At £165 you don't get much theses days...or do you? The San Martin SN004 Milsub Homage is an absolute stunner. San martin have raised the bar again with the San martin SN004...an homage to the legendary Rolex MilSub.
The San Martin SN004 MilSub boasts both excellent specs and sublime finishing which has to be seen to be believed. This has to be one of the contenders for the best budget dive watch of 2022.

You are very lucky to receive one with 120 clicks... It's a rock solid bezel... Most people including myself received a very cheap feeling 90 clicks with lots of play

Picked this one up in the last 11.11 sale after getting the SM Tudor "red pip" homage and being super impressed with the finishing and lume. This one is a sweetie. I was looking at the Steinhart MilSub, but picked this one up instead and not worried at all. In fact, with the NH35 instead of the SW200, I'll save a pile of clams when it comes time to service. Uhhhh... leather on a dive watch? I don't agree. Although it would look really nice on a FKM rubber strap. StrapsCo has some sweeties in their end of year sale. The only thing I'd like to have is a quick adjust like on my Chris Ward clasps. But we're talking a whole different price neighborhood. I agree with you, this bad Larry punches way above its weight.

Well done for picking this up. I had the Steinhart but found that I had to baby it. Same with Ocean one 39. Beautifully made but just scratched up on any polished surface even if you breathed on it. At this price and with this finish it's just wear it and enjoy it. Thanks for watching buddy and Merry Christmas ;)

Nice looking watch. You may need to shell out for a bergeon spring bar tool 😁 best £25 I've spent though. Moving in nicely on the 1k, too, won't be long now.👍

Like you I didn't like the logo but a logo doesn't make a watch. The PT5000 is a good movement. Just not as refined as we are used to. Sure it will be fine ;) Merry Christmas.

I used to own the Steinhart OVM and the Ocean 39 Black Ceramic and although these San Martin's are amazing for the price, they can't quite compete with the Steinharts...at least not yet!

I would say the lume shot that you showed on your SM MilSub blows my Steinhart OVM out of the water. The faux patina on the OVM seems to kill the lume.

I had the same problem removing San Martin bracelets. Then I overcame being an Aberdonian and bought a £10 tweezer removal tool from ebay. Now it's a piece of cake.

I find to remove the end links, you need to open the bracelet flat. The tolerances are tight but they will come out quite easy if you pull on one side when you unseat the pin. If you can hold it there, as soon as you unseat the other side it pops off. I am sure you know this, just a tip for anyone who has the problem. BTW I use the supplied tool or any SBRT I have to hand.

I can’t take the bracelet off mine either. Even bought a tweezer type spring bar tool. Still doesn’t budge. Maybe an extra pair of hands to pull on the bracelet could help. Still, it shouldn’t be this hard. I may just leave it on the bracelet like you suggested.

The tolerances are very tight. I got my wife to insert removal tool in one side and then I put my removal tool in the other then pushed down on the watch to release. Problem solved. Some folk reprimanded me for being picky but I call it as I see it and obviously you are having the same issue. Tbh it doesn't need to come of the bracelet as it is soooo good :)

@@johnswatchjoint That’s not being picky in my book. When I bought mine, it came with a complementary nato strap. But what’s the point in providing a second strap if you cannot easily remove the bracelet. Also, when you remove some links from the bracelet and you don’t put thread locker on the screw, it wiggles loose and falls out. I had my bracelet come off and I was very lucky that I was able to catch the watch.

Hi there. Yes I managed. My left hand lost a bit of dexterity a couple of years back when I suffered not one but TWO frozen shoulders. Was a horrid time. Mostly recovered but clenching my left hand and pinching movements are still difficult! Put it in my watch clamp and opened up with the help of my wife. In the time that you have had this watch, were you successful in finally getting the bracelet off and trying out other straps? How did that go? Any updates?

I did leave an update in a comparison video. I suffered two Frozen shoulders within months of each other...it left my left hand less dextrous and sometimes has wobble... I have good days and bad days. I did manage. The tolerance is very tight indeed so strap changes need extra care :)

I went to the affiliate link you provided for the Ali express page. How do I know it’s the v2 version? It doesn’t say v2 anywhere and is a lot cheaper than the San Martin website

Hi there. The San Martin website is more expensive as the watch listed there has the Yn55 movement. The link I have provided is for the watch I have reviewed. It is the V2 and is the same supplier I purchased from :) John
