What really got me, was hearing the movie was "based on true events"; which ultimately left me feeling sad for the survivor and disturbed that any group of people had to go thru being trapped like that, with nothing but hope that they will reach an exit.
@@sirrealviews LOL. Why am I not surprised? I hated this phony movie with a passion it certainly doesn't deserve... It reeks of manipulated phoniness from start to finish. I do like this kind of underground adventure theme, and that makes me hate it even more.
I wouldn't necessarily say it was fantastic, but I did enjoy not only the thrill of it but also the emotional side of it. I guess I have a soft spot for James Cameron action/thriller/emotional movies. I'd give a 6.5/10. And I wasn't drunk, not old enough.
It's entertaining and bit more realistic then some survival movies like gravity. Actors are cheesey but you get used to it., Over all good lighting and entertaining.
Honestly most people like this film but critic's and stuff seems to dislike it cuz cheesey acting and not artistic enough. Though great lighting and characters are relatable and great concept with enough action and chat.
The movie was awesome, I thought the deaths was actually gut wrenching, specially the first one where he had to fight the woman for the oxygen mask, I can imagine she was a real close friend.
@RickSomchaiAgain That's strange. This almost implies that 3 minute videos are something new on my channel. If you watch my videos for my perspective, and my videos have always been 2 1/2-3 1/2 minutes long, then it would be safe to assume that you feel that I convey my perspective in about 3 minutes.
I just watched this movie for the first time in 2021 and I was surprised how good it was it has its corny moments in the beginning but once they're all aware of the danger they're in it takes off in a better direction I really enjoyed this and would recommend
I'm not sure if we should go so far as to automatically assume he would be an awesome actor, but he's extremely knowledgeable and knows what good acting looks like. It would be interesting to see the attempt.
Its funny you say you would rather watch a 3-D movie on underground caves, becuase "Cave of Forgotten Dreams" is coming out shortly which will be similar to a national geographic movie considering it is being directed by Werner Herzog
Thanks to Jeremy, I had a dream about deep sea diving last night, involving the guy from Fantastic Four, a lion fish and a man falling into a giant fan while another guy films it and commentates.

This movie was fucking amazing. I don't know why people are saying its boring, people's lives were at stake and the feelings of hopelessness were excellently portrayed. It's a tale of bravery in the face of impossible odds and it was beautifully told.

When I saw the start of the commercial on TV, I could've sworn the plot was gonna involve undiscovered bioluminescent man-eating cave dwelling monsters that would serve as the main antagonists, which would've been badass. But nope, we get a shitty flood.
I thought it wasn't all that bad. I actually expectic it to be like a heroic thriller movie like jurassic park going into it, but as the movie went on I was more and more disturbed. It is very REAL feeling, is the only way I can describe it. It was exactly what I would imagine being stuck in a giant cave would be like. The way people died was almost disturbing to me. I watched a couple leave the theatre after the dad drowned the polynesian guy. It was kinda messed up
There is actually a NatGeo documentary ABOUT making this movie, I saw it last week; and YES they had a guy who did a lot of cave-diving as a main consultant!
@Alexanduhr I know you made this comment ages ago but he is definitely sponsored/partnered. When a video has an ad it means the producer makes a profit out of the content.
My favorite character was Luko (Cramer Cain). He's the guy who needed the facelift. Absolutly loved his roll, even though it was short, I like to think of him as a cameo, rather than a fill in.
I typically like James Cameron. I really liked Aliens, Terminator Titanic and, of course AVATAR!!! They're not intense story-driven pieces. But they're all really unique with good acting and insane visuals. Honestly how could you not like Avatar?
People seem to make the mistake of thinking that James Cameron like Directed this film or something, all he did was let them use his 3D cameras he probably wasn't even on the set when filming...
i actually liked the movie. I think people are being to critical of it when they say the characters are shallow and bland. in real life that's what a lot of people are like... also the movie really plays to the phobias of enclosed spaces, entrapment, and of drowning (all of which i unfortunately have). so i disagree with you on this one Jeremy. i think if you were to try watching it again with a mind set where you might actually like the movie and not try to just criticize it you would like it.
I think the moment the trailer said "James Cameron Presents" and then threw in the 3-D nonsense was about the time I thought: "Yeah I'm going to save the money and just buy Scott Pilgrim versus the World on Blu Ray".
@Alexanduhr The guy would make an amazing actor. He just has it. And I don't mean to shitty series that make you chuckle when the recorded laughs are heard, and make you wonder why you should laugh. I mean, he's like a new Jim Carrey man! And that's an honor because the guy was... awesomtacular! (applause heard below)
I think you're right in that Nat Geo can finally make a killing in the cinemas by making 3D films. Disney has been doing a documentary-like film each year for the past three years or so that comes at the end of the spring season, so I don't see why not.

Surprisingly I thought Poseidon was cool, overall. It's not really about the characters for me, I just liked the beautiful shots and the cruise ship itself. The acting could of been worse. Not sure I really want to see Sanctum though, I'm tired of 3D.
I rented this from Netflix during the America's free movie night promotion. Because Rio was not available yet. So I rented Sanctum which was the only movie I kind of wanted to see because you know, it's from the same guy who did Avatar so I was expecting some really cool CGI. But really, the movie was sooo boring and it seemed like a very budget tight movie for something that is trying to be comparable to Avatar and Titanic. Most of it are just up close shots of them in the cave, boring
people for some amazing reason disrespect divers now matter what happens to us when we dive. it is by far more dangerous then many other things however people still say that these movies just plain suck. even if they did they still show you what i and many others must do. if people would actually notice that we can die than maybe we can gain respect. as a diver it reminded me of the dangers that we face and even my friends death while diving.

The television spammed me with commercials for this film saying "James Cameron, 3D" and I thought to myself..."Oh God, Avatar all over again." And so I tuned it out and watched some classic movies that were actually good instead. Glad to know this one lived up to my expectations of lame.
I was very disturbed watching this though. Maybe it's just because i'm really scared of drowning but the scene where someone drowned made me very traumatized. Yes there we're flaws in this movie but there we're good things too.
@tf2Jironimo i soooooo agree i LOVED this movie it was so intense that i was on the edge of my seat. i was soo in to it i didnt care if the actors sucked (which i didnt care enough to look for it thanks for a positive comment on this AMAZING movie
The lead character has to be the least charismatic hero in mainstream movie history. There is a "mercy killing" by this guy, when another character is badly hurt, that is just awful, and leaves a bad taste throughout the entire movie. I'm not saying the concept of it is unrealistic (or that the dying character had any chance, given the deliberate and highly manipulated way things are presented), but in real life things are never, or rarely, so clear cut that you resort to that option without at least hesitating a fair amount of time... The whole concept of the dangers they put themselves under is just dumb: They can't anticipate weather at all, or allow people going under with depleted tanks? A death is acceptable when it doesn't look like a pre-ordained outcome, and this movie consistently felt like a manipulated story to get to these avoidable dramas. I would even say it is textbook example of manipulated drama, with detestable leads that, worst of all, play it tough like "this is the way it is, and we know what we are doing". There's few movies I despise more that I have seen in my entire life, so that is a kind of achievement. As one reviewer pointed out in amazement: "James Cameron was involved in this? It must be the absolute low point of his career."
@CriticsBusiness I admit Cameron is a good director but for some reason I don't like him and I can't work out why. Alien and both Terminators are superb movies. While Titanic and Avatar are good films.
@IDMWEIGHTSIDM That's exactly how I felt. I just felt many shots was just another day in the special effects studio with fake rocks and water. Like everything seemed controlled like they were on the tram ride at Universal Studios. And many of the actors were horrible, so when one died, it was just one less bad actor. I guess that is why we need to have highly paid actors out there because it must be difficult to pretend to be who you are not and make it believable at the same time.
No. Pretty sure people are not shallow and bland. And ''in real life that is how it is'' is not an excuse. Fuck it then, every shallow and bland character has an excuse.
