@@Hilyin The majority of current fentanyl addicts were marijuana addicts. Thye simply liked flirting with soft drugs. All street drugs are laced with fentanyl including marijuana. Our cities are overflooded by fentanyl and kids are just buying online from dealers without realizing it is their slow death sentence. There is no recreational drugs use any longer with fentanyl being so cheap and literally everywhere from streets to schools.
@Hilyin yes it's the root cause of homelessness for majority...I commented out of personal experience if you are down and out because of addiction and have driven yourself to an all time low you have a choice to die or to live; there is hope but it takes dillegence and lots of faith...if you truly seek you can get help but it begins within yourself
Its cheaper to provide housing, job training, therapy, healthcare then it is to allow them to suffer on the street. Princeton already put out a study of this and the Nordic countries have been doing this for DECADES. We choose to have this problem because powerful people are greed and ego driven sociopaths.
OF COURSE .....If I ever find myself homeless .....San Diego is the place to be. Warm .... fairly safe. I am shocked people are homeless in places like Pheonix. California Politicians and voters are not the sharpest tools in the shed. The dinner bell has rung. .
California is expensive and what you get for 1400+ rent pricing and the expectation for renters to make triple the amount is ridiculous! The places that are offered are run down studios. Home buyers are locked into the same situation, High rates. It’s not okay 😢
The city of San Diego is also ticketing people and RVs for existing on public property between 2 and 6:00 in the morning meaning it costs you $112.50 to be in San Diego between 2 and 6:00 on public property including streets parks parking lots that would end up being more than most people's mortgages the majority of these people are senior citizens living on Social Security that is far less than minimum wage
The only cities that have a homeless problem are the ones that allow it. San Diego has ruined itself. We used to love going to the Gas lamp and other areas, but we do not go there anymore.
are all of them falling into homelessness? There is a lot of vehicles/RV's at certain spots in Mission Valley who set-up to beg on corners, and majority of license plates are from out-of-state
I quite my job and moving to the streets. I’m using my money to buy a donkey (my parties mascot 😊) and living downtown. A mud hut is what I will build. Meth will help the troubles. Heck, Why pay for anything more when I can get it for free?
This is only going to get worse everywhere, not just SD. The reason is simple. Too many people, to much mental illness and drug addiction, continued rising COL and less employment opportunities because of robotics and the coming (here already) AI revolution.

People are not “falling into homelessness”; people who choose to be homeless and drug users are moving to San Diego because of the liberal policies that will enable them to live, and do whatever they want without any consequences of the law.
Exactly, and as long as the border remains wide open the drugs will keep flowing in and perpetuates the crisis further. None of these people are looking for jobs or apartments, or any kind of life accountability. They prefer to stay off the grid. Look at how many refuse free shelter because of this. They are just looking for their next drug fix, plain and simple. People can virtue signal all day long that "rents are too high" or there is a "housing crisis" and solving either of those issues will fix nothing related to increasing homeless population.
Yep; exact same crap is going on here in downtown Los Angeles. This new liberal mayor Karen Bass is making things worse. All of these so-called nonprofit organizations, they all have their hands in the cookie jar. It’s a business.

Well with the border wide open now and inflation of course this will happen. It’s sad to see how this city turned out. I was raised here and a big Mexican culture used to be here now they’re all pushed out and transplants are here calling it theirs. Being from a beautiful underrated city at one point was awesome!
your going to lose your city ,i mean they run downtown already .your shelter services are a joke and you refuse to build more housing becasue your trying to restrict demand for it .i hate to say it but its not going to end well.its everywhere you go ,its in your face 24 7 but they (city officals) cant cut it too tackle this issue .i mean after all it too profitable to not fix the solution .
And we continue to allow more people into this country who will end up the same. We will have increased our homeless and welfare population by hundreds of thousands.
