San Pedro Australiana - Part 1 - Why grow San Pedro? (Short Film)
See Part 2 for the Q&A element to this series
Please subscribe, like and comment on our videos to show support for our charity - This is a free way to say thank you to EGA 😊🍄🌵- www.entheogenesis.org
Talk Synopsis:
These tall, green, magic cacti already had a lot of confusing names - Trichocereus, Echinopsis, pachanoi, peruvianus, macrogonus, bridgesii… Then people started growing these cacti in Australia. The name games got even weirder - bogan, yowie, chemical shaman’s d**k, etcetera.
In this video, self-confessed cactus fiend Liam Engel will relentlessly bombard you with information and imagery concerning Australia’s iconic San Pedro cacti population. If you don’t grow San Pedro cacti, Liam will convince you that you should. If you already grow San Pedro cacti, Liam will convince you that you should grow more. If you still weren’t convinced, Part 2 provides a live question-and-answer session, providing Liam another opportunity to argue that NOW is always is the best time to grow and care for San Pedro.
Liam Engel Bio: Dr Liam Engel is an illicit drug researcher seeking to empower psychoactive ecologies and the people who use them. Liam works with ECU, UQ and RMIT, and spends his spare time figuring out how he can make room for more cacti.

The Opuntia Irradiation through Moths might be seen as one of Australia's biggest achievements. But it's somehow one of the biggest mistakes. OPUNTIA FICUS INDICA is one type of Opuntia that has very high nutritional value and very delicious fruits called KARMOUSS in Morocco. Instead of killing all the Opuntias, our predecessors could have researched on how to incorporate the pads on our daily diet because one of it's health benefits is developing the skin's natural UV filtration which could address one of Australia's biggest challenge: Skin Cancer. All in all, I love you Mate. Thank you for making this very informative video. Let's be friends shall we

Here in Victoria, prickly pear is a government recognised PEST plant. My uncle had a HUGE one that would produce plenty of fruit, and I ate a lot as a kid. I know of a bunch near a since closed rubbish tip in the bush that fruits well, and REGARDLESS of the pest designation, these people down the road from me PLANTED HUNDREDS OF METERS of them on their boundary fence. Driving past last week, I could see they're all fruiting right now. They've got tons of olive trees and have essentially ignored the prickly pear within 2 years of planting. They don't pick the fruit or anything.

@OffGridInvestor
@OffGridInvestor Год назад
@@julianchoque7402 back in the early 1900s in Queensland, there was so much prickly pear that the government employed people for 30 or 40 years to JUST dig it out. My mum read a book of the daughter of someone who was doing that job. They were trying to control it from spreading further. I think the land they were digging it out from was essentially desert anyway, likely never used for serious farming. But there's so many things classed as weeds here, they only try to reduce or enforce farmers to control a few of the worst of them.

Mustn't have checked too hard because it WAS an invasive species that they employed a few hundreds people to dig out for 40 years in Queensland.
