What is happening is those who can move do move. The rich move, the middle class move, and companies move. What's left is the poor. California has to fund entitlements with no tax base. Those who do stay, watch their tax bill climb. Which give even the most stubborn person reason to leave. The entire state of California is one giant doom loop.

I grew up in San Jose. For a time, downtown was popping. I left the state 3 years ago, along with a lot of other people and businesses. The policies and politicians that liberal democrats arrogantly support are now coming home to roost. You voted for it, you got what you voted for. Maybe the last person to leave will turn off the lights and lock the door?

On average, homes in San Francisco sell after 22 days on the market compared to 26 days last year. In June 2024, San Jose home prices were up 5.4% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $1.5M. California is becoming land of the RICH. Average people are leaving (and some rich too, because of high taxes). But if you visit the NICE AREAS in California……NICE AREAS (Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Malibu, Montecito, Monterey, Carmel, etc), they are packed full of VERY WEALTHY PEOPLE with open stores, and restaurants (anyone want a $24.00 smoothie?! 🤷🏼‍♂️😂). Your story is correct, but the RICH are still in California…..in the RICH areas.

How to create and keep a city alive ... concentrate resources, skilled manufacturing manpower, financial management, and transportation routes in a convenient location for all four to coexist. If even one goes away the city evaporates in short order. What's left is a bedroom community or tourist trap. Solution? Go back to making stuff. Give that stuff to someone waaaaay over there. They give money for your stuff. Everyone is happy.

The saving grace is San Jose is also a college town with SJSU. San Jose will gradually recover as it does not have the SF lunacy. But things can get worse if the voters continue voting Democrat.

All you got to do is pay two homeless people to supervise the business pay the minimum wage and then the homeless people will have shelter in a place to take a s*** and you will solve multiple problems all at one time. But since your government is incompetent and since you're rich people don't care about the poor you have this situation you might as well get used to it half the population in America will be either incarcerated or homeless in 20 years
