Actually, Adam...a "trolly" or "trolley" must be powered by overhead electrical wires....the cable cars are not trollies. Great tour of various things in "The City", in this series....so much fun...I really want to go back again!
They are cable cars not trolleys really which is the only place in the US that has this style of cable cars. Trolleys run off of electricity from a wire above it. Those trolley cars you rode in are called PCC cars and were made after WW2 to try and attract new riders as they looked like buses in the day
3:58 A Cable Car is not a Trolley. A Trolley runs off electricity (From the overhead wire via a Trolley pole) The Cable Cars run off a cable which it grabs onto that runs underneath the roadway. 14:24 Not a Cable Car.
Adam, what you kept calling cable cars are trollies and what you were calling trollies are cable cars. The cable is under the street and pulls the cable car up the hills. The wire above the trollies is for electric power.
We went there and it is definitely a gorgeous property 😍That’s more towards Morro Bay area though which is about 4 hours down the coast south of San Francisco They frown upon RU-vid videoing there. The allow only for personal use. If he hasn’t gone there, I agree he should go even if he can’t video.
Happy late birthday Nat and happy birthday 🎂 to Adam tomorrow. Next Katie and then me 😃. Thank you Adam for this vlog I'm loving San Fransico and the Golden gate Bridge and the ocean and seals. This is exactly what I was wanting. Give us more 😃
Grew up in Daly City…it’s called a CABLE CAR…not a trolly…lol. enjoy hanging out in THE CITY. Don’t go through the Tenderloin….LOL. We call buses “the muni”. Don’t forget a Giants game and garlic fries…BART is the subway system
San Francisco is my hometown. Born and lived there for 26 years. I'll give you a little info. First, Cable Car and trolley are different. Trolley runs on overhead wire, Cable Car runs on underground cable. As a native I dont really care what it is called. Frankly that is the least of its troubles. I road the CA Street Cable Car to and from work for a while. I also worked on Pier 39 at a place called Neato Burrito ages ago. Always loved the sea lions. I left many years ago. Thanks for the video. Enjoy
Great video! Happy birthday to the two of you ! 🥳🎂🥂 I'm a native San Franciscan and it's so exciting to see you here. Other SF natives: Carol Channing and Danny Glover. Warning... don't leave anything in your car. Lots of smash and grabs happening mostly in the touristy areas. Otherwise enjoy your visit and have lots of fun!
Native San Franciscan's like me call them Cable Cars, never trolley cars. However, the ones with the electrified pole you call cable cars later on are trolley cars or electrified busses. Cable cars are literally pulled by cables under the ground. Those swimmers belong to the Dolphin Club which is an open water swimming club. Theire clubhouse is down by the wharf. If you are anywhere in Northern California and you say you are going to The City you know what they're talking about. San Fran and Frisco are the absolute worst. I feel the same way about Cali for that matter.
Hope you make it to the Disney Museum. Also Sausalito & Muir Woods. Another lovely area is Pacifica% The beach and rocks are so cool. A great restaurant ( breakfast, lunch & dinner ) is Nick’s. Note there’s also a Starbuck’s 😀 in the Stater Bros’s center, next to McD’s on Hwy 1.
You guys need to journey over to Napa Valley for some great wine tasting, good food and the beautiful scenery. Matter of fact it is the location of "Bliss" the world famous hill that appeared in Windows XP desktop wallpaper. Have fun guys!
High light of trips to San Francisco was riding the cable cars Trolly are the bus that are run on electricity by poles attached to the wires. My father use to drive both trollies and street cars in Cincinnati,
Wow, thank you both for these great San Francisco videos! You are so lucky to have Natalie with you Adam; nothing like a local to show you the sights. It’s also fun to be a tour guide, because you get to do the things you would never really do as a local and it’s fun to see a persons reaction to seeing things for the first time. You’ve made me miss The City so much 🥲 So beautiful, so much to see ♥️
San Fran isn't the nicest place around, will admit....the most liberal city there ever lived.....🤦🏼♂️ So much so, I can't even stand it.... sure there are historical places of interest, but that's pretty much it....don't think I'll ever go back, tbh...
San Francisco forever baby! P.S. as a native San Franciscan and someone who has always and only ever lived here (well, South San Francisco) Natalie is right. We HATE when people call it, “San Fran” 😬 for me personally, I don’t mind “Frisco” because a lot of Bay Area rap addresses the city as Frisco. There’s also a car club called Frisco’s Finest. But a lot of people don’t like the name Frisco either. I just address the city, as the city, San Francisco, or I straight up just say SF.
Happy birthday to you both! You should grab birthday drinks at the Tonga Room hurricane tiki bar with the floating band! And obviously Alcatraz, one of the creepiest most incredible historical National park experiences I’ve ever done in the USA.
Hope you get to go to the Walt Disney Family Museum open Thursday through Sunday! Also Sausalito across the Golden Gate Bridge is an awesome town to see too!
Try living there. Not the safest place to be right now. Too much theft, car jackings, hate crimes, needles, shootings, homelessness, etc. everywhere. That's why I moved!
@@LifeInBama You seem like a really nice person, but take it from an SF native like me, the view isn't everything. The same thing happened to all those people in Florida living in Champlain towers south. They wanted the view only to pay over a million dollars for something that wasn't even theirs. Tragic how that happened. People need to LEARN...that THE VIEW isn't worth sacrificing human lives, especially pets, the elderly and children's. I definitely don't want to die simply to see a view in a high rise building. I'd rather take place in a single story home with a backyard with my family, pets and kids right next to me so I can walk outside everyday knowing they're going to be OK. God bless.
Cool! I remember visiting when I was a kid, beautiful city. Reminded me of downtown Seattle, where I'm from, with the hilly terrain. I recall being disappointed because my mom didn't want to do the Alcatraz tour!
So glad to see the sea lions came back. I was there a few years ago and they had left the bay and no one knew why. I thought it was ominous like the sea lions knew something we don't. But they're back!!!
Been to San Francisco, one thing we didn't do the Cable car, big regret 😩, at least Natalie can give you a good tour round, we enjoyed it but there were a lot of homeless people around when we were there, enjoy your birthday treat Adam and Natalie
I am a native to CA but never went to SF except for business in the 80", but my last business trip was to Corte Madera in 2007, we took a ferry, across the bay and passed San Quenton.. dinner in the City near a bridge, not exactly sure what bridge. Best business trip ever.
He doesn't like extreme coasters. He mentioned it in another video. I always wondered why he never went to Busch Gardens. It's a beautiful park but lots of huge, crazy coasters. I personally would go on all the of them. I've never had that fear.
@10:37 The house/apartment on the left side of the frame. Pretty sure that's the house from season 3 of Mtv's Real World. EDIT: Since I know you have an interest in this subject, as I do, Manson lived at 636 Cole St. If you visit the Haight/Ashbury district, it's really easy to find.
Welcome to the Bay! Happy Birthday,Natalie! You guys should make the rounds of Google and Facebook. You should also visit the Hitchcock filming sites. Quite a few in the Bay Area.
According to Googlemaps, that is Fay Park...Shakespeare Garden is in Golden Gate Park. You were almost channeling "Magic Journeys" when you were eating in Nick's, haha!
What ever happened to predictability? The milkman, the paperboy, evening TV. You miss your old familiar friends Waiting just around the bend Everywhere you look (everywhere you go) There's a heart (there's a heart) A hand to hold onto. Everywhere you look (everywhere you go) There's a face Of somebody who needs you. When you're lost out there and you're all alone, A light is waiting to carry you home, Everywhere you look. 😁😁😁😁😁
Hey Adam enjoyed one of your great throwback you tube videos when you and lovely Daphne prev visited San Fran..A lot of great refurbished trolleys and awesome sites out there..Enjoy..
Don't feel bad. They voted for the weak and corrupt leadership and are reaping what they sow. Did you see the story about the family whose child was brutally killed and law enforcement has already called the case closed. The family is distraught. Also, shoplifting is rampant where if it's under $950 there's no consequences and basically a traffic ticket. Friends of mine had their vehicle "smash & grab" losing thousands of his electronics stolen. Call SFP they told him to fill out a report online. Retailers like Walgreens have close 17 stores in SFO due to crime. Cops are not allowed to vehicle chase criminals in get-a-way cars. I don't feel bad for any of this since their city officials are all but cowards.
Calm down, everyone who don’t live here. Everything is fine and we’re happy who we voted for. Also, we don’t ALWAYS have to make everything political. If you were happy with where you lived, you wouldn’t have to tear down other places. :)
@@rygregory Sure thing there pal. You go ahead in live in a city filled with crime, drugs, homeless, feces and needles on the sidewalks just to name a few. This is not political it's actually a crime against "quality of life" for all the good people who choose to live in SF. Take your head out of your ass and open your eyes.
Happy Birthday to you both 🎊 I remember when my buddy joined the US Coast Guard in 2000 at boot camp in Camp May New Jersey We drove cross country from Maryland to Orlando Florida to see his brother and sister and law and his new nephew, then drove to New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana to see my relatives. Then we drove to Las Vegas then drove to Los Angeles then we drove up on Pacific Coast Highway to Oakland and San Francisco and Alameda. His first Duty Station was on a High Endurance Coast Guard Cutter Sherman stationed off Coast Guard Island off Alameda. Driving on Lombard Street was so Awesome and the Pier 39 was Amazing as well as all the scenery along Pacific Coast Highway. Thanks for the Awesome video :)
Good post. FYI... they aren't "trolley" cars. They are "cable" cars which are moved by cables underground. Trolleys have electric motors powered by overhead electric wires. All good!
Happy birthday to Natalie and to you too Adam!! My birthday is in the middle-Aug. 5! San Francisco reminds me of Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda when they were in Yours, mine and Ours! It is my favorite movie!! I hope to find love like that one day!! Take care and have fun!!
Excellent video Adam, such a pretty city. Your lunch looked amazing. If you lived in San Francisco you would be skinny as with all those hills and stairs. Wishing you both a wonder Birthday
Thank you Adam for taking me to San Francisco. That was a truly fantastic tour. I am English and visited Los Angeles and Anaheim in the mid nineties and we only had time to visit one other city. The rest of the family out voted me in favour of San Diego. As a baby boomer San Francisco epitomised to me the hippy culture, the cable cars and Steve Mcqueen's car chases in Bullitt . My brother was luckier, he got to sit on THE dock of THE bay. Really enjoyed this and a thank you to Natalie for knowing exactly the right places.
It's so nice to see you go to other places besides LA. I love San Francisco! Lombard Street is absolutely stunning. I remember driving thru when I was a kid. The tourists would get annoying. The cable cars, steep hills, and Fisherman's Wharf are.awesome. The famous sourdough bread! Yum. Nice work on this one and James Dean. I didn't know much about him. It was very interesting.
Nice seeing both of you in my City! I was born & raised there! Still live in the Bay Area & haven't been back to visit in a long time after my mother passed away. You inspired me to make a trip to SF soon. Thanks for sharing this. Hope you guys get to Golden Gate Park & the Zoo. Cliff House by the beach is nice too!
Back in the 1980's, at the cable car stop nearest to Fisherman's Wharf here was a guy, later with an entire ensemble (including a battery-powered amp). yelling out for "spare change" between in within every song. I guess he's enjoying a comfortable retirement by now...
Maybe I missed it , but I don’t think you ever vlogged from the great Bay Area / San Franciso It’s Nice to see you finally venturing beyond the so cal amusement parks Adam Can I be bold enough to say next stop Santa Catalina Island with Natalie for some Ziplining and island famous Bison 🦬 burgers and salt water taffy ?
He did awhile back, but it was more Oakland, Vallejo & East Bay points north, following Green Day's origins/career. I noticed that driving thru the back streets of my 'hood made him visibly uncomfortable, & he didn't spend much time here before getting back on GD's trail. Can't blame him tho, even locals rarely venture down to that throwaway/lost pocket of town where Adam wandered unawares. If I'd have known at the time, I could've literally walked a few blocks & ran right into him!
Thanks for lettng us tag along ! ADAM & YOUR PAL ! The Architecture is stunning - I would to visit San Fransico - Wanted to ever since seeing The Streets of ... Alot changed - But theres a lot of Atchitectures still its wonderful self ! Thankyou once again !
It was such a gorgeous day up here yesterday. Though we live in the mountains of SC, we went down to Santa Cruz yesterday and it was so clear, could see Monterey perfectly. Cruised ( Cruzed?) The wharf and the Boardwalk, as well as downtown. Perfect weather!
I scratched this off my "bucket list" in 1998. I even got to clang the bell at the end of the trip! My travel buddy and I ate dinner on Pier 39 on a Saturday night. Went all the way to the end of the pier to see Alcatraz & the Bay Bridge before dinner. We also went over the Golden gate. Happy Birthday!!!
6:14 Spent a lot of time on this stretch in the early 90's going to Illustration school at the Academy. Lived around the corner for a year at Sutter and Taylor, and would have to take the Powell and Mason cable car to Fisherman's Wharf for work. It was so surreal using it for actual transportation rather than as a tourist attraction. And it was the fastest way to get there. Riding the cable car with my drawing tablet under one arm, and hanging on the outside of the cable car with the other. The conductor calling out "CAR!" as we all leaned in to avoid cars parked along the street. Such great memories.
You are making me homesick, lived at California and Fillmore after living on Lombard. Would take the Bart out to Daly City for college and the 22 bus to The Cannery for work. Good Times😊
thankyou so much. it was great for you to share your natural selves. It was real. Keep doing this. It is like being with friends. Cheers, John (Australia)
I have never been to San Francisco- it looks so beautiful. Love the architecture and waterfront area and the sea lions . This is now right up there on my bucket list! How great to have Natalie to show you around too. Looking forward to the next instalment already!
Fun video, but holy yikes, it's "cable car," not "trolley," Ghirardelli has a hard 'G', that '666' on the awning is just the address, not the name of the building, and the bank Patty Hearst robbed was clear on the other side of town on Noriega Street-- no idea where you got the idea that it was the bank you were outside downtown, 'cause that ain't it.
