting this video, as old footage of Coronado is exceptionally rare. I was wondering if you would let me use this film in an interview we will be conducting with someone who lived in Coronado during this time period. In addition, I would appreciate it if you would let me add this video to CHA’s archives for use in future projects.
It's not my film, and I don't remember where it came from! I don't know why the credit is missing... I usually give credit... I have absolutely no memory of where it came from. Sorry...
O.K. there's something in this film that's a bit mysterious..? At 1:22 a "White Rabbit", then at 1:32 a mysterious man passes by with something he's holding onto at the side of his head..? A time traveler with a cell phone..?
BossaNossa1 Man with cell phone... I believe we have noticed this before! Funny. It's anybody's guess what it is... hearing aid is another possibility.
