Who here is from San Fernando or environs? If you live abroad and have not been to San Fernando in a long time please do give your opinions about the place... has it changed, improved or as you remember it?
I am from San Fernando I live in N Y have not been home since Corvid it was nice seeing my home town. I am home sick now. You did not mention the public library at library corner opposite K F C Thanks you for your view of Sando.
I have not been home for 8 years and I was only there for a week. Prior to that I was in Trinidad 2000. I am planning to go back soon, so I am very happy to see this. I grew up in San Fernando.
I was born and raise in San Fernando Been living in Philadelphia for the past 40 plus years but i return home every year more so now that i retired still i enjoy watching the videos
I'm a Guyanese,I visited Trinidad & Tobago numerous times, but never get the opportunity to see all those wonderful street, thanks for your video clips.I love the Trinidadian accent,
This is my home town, my father and father-in- law is buried on the cemetery you walked through, empire Theater is on Penetence st. I appreciate your recording very much brings back memory so many wow 👌
I appreciate your style and narration. I am ex-trini that left many years ago so I appreciate your updated videos. Another style I like on how you make your videos is that you don't have music. Many others include loud music and sometimes I cannot hear the narration. Besides these types of informative videos are not meant to be a concert. Well done and keep the good work up.
Thanks for your input into San Fernando, Trinidad. I appreciate your words about the style of my video presentations. When you say you are an "ex-Trini" do you mean you gave up citizenship or want nothing to do with the country anymore?
I haven't been home in years, but there are landmarks and buildings that I remember as a young kid. Seeing these streets brought back so many memories. San Fernando RC School looks the same, but a bit more modern.
Born on Westwood St, lived Upper hillside, San Fernando. Then St. James, Diego Martin and last residence was Coconut Drive. Brought the girls (twenties) home in 2015. They didn't want to leave😊 yes, so much change! Currently taking care of my 84 yr old mom. She thoroughly enjoyed seeing this. I'm retired and now live in Clinton, MD now. Thank you. 😊
@@JBsManCave yes I took a quick overall view of your channel. I also subscribed and sent this one to my family and friends. I miss home! I plan to visit next year.
Thank you kindly. Here is an easy to use 'map' of my T&T videos so you can find other places to view: jbsmancave.com/trinidad-and-tobago-road-trip-map/
I left Trinidad in 2005, and i have not been back home ever since. Yes i am a San fernandian from San Fernando. And wow San Fernando has changed alot. Thanking everyone, in advance for the video. Be back home some day Trinidad. Keep the peace 🇹🇹
Teary eyed looking at this beautiful video. Some areas have changed indeed. Thank you for featuring. It brought back so many wonderful memories growing up in Trinidad. #Sando girl #Pleasantville
I was born in San Fernando at the General Hospital. Mom worked as a nurse there for years too. San Fernando has changed a lot when I came back. I don’t recognize it anymore.
Thanks for sharing I'm a Trinidadian born and raised from deep south... Batter know as Princess Town lengua village 🙂 Left there Since I was a Teenage! Our Parents passed on... Corruption with the Property 😧 Now I'm stepping into my 50'o and realizing how much the south City has developed... I feel like a Foreigner in my own Inland 😂🤣🤗 I do appreciate you doing this video Sir 💅 Tanks again Sir keep up the good work 👍 😊💖👌🙏

I was born and raised in San-Fernando Trinidad. I have been living in Connecticut since 1980 and yes it has changed a lot. High Street reminds me of my teenage years liming on Friday evening. Thanks for posting, making me homesick now.❤️
Thank you for allowing us to SEE Trinidad, through your Videos! It is nice that you walk and Drive around, ALL of Trinidad. We also like to see the Beaches in Trinidad. Thank you.
I am from marabella I use to go to school in San Fernando I have not been home for over 5yrs it sound so nice she sound so nice to me looking at my peoples I feel good
I like your video format, mainly because there is no soundtrack distracting the viewer, and we can see the nooks and crannies (😁😁😁) of the town(...city). I left Trinidad in 1973, at age 19. I was city raised (POS), so watching the sights of San Fernando is educational. My father was a technician who went all over Trinidad wherever there was a cinema, theater, drive-in cinema, to maintain and repair the theater A/V systems in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

JB I took my whole family from Boston to see tour San Fernando. I grew up going to Woolworth, empire theater and liming on the promenade. Funny enough I saw the same guy you video walking towards Presentation college 😅 I thought that was funny. This was back in April 2023. I treasure this video lots of memories. Don Cummings from Barrackpore originally.
Yes, good old Pres, my old school, the old house where MacDavid used to live and teach is now clear. We used to exit the college on Carib street when Presentation Sea scouts marched to the promenade church to the beat of the scout band led by scout Master Br. Michael Luke, and troop Leader Andy Karim who also played the front drum along with Ricky Waldron and myself. The other exit was used to go to scout house on the wharf to scout house after classes on Friday evenings. Woolworth, was famous for soft ice cream cones and there was Dixie soft drink factory opposite sports and games store. A lot has changed!
@@JBsManCave No scout house, the government minister vowed there would be no paralysis of analysis some years ago, Politicians, politicians! Serpents have forked tongues, with one half they speak truth and the other with the other they lie.
Derek, I'm lost as to what you are referring to. If it is about something shown or said in the video please place the timeline to it in your next comment.
@@JBsManCave At the wharf, where the water taxi was docked, was Presentation Sea Scouts scout house. Sea scouts learned, to swim, row boats, earned badges by learning to tie knots, swim to Farallón, have regattas, have band practice. These activities contributed a great deal to our all round development, building character and leadership skills. The government in introducing the water taxi service, took the scout house with the promise that it would be relocated, elsewhere along the coast as some part of a development scheme, in the near future. There was no relocation to date. Presentation Sea scouts, have now effectively become Presentation “land” scouts. The thing is, the water taxi depot could have been set up with no disruption a little further down the coast, along Lady Hailes Avenue, where you started to walk. If this was done, “the scout house” would have remained and a wonderful thing would have been preserved. We all should not stand in the way of progress, but does progress mean change for the worse? Or is progress for the politicians, who may have different agendas. I have noticed, that whenever a common sense practical solution is not followed, there is lurking behind motives, a hidden agenda. Hence the forked tongue analogy.
Derek, I did not know that, thanks for bringing it up. What a shame. Scouting activities are hardly mentioned in the public forum anymore and from experience I can say they are so good for youth development.
Quinton, yes, keeping it REAL is what is unique about JB's Man Cave. I recently released a video of the Usine Ste. Madeleine Pond, did you see it? What kind of video request?
@@JBsManCave Yessir, just finished watching it, pretty scenic. Could you possibly make a video, walking Manahambre Rd? also just noticed you've got a video about Baltimore, I'm about to what that next. Lived there for a few years.
Quinton, ah, I saw your Baltimore comment and answered there. For your request, I actually have that answered on this page: www.jborde.com/frequently-asked-questions/
@@JBsManCave Sorry I am only now replying. I do not recall what it looked like before. When I did visit I did not go to San Fernando. I looked vibrant.
Thank you for sharing this! Am from Canada and travelled twice to San Fernando! Enjoyed the park on the hill. Am from Montreal so we also have a park on a hill in middle of city! You are a very good videographer and most shots are very steady! Bravo will be watching for more videos! Travel every year to Tobago! Nice to see San Fernando!
Hello , i have left Trinidad over 30 yrs ago , i have visited High Street maybe like 3 yrs ago before the pandemic but not the whole Street i must say it has improved alot it looks very beautiful i notice the street to go Carlton Center i use to go to the bank there , i love the video an this brings back alot of memories ..👍👍❤️❤️
I left about 50 years ago. Went to school in San Fernando. I went shopping with my mother on High Street. Every thing looks different. San Fernando is hilly
I haven't been back to Trinidad in about 25yrs. Sando looks very different from how I remembered it. I went to Naps Boys and walked the streets for 6years then. I definitely need to revisit it again. Thanks for the vid.
Really appreciate the video man! Very well done. It gives an authentic view of the place. I grew up in the North myself and found this helpful and enjoyable.
Thanks for your thoughts on San Fernando, Trinidad. Did you see my videos of the rest of Trinidad? See: jbsmancave.com/trinidad-and-tobago-road-trip-map/
That my town. School, play, work, and movies. Best time as a teenager. The building and roads still look the same. The roads and sidewalks on highstreet need maintenance. My favorite hingout was the market. You may find my footprint along the streets of the city.
It's really nice to live in an area where there's no traffic jams.. it's stressful and depressing dealing with traffic jams and the chaos of passing vehicles
Thank you so much for this beautiful video. I left San Fernando over 49 years ago and even though I have visited from time to time, I have not seen it the way you have presented in your video.High street looks familiar but the only store I recognised is Nandlals. I was able to trace my steps going along the Coffee to my high school , Naparima Girls. This as so nostalgic. Thank you so much. Jennifer Ragoonanan
I remember the wharf. My father was a bus driver way back when. They had a lot of roti shops. Cafe where all the drivers ate. My father used to take me too get channa and roti. It was the good old days. They had toilet in the okd Tran station. It put a penny in too use it
The last time I visited Trinidad I visited San Fernando for the first time. We took a boat ride from Port of Spain. We stayed in the area not to far from the port to return back back to Port of Spain. Walked around a bit because my cousin and I were just walking around blindly.
I like the video, very well done, very interesting, left 51 years ago, only been back twice, but it's good to see how developed it has become , I like that. t
Lovely video, it felt like being on a holiday. What was that gorgeous red building in the middle across the road from the blue building. It looked quite Georgian in it's architecture. Also I think your format of filming, no editing etc is spot on
Ecriptus, thank you kindly. I think you may have been looking at the library but if you put a timeline I can tell for sure. Have you been to San Fernando before?
No I haven't been before, I actually stumbled upon your vlog by accident as I was searching for Trinidad California 😂. At 6.19 the building could be seen.
Ecriptus, ah cool, did not know their was a "Trinidad" in California, but I am aware of the one in Colorado. I hope you will stay and continue to participate as I cover more than just the islands. As for the building: "The Carnegie Library was founded in 1916 and named after a Scottish born American philanthropist Anthony Carnegie who donated £2,500 to establish the library." -- nationaltrust.tt/location/carnegie-free-library/

Hi I live in Diego Martin but my grandmother lived in San Fernando and I spent many childhood holidays there. Please do a video next time walking down Harris Street from the Promenade side. She lived not too far from Ali's Doubles and obliquely opposite the Kallicharans home/mas camp (not sure if it still is). I would love to have a look at that street again and her house. Since she passed many years ago I have not been there, but I remembet always going to church at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, High Street and the Market and the bakery opposite the playground opposite Paradise Cemetary lol. Gosh I miss my Granma and my childhood days. I miss my years spent at San Fernando 😌
Rashele, thanks for sharing your experiences. I have other videos of San Fernando, maybe I caught your street in one of those. Please search for them on my Channel. Outside of that for your request: www.jborde.com/frequently-asked-questions/
San Fernando is such a beautiful city. I wish I would have went there when I lived in Trinidad. Hopefully when I come back to visit I can take a trip down there. I wonder about the hotels down there also. Thanks for taking us along. I just found your channel. I’m subscribing.
Camile, thanks for sharing your thoughts about San Fernando. I do not know about the hotels down South, maybe someone will see your comment and advise. All the known hotel brands seem to be in the Port of Spain area. When last were you in Trinidad?
@@JBsManCave Right that’s what I figured. My sister came two years ago and stayed at the Hyatt in Port Of Spain. My other sister came three years ago and stayed with a friend and also stayed in an Airbnb. I haven’t been back since 2012 unfortunately. It’s a shame but life. But I remembered when I lived there years ago San Fernando was so far away in our eyes. Most Northerners stayed and shopped in the North and the same for most Southerners. I wonder if that hasn’t changed. It’s seems like transportation especially the busses have improved a lot. Seems much more comfortable and enjoyable ride than those old big blue busses. We lived close to Arima.
Camile, the distance isn't really far from North to South but what makes it a long drive are the bad roads and traffic. I actually prefer to shop in South... friendlier more chill atmosphere and better bargains too. There is also the Water Taxi now that can get you there in quick fashion. Next time you come you should try it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-09Bqb5EYbkM.html
@@JBsManCave Oh I must must check out that water taxi. And I’m going to check that video out that you linked also. I took the boat to Tobago the last time I was there. And I was impressed. Apparently some said it was the “newer fast boat” compared to the last one. I must say though in my opinion I feel like Trinidad (where I was, in the Northern parts) could do a little better with customer service. So I’m looking forward to my experience down south with overall friendlier people. Thanks again!
Mike, they are very lovely people. I always like going down South for that reason. How did you end up all the way in Bali, if you don't mind me asking?
I appreciate the amount of walking you did, especially in the hot sun, with all the hilly areas. This was my secondary school environment, and haven't been back in many years. So thanks for the tour. The only place I didn't get to see was Cipero Street, and Rushworth Street where my school was located, at that time called San Fernando Government Secondary School, now called San Fernando Central Secondary School. Still, much appreciated!
Apart from showing us a great organic video of San Fernando; you also showed us how fit you are, San Fernando is a lot of hills. 😁😃😂🤣 Could you do one of La Brea and Point Fortin? ...Pahaps in the future?
Halceon, all of those areas are coming soon on JB's Man Cave! Please invite your friends and family to Subscribe to help it happen sooner... I need to reach 10,000 Subscribers. 😉
-Ragoo, wow, the Bougainvilleas around the cemetery. I used the cemetery as a shortcut to and from school, from the Promenade to Sutton St. pass the St. Joseph Convent & St. Gabriel's girls school.
I love your videos, to me it seems like a dream, to see so many places like the cities, and the hebeautiful beaches, and also it's great to realize the remarkable improvement of the land of the hummingbird . Congrats sir and tkanks a lot for making me enjoy all your programs. God bless you.
San Fernando has really changed: as expected. It brings back lots of memories. Doctors, school, church, jobs, fete' play mass. Growing up days. !!! Wonderful !! What's amaizing to me though; I've always known San F'do as a town not a city. Hmmmm !!!!!
JB that’s a good idea u decide to show a video off San Fernando. That is my birthplace where I was born in the Hospital, so I would like u to show where the general Hospital is. The place look like a lot off improvement took place. That is 72 years ago. I live in Canada now. Please send me a pic off the SAN Fernando Hospital so I can Show my children where I was born.🙏👍🏽
@ JB’s Man Cave! Thank you for showing us the raw and real streets of San Fernando, it's been a long time since I've been there ( teenager ) but it brings back so many memories, I do appreciate that it seems well maintained and KFC and Royal castle 😁along with the convent, etc are still there. Thank you for sharing and showcasing the genuine beauty of Trinidad and other locations!!
Hey! Just giving you a shout out. I have a friend who is from Trinidad in San Fernando. I've lost contact with him. He was last living in NYC and used to live in a place called Starett City in NYC many years ago. His name is Wilton Clark. If you know him, please let me know. I'm a friend.😊
I am from the US living in New York I appreciate these tours of Trinidad I feel if I ever visit there which I plan to do I will know so much about trinidad. I notice in these videos there ar not a lot of street lights are the streets very Dark at night can someone from San Fernando answer that for meit looks like it would be risky to be out at night.
Tom, thanks for watching. What makes you want to visit Trinidad? As far as street lighting goes... there are street lights but I would not say they are very bright but if you are tourist I suggest not walking around at night. It would be better to have a taxi from the hotel you are staying drop you to specific night life locations and then pick you back up right after.
Nice one mate...never a dull moment...⚡🤘. All i can remember of San Fernando is going to The Hill with my parents back in the day with a picnic basket...what a view of downtown..
I went too school at HOLY NAME CONVENT. WE called it MOTHER ACHOOL.back in the day. I have'nt being back in 50 years High street I went shopping with mom. Naparima Is also great way on that hill. It looks a little run down San Fernando. It looks worse. It was nice when I grew up It needs a make over. FORGITTEN CITY. Its bigger than PORT OF SPAIN. Thanks for the insight The PROMENADE ysed to be nice for evening walks .
Erv, glad you are enjoying the tours. It depends on which part of culture and history you are interested in. For example, Port of Spain, the capital city has a lot of historic sites and buildings.
Living abroad and watching your video of my old home town brings back that nostalgic feeling . your video is very detailed with those 360 turns, that you make so we get a better view.I was waiting patiently to see you make that right turn on Library corner than going back down. High St.To see the best view of san Fdo in my opinion to go up Haris promenade, and to see the most beautiful scene, The san F' do general hospital sitting on that hill ,where I worked for many years, before migrating . The city has changed a lot after 30 yrs. Many new buildings on High St .you must be tired doing all that walking up and down those hills. And the pavement where you can fall easily. You have to watch your every step Your video is great. Awesome .
Koolness long time used to operate a taxi many moons ago. Now i live in St kiits 35 years now. Miss sando Lived at Scotland Drive. Keep up the good work
I totally enjoyed this video, thank you for doing it. Oh and you are absolutely accurate about San Fernando; well not so much San Fernando but South people on the whole being warm and genuinely friendly. I am definitely forwarding this video to my sister and friends who has not been back due to work schedules etc. I appreciate this RAW video...perfect.👍😃 New Subscriber here!👍👍
