That brown leather band is why I believe all bands need to taper. Great review as usual, you’re easily my favorite reviewer because your production is closer to reality opposed to other reviewers that spend too much time with macro shots and making the watch look nicer than it is.
I love the look of this but the crap lume and bad bezel movment make it a definite no. This is one of my favourite skin divers and I hope they get their act together so I can get it.
Since this is a review model we have to assume that this one went through some pretty extensive quality control, and yet there is still a hair or something above the 1 o'clock marker on the bezel. You can see it best at the part where he is rotating the bezel. If this is the very best they have, then I don't have much faith in just the average model. I bought this watch before noticing, so I will report back here when I recieve mine.
Watch itself is good, had some dust under the glass when it arrived, but i removed it. Bezel rotates better on mine than in this video. Bracelet and clasp are great. Customer service is pretty bad, but keep being firm and bug them for a few days and they will eventually cave in (atleast they did for me) Overall i rate my example 7/10, this is pretty generous though and from what i can tell these watches are very varied in quality so yours might be worse or even better. However I would not recommend this for the price, there are simply too many better watches in this price category, but if you can get it for around $130 or less then I say go for it. But if you are like me and really really want this design and you don't want to spend $1000 for the longines version I'd say its worth it because this is the best longings homage I've seen so far
Despite being a fan of the style, I only own one watch with an internal bezel. But as a fan, this is the very first time I’ve ever heard mention of clicks with an internal bezel. Are the clicks common or uncommon?
You mentioned this is the worst internal bezel you came across. What would be your best recommendation for internal bezel watches? I've tried a Timex compressor and it was miserable. It left me with a sour taste for compressor watches.
I have the CW compressor - bonus it's a true compressor, but just compressor style, and it's a great watch. It has a lovely domed crystal. And a smooth inner bezel. I'm not sure if they're still on their site, and they're in a completely different price range,. But it's a wonderful watch.
@@EscapeWheel CW can't make anything that isn't hideous though. Their compressor looks like a much uglier version of the alpina startimer pilot heritage
I don’t have a problem with homages and do own a couple but for some reason this one is too much of an homage. It’s borderline a replica with the SM logo stamped on it, including inexplicably twice on both crowns. I wish they would have set the photo copier to only 80%. Great review though, thanks
I think they should try to improve the design. I love the LLD but there's something missing with it and idk what. That's why I like the alpina seastrong heritage more
Good review. I'm going to call them Ghost Martin, until they use NH38 where expected. I strongly dislike how they are putting out watches on the market, like throwing stuff on the wall and seeing what sticks. Version 1 buyers should not have to take the hit, only to later see things fixed in version 2 and sometimes version 3. I feel it's all to often the watch channels have to give the manufacturers the input that the producers should had taken into consideration before releasing the watch. It's the same with Chi-Fi, so not something specific for watches, but a common problem where highly skilled Chinese manufacturers without departments for research and development put their own brand on the market. It works to a certain point, until their "fans" get tired of taking the hit, and stop buying everything they release. When nobody buys version 1 any more, they will lack the cash flow to produce the version 2 and 3. End of Chinese manufacturer brand rant
Great reviews you present however this type of watch ( chronographs ) style does not appeals to me. Only like a single crown type of San Martin watch any other brand with main aim of a brushed case sides. Thank you for your great reviews but not thrilled by the watch at hand here.
Beautiful band, just like my Doxa Sub300 professional 😍 I like my bronze San Martin still, great watches for the money. Edit, I collect watches of different price points from $40-$4,000 but I don't buy homages because I'm not fake and my watches aren't fakes either.
the good.. bracelet, case, clasp, crystal. the bad.. lume, applied indexes, caseback, bezel. the really bad, is again using the wrong movement. thanks but no thanks.. ill get another phoibos eagle ray or another spinnaker bradner in a diff color. original design and great specs.. or even a much cheaper berny. common SM if you're making a homage, although this is 99% copy, atleast get it right. thank you for reviewing it, i was considering getting one but now i deff wont.
Why do you guys right these reviews like you're owed something. I'm not even disagreeing it's just so odd...like sorry san martin didn't make something for your personal specifications
@@user-tx4wj7qk4t most issues with this watch like poor lume or wrong movement will make people disappointed by it. This is constructive criticism to help SM make a better product, which they easily can and more people will enjoy a superior product. The really odd this here is you thinking it is odd this is something all channels do and any written review on any product ever made.
@@sivanstar I was talking about the way you wrote it like you've got some objective measurement of good vs bad and then saying "no thanks" like san martin is personally offering you this watch lol. It comes off condescending. If you don't want to do that use words like "I think it would be better if...". What's odd is even after me explaining this you don't understand how to talk
@@user-tx4wj7qk4t objectively speaking the things i wrote are true. You can read other comments on this page. Having the wrong movement is objectively wrong. Yes SM made tgis product for thousands of people and if they want my money or anyone else thats what has to be done. If i hurt your feelings or if you think i shouldve used another language its your problem! Not mine. If you want to read anger or condensation or happiness then thats what your intellect allows you to understand which in this case seems youre lacking but full of entitlement in telling people on a youtube video comment section on what to write and acting like anything i wrote hurt your personal feelings. To be honest, at this point in thinking youre a troll with over sesnsitive feelings. Thank you sir for your opinion.
I couldn't see myself looking at my wrist and thinking I have an "almost Longines", and then when someone is asking you "Hey man do you have a Legend Diver?", what are you answering? I had several Citizen and Seiko in my life and then, when I was in condition, I bought my Legend Diver. No shortcuts, no fake, no pretending. MHO
I would for sure, but I would look at my wrist and not think that at all. Instead I would think how wonderful it is that I can enjoy the aesthetics of a beautiful watch (and many others) without shelling out a fortune that I can better spend on travel and my family. I have quite a few high end watches, but cannot afford the other 20 or so iconic watches that I wish i had. Also no one has ever walked up to me and identified my watch at a glance and asked me that. Ordinary folk simply do know about watches. If anyone asks me about my awesome watch, I tell them about how my watch is a homage, not a fake or illegal copy, and the back story of the iconic watch - often a conversation starter. Never once felt i either had to own the original expensive watch or go without. I also have a facsimile edition of Amazing Fantasy #15 (1st spider-man) on my wall as I can't afford the $1m for an original.
@@StrangersIteDomum Exactly. And anyone that MIGHT ask that would quite possibly realize before getting to the question that it wasn't, and the more likely question would be "What watch is that you're wearing?" because they'd be super curious what this Not-Longines-Longines was and probably extremely interested and impressed with it. I mean, that'd be my process, anyway. I'm generally not a super big fan of the San Martin stuff, though I find this one very tempting despite being a bit put off by the excessive branding on the crowns. But I mean, hey, OP, you pays your money and you takes your choice, but this isn't fake or pretending anything, and you full well know it. Even feel like you need to be dropping $1,500+ for a Longines to feel "legitimate" somehow, it doesn't mean anyone who's unwilling to is "faking" or "pretending" anything.
I am actually currently looking for a nice watch to celebrate my daughter being born and have a $2k budget. I thought about the Longines and then laughed out loud when I saw the price. It's almost $2k, gray market (Jomashop), on a strap, no less. I will be buying this San Martin for fun and continuing the hunt. I'm so tired of the Swiss watch game's "eff you" pricing they've decided to do recently and will be happier when I find a watch I consider good value for my hard-earned $2k.
