Misión San Ignacio Kadakaamán:
Founded by the Jesuit missionary Juan Bautista de Luyando in 1728, the San Ignacio Mission constructed entirely of volcanic rock. The town itself was founded by the Cochimi aboriginal people in 1706. San Ignacio is a famous desert oasis known for having more palm trees than people. The streets in San Ignacio are very narrow and it was hard to find parking for our 35' long truck and trailer. It's better to set yourself up at a campground then drive in to the site to see it. Another thing worth noting is that there is no cell data in the town and we even had trouble getting a signal for calls. The town is very quaint and is easily walkable. The town square and mission are lovely and it is definitely worth stopping to enjoy the town for a little while.

The Eiffel Church of Santa Rosalia/Iglesia de Santa Bárbara
Although its design is in dispute, Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel was at one time thought to have designed Iglesia de Santa Bárbara. It was first shown at Expo 1889 in Paris. It was a pre-fabricated structure made of iron and was eventually shipped to Santa-Rosalia around 1894-1897. after it was acquired by the Boleo Mining Company.
The Boleo Mining Company was a French owned mining company that founded the town in 1884 and exploited the copper mines until 1954. The antiquated mining facilities in the centre of town have never been dismantled. Old mining equipment and machinery are visible everywhere.
What is also notable in Santa Rosalia is the French influence in the architecture. It is definitely worth stopping and admiring the unique architecture, enjoying a pastry from the Boleo Bakery, and of course, visiting the Iglesia de Santa Bárbara.
