The City of San Fernando, La Union is a coastal city with fifty-nine (59) barangays covering an area of 105.26 square kilometers. The city is a bustling commercial and administrative hub located in the geographical center of the Province of La Union. It serves as the gateway to trade and commerce to the North and the culture andheritage of Ilocandia.
The City is the regional and administrative capital of Region I, hosting several regional and field offices of national government agencies, regional branches of government financial institutions and some government owned and controlled corporations. It is the home to some of the region’s best educational and medical institutions and facilities including the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC), which is acknowledged as the heart of public health and medical care in Region 1.

San Fernando City, La Union is the main Capital of La Union and also serves as the Regional Center of whole Ilocos Region or Region 1 under the Provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan. San Fernando City is the 7th safest cities in the Philippines 2023 via known International Travel Blog. It's also included as top 8 best beach town/ cities for retirement in the Philippines. Last May 8, 2023, San Fernando City, La Union has already a part of the known International Organization called 'WeGO' or World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization held in Abu Dhabi UAE.

Yes, they have also a lot tourist spots like Macho Temple (first ever Taoist Temple in the Philippines and the largest outside China), Pagoda Hill, Heroes Park, Bacsil Ridge, Botanical Garden with Science Centrum and Museum, Historical Pindangan Ruins (1764), Poro Point Areas (Former US Military Air Base) like Poro Baywalk, Poro Light House, Poro Cliff (it resembles the cliff found in Bali, Indonesia. Including Gidday Beach, Acapulco Beach, Thunderbird Resort and Casino "Dubbed as Santorini of Asia" (Movie Setting of the Highest Grossing Pinoy Film of 2011- No Other Woman), Aureo Resort (considered one of the best Resorts in the PH and they have large lazy river pool), Mountain Resorts and View Decks, Christ the Redeemer and a lot more. San Fernando City, La Union is considered as one of the most diverse Cities in the North. Nearby towns are San Juan, La Union "Surfing Capital of the North" and Bauang, La Union "Grapes Capital of the PH). You can check them out.

I recommend you visit Macho Temple. My Chinese grandfather sponsored the development of that temple in the 70’s, if my memory served me right. Also, the Singaporean Noodle at Yukee’s Eatery is a knock out🌼🌷🌷highly recommended💕

You will see the modern jeepney "LUTRAMPCO" timeline at 7:04. Taxis are usually stationed at City Terminal, Robinsons Mall, Manna Mall and CSI Mall. Other information, as of June 2023, SM City La Union is now under construction with transport terminal, theme park, condo towers (SMDC) etc. It will be the 4th full service mall of San Fernando. Soon to rise Tiongsan Mall (Mall originated from Baguio City) and S&R.
