Greg Cosell loves Pearsall too, he is perfect for this offense, I think he'll be great! But, absent a Godfather offer, I don't think they'll trade Aiyuk, even if they can't agree on a contract. 14 wins, you heard it here first! 👍
Good assessment. I’m not worried about the division but the Rams can be sneaky. I’m just hoping for health or that No. 1 spot in the NFC may be trouble. Then again, I prefer us on the road in the playoffs… call me crazy but the 49ers in white is a scary sight! What a time to be alive!
They are so many great wide receiver rookie seasons in NFL history. OBJ, Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Puka Nacua, AJ Brown, just recently. Did those guys have Brock Purdy and Kyle Shanahan?
I actually had the sneaky suspicion that cowling might get more yards and or touch that then Piersall this year. That's nothing against Pearsall just he's going to have to develop like any other receiver and cowling might sneak in there and get some big plays.
It is very difficult to predict how good a receiver can be. Hindsight is 50/50. Minn got lucky with Justin Jefferson. We were blessed with the Great Jerry Rice. And look at the Chiefs they are struggling to find one after trading away Tyreek Hill.
First of all, Pearsall doesn't even play the same position as BA. Pearsall is in the slot. So if you want some crazy story about how somebody is going to do better than BA and get him traded I guess they have to pick Chris Conley or Danny Gray. Doesn't seem that likely but at least you know make your facts check right. BA is a very unique receiver with a very unique skill set. I don't think there's a team out there that's going to put his amazing blocking skills to use like the 49ers do.
I like pointing out the blocking. No block no rock and guys like BA and Jennings do it with the best of them. And I believe Danny Gray is a goner. Maybe practice squad but another team may take a flier on him… we’ll see.
Part of the BA equation has been Brock Purdy. He didn’t fare so well with Garoppolo. Brock has uncanny accuracy especially cutting loose before the wr comes out of his break. That attribute is perfectly aligned with Piersall’s stutter step,and separation skills. Because of Brock’s coming contract SF going to need a starter on his first contract at WR.
Good call and although McVey has the chip I believe Kyle is the far superior offensive mind and overall coach. Kyle is a top 5 Coach imo and reminds me of Any Reid early in his career with Philly…. Not so much because of the similar losses but just their overall talent. Football is ultimately about a few breaks and a couple inches at its peak but Kyle, like Andy, always has his guys in a position to win the game. Can’t ask for much more in the end.
I think at this point trading BA is the only viable option for the long term health of the franchise. He's good, but not that good relative to the roster.
The best thing would be to sign Aiyuk, trade Debo next year, have Pearsall as a 2 and slots would be Jennings and Cowing, Debo is gonna want more money in a couple years… with a qb like Purdy you need to maximize his abilities with great route running, I know Debo is great with the ball in his hands but we’d have to sacrifice that for the route runners, and the others are pretty good after the catch too..teams with good secondary’s know they can man us up and put pressure on the qb, Debo is Great against zone and being schemed open but beating man is not his game. Never was.
That’s definitely possible! But they did offer 26M/yr so they wanna keep him if possible. They’re always thinking one step ahead and I think Deebo is out next season and Pearsall steps in
Delusional!!!! I don’t think a Rookie from Florida who didn’t play a super strong schedule who had decent stats would out perform a top 3 wr in the NFL is krazy
