Jami, you can do this with Voo doo. You have saved many lives with your rescue babies. Just ask them to let you pack it under their supervision before he is discharged. I have every confidence in you. You will do it well.
Jami, one of the farms here has one by the street and change it every season. I love Halloween. The have hood up with mannequin working on engine and it has 2 pumpkins for his butt. So funny. Heads up when they first put it up front so many people called including me to buy it they had to put a sign up not for sale.
Hi Jami and Lester 👋. British Hospital pharmacist (sorry, not veterinary), wound care is something we're called upon to advise on a daily basis. You mentioned wound packing with antibacterial and healing properties. If you can get it in the US, the dressing of choice is Aquacel Ag+ gauze ribbon 2cm x 45cm (other sizes available) provided the Silver is tolerated. We use it in our emergency room for severe injuries and deep ulcers in the elderly. Anyway, just a suggestion. Whatever you do will be good. Much love and positivity for VooDoo, Stormy, and all the babies 👋🇬🇧xxx
Voice your concerns before plans are made to the vet. Have them change it in front of you, and when you come back, have them walk you through packing it. Make a make shift stall in one of the buildings and have Ivy stay with him. Use the round pen to make a corral in the yard for the two of them to stay in. You can change its location weekly so it doesn't wear down. As far as Storm is concerned, she doesn't look very pregnant. Her belly isn't very big so it might be too early. The ultra sound is a long wand that can reach into the rectum near the uterus to see it. Dr. Pol has done it, and they do it to cows.
Lester dont mess around with knee issues please. I just had my 2nd partial knee replacement July 9th and my first one March 25th. I did this before I needed 2 total knee replacements. When i am all done with PT i will have no restrictions and have saved the rest of my knee. Please think about getting it fixed if you can. Yes it sucks, its hard and its painful but its worth it having an end result of no pain and no restrictions. Competing in barrel racing with my horse 😅s one of the contributing factors with my knees and hotting the barrels over and over again. Please think about getting your knee fixed my friend. Blessings to you all!!
I agree. I hope he doesn’t wait too long. I am so happy I did my knees. It takes awhile to recover but what a great improvement to my life. Until Lester believes he deserves to live his best life I fear he will be like his dad.
Yay! I love that you are putting the book to use!!! I wasn’t sure if a book and pen was too outdated for 2024. I am Shute there is N app for that, but I am old school. I like to see things on paper! Glad you liked it! I
I love the building him a "clean stall" for the wound dressing procedures. I'd build 2 indoor stalls though one that's for cleaning him off if he gets dirty feet then a 2nd one that's the true clean space. Put a pair of brand new clean shoes in the clean stall area so no dirt is tracked in. And maybe even get the coverups surgeons use and keep them in a clean box. You can replicate the environment they have there though not perfectly it will work! I was also thinking use the yard where you have grass n not dirt as his paddock use temporary fencing like cattle panels on t posts if you have a t-post puller so they come up nice n neat make sure you get him an area where he can nose with the others but they can't reach his neck.
I have a Corgi named LyZA Jayne and she tries to break me several times a day. And I’m 72 years old and also worry about breaking myself. Love you guys and your banter. 🙃
When my son was burned, and I had to be his burn nurse for almost 6 weeks, I ordered supplies for him from Medline directly. I had called and talked to them for guidance. Hibiclens, or generic, is an amazing antimicrobial skin cleanser!! I still keep it on hand. The first time on your own will be the worst, then you will get the hang of it. I used to see my son up in a "shirt" of surgilast after his debriding shower, daily, so his gauze would not shift. You could try using surgilast to keep his bandage from shifting if he rolls. Some yarn and a plastic needle would make it easy to sew a length in place, or roll up some like a stocking to slip over his head. You will do just fine!!
Lester and Jami. Put voodoo in a separate field then you can introduce the other horses again to voodoo so he doesn't get excited by starting to run around
Both horse. I do all kinds of crafts, needle poin5, crochet sewing, knotting it all, seasonal with me, I so looking forward to seeing Vo home and stormy baby. Jami you will figure it out amazon has everthing you will need Dr Cochran can help too
Lester, the animals can take over the garage. Call it Animal Barn. 😃 You need to divvy up the space into a horse room, a dog room, and a cat room. A horse room for Voodoo's recovery. A dog room for all the dogs to sleep in, eat, and hang out. A cat room for all the cats to sleep in, eat and have fun. End of problem. 😅 P.S. If you don't want to use the garage, move the ISS barndominium structure to LHL. Do you want any more ideas? I can continue, but I don't think you want me to 😅
Jami maybe A&m can order the gauze for you, and you can pay them if you can't find it anywhere else! Jami I think you would feel so much better if you have Bri come and help you the first couple of times, because of her knowledge, her love of animals, and her patience!💞
I have to come back, after watching all of it, my husband said he's never heard me laughing so hard in a long time. Watching the last half hour, wow, so darn funny. Ty I needed that, ❤
You can and should make a stall in the garage with portable fencing and clean hay. Walk him daily outside but that way he is not rolling in the dirt. Ask you vet to come out and change dressing daily or one of their techs. Not from where he is but your local vet.
Yes, they do make men blow up dolls! I bought one to freak my best friend out on her birthday. This was when we were a lot younger and were always in the bars. (1980's)
Lester, you say you need your tractor at the JL to move the logs off the fence. Maybe you can rent a flat-bed to take the old truck to LHL and bring the tractor back to JL. ❤
My worst fear is if he goes into the paddock he's going to roll in the dirt and get an infection even if you cover it which I don't think it's supposed to be covered because the air is supposed to help it heal. I think with access to the yard for the grass and roaming on a supervised time would be the best and Jamie don't worry you took care of Dixie you've taken care of so many of the animals I think you will do fine you have a lot of people that got your back if you have a question you're just so lucky to have such a community to help you if you need it
Lester I agree with you no animals on the furniture or kitchen Countertops except they can sleep with me in my bed! I have bad knees because someone clip me behind my knees and one knee went sideways OMG I’m in constant knee pain 😊
Jami & Lester I know things are shifting to go high gear to make Voodoo comfortable. Talk with medical staff ask if they have wound care materials you can purchase which they might prefer to keep products the same. I know you are worried how about not letting him free roam similar to now unless he’s harnessed & escorted just for the few days or so.😊 You think bringing Ivy girl to the clinic might help Voodoo get into the trailer or maybe Gatorade & granola bars would be a better option.😂
I was thinking this A&M visit was going to be costly, but its not like you had much of a choice. Hey I understand the issues of knees and shoulders I have to tap dance around shopping carts and crazy people all day
I had a partial knee slso. I think Lester is too young to have a bad knee. I hope he gets his knees and shoulders repaired. He deserves it. These days they have the latest Techniques on surgeries and therapy.
Lester, im in your corner with all your dogs knocking at your knees. I've had that happen to me numerous times where a dog knocks into my legs and hurts me. Unless somebody has bad knees then, they don't get it.
