CT, I really admire your undeniable passion you have for these automobiles, not everyone can understand it..some folks would say that is too far gone and junk it...but not you, that's the kind of passion that's rare, you are one of a dieing breed and I really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing man!✌✌✌
Wow Wesley! Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! It's a ton of fun working on them and I plan on doing it for a long time! I learn something new everyday! Thanks for the support my friend! =)
Yay! Finally that's what I was talking about.. A proper cleaning.. Blasting does magic! =) Also consider some chemical anti rust after blasting.. Well, about the carman... I think it will sit on the lift for a long time.. and lots of work is needed to bring it to about the shape it was.. I wouldn't drive it around before fixing it. Keep good work flowing. Good luck.
Need to upgrade that blaster cabinet with inside light and a filter inline for the water coming through. Also you need to upgrade the gun. It will absolutely make media blasting a breeze once you do that. It will blast quicker and cleaner as well. I know, I have the same blaster cabinet... But glad to see you clean the parts now! Thumbs Up!
At 25:49 on the left side you showed the heat exchangers on their way to the sand blasting. Be very careful and chck them! If there are not perfectly leak-proof between the exhausting and the heating, it is possible to get exhaust gases in side the cabin. The old tins can also break if the car makes the first rides by heating up. The old VW-heating was dangerous for CO-poisoning - the driver becomes tired and sleeps during his way. If this heat exchangers are not perfect don't connect the heating again or try to get new heat exchangers. Regards form germany! I always look for news with the "Bulli"!
Every time I ever media blasted parts for my Willys, I continued till the whole part was silver. To me that insured that I had gotten down into all the pit and crevices. Just saying... I still enjoy your progress! ...Newk from Kentucky
Hey Timothy! I wanted to get them cleaner but the blaster was having some issues. We got them pretty good for this project. I'm going to buy one for my garage soon and have another go at it. Hopefully with better results. Thanks man! Stay tuned my friend! =)
@@tunichtgut5285 We got them pretty close but they could be better. That was the first time I've ever blasted. I'm going to but one soon and get some done next week hopefully! Thanks man! Stay tuned my friend! =)
HEY CT i really like to see the video of the Bus Ridding if it all done up,TKS for your videos, oh n good job cleaning the garage too, in P R we say is a place for everything n everything in it`s Place is good
Nice job. I love the three speed on the column on the Ford. I learned to drive stick on one. Looks like you need s new rubber pad on the clutch pedal.....
Hi Man! How are you? I accompany your channel and love watching the restoration of your 1962 Volkswagen Type 2 Van/Bus, very good !!!!! I apologize for the English, I'm using the Google translator, but here I leave my considerations of success and peace !!! Thank you, congratulations and even more !!!! Oh, there's a rock'n'roll you always use as a soundtrack, what's the name of this song? Which band? Success, peace and joy always !!!! My name is "Luciano Luz Brasil" !!!
Hello Luciano! Thank you man! I really appreciate that my friend! The band is from iMovie! I not sure of the name. I'm glad you like it. Thank you!!! Stay tuned! =)
The company to which you purchase the parts for the restoration of your 1962 Volkswagen Type 2 Van / Bus specializes in antique parts ???? Does it export? I have a VW Beetle 1972 and a VW Gol 1987 and soon I will restore them. If you can, can you send me the contacts of this company, please? Can be??? Big hug and success always !!!
Man I was super excited when I saw this video dropped. With the image of the guy doing some major blasting I was excited. Oh well still great work man. Should definitely give POR-15 a chance, pricey but you’ll never have to worry about rust again if u blast and cover in that stuff. On the flip side what’s wit all the rust in Florida? Good work CT
Hey R! Yes, I had that thumbnail up and removed it. I don't like to click bait. The more I thought about it the more I wanted to change it. We are close to the ocean! Thank you! Stay tuned for more! =)
I realize Dennis is helping by allowing you to use his equipment but MAN, watching you sandblast or should I say, try to sandblast was painful to watch!! Keep up the great work!!
nice job brò, i have brought the engine covers of my beetle to sandblast and to dust paint because it's more durable (i hope dust paint is the right term)
I’m guessing you mean powder coat.. The parts are given an electrostatic charge and sprayed with powdered paint. Then they are baked at high temperature. Gives a nice hard finish.
That garbage of a sandblaster made me ill watching it plug up on you all the time. With a good blaster and proper media you could have made those parts almost blemish free without damaging the metal. Sanding the surfaces beforehand helps as well. You still got a thumbs up from me anyway. The rest of the video was fine.
Yes, it needed some help. That was might first time sandblasting and it was a bit of work. I'm going to buy one soon and do the upgrades on it. It's going to be nice. Stay tuned man! Thank you! =)
Back in 81 I saw a split window have a 302 Right behind the front bench seat. real short drive shaft. It would scream = No Weight ????? It was a daily driver!!!!
Has eating its Roman here when are you going to send another episode of rusty the bus to present a method for prostate back if you done anymore on them actually latest CD
That screw jack support on the aft of the lift looked kind of dangerous Could be slipping off hazard especially during unscrewing stubborn bolts and seized screws
Well, sandblasting could have been done more thoroughly. This blasting box looks to me more like a DIY toy. I have a blasting shop nearby where you can do media blasting on your own. They have quite large glove boxes (I have seen people blasting a whole motor cycle frame in that box) and most of all very powerfull air supply (300 cfm). You can select blasting media and vary the air pressure. Blasting under those conditions works ten times as fast an is much more thoroughly. However I don't blast delicate parts on my own. I let them do that - they are professionls. You can easily ruin a part. For small parts a DIY method is chemical rust removal. Citric acid works quite well and is cheap and non-hazardous. Basically you only need a bucket of water and a few table spoons of citric acid powder and a few days of patience for heavily rusted parts. I use two table spoons per liter. There are good youtube videos around demonstrating this methods. Check out Trev's block.
Yes, it was struggling to keep up. Wow that would be cool. I wish we had a place like that around here. Good tip sir! I will check it out. Thank you! Stay tuned for more! =)
....and too much blasting can shrink the part. pls keep in mind, any part has a given thickness and that means a defined stability. too much blasting causes instability. for the small parts like the engine covers i prefer to clean them with the electrolytic method as earlier describen here. good luck!
Stop asking the guy if he going to sell back the car to you,, it’s really annoying to me as a viewer, just imagine how annoying it is for him!!! Even if you are just kidding, which it doesn’t sound like you are!!!!! Thanks
