Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) got in a heated discussion about the estate tax, health care and President Trump's proposed budget with White House budget director Mick Mulvaney on May 25 at the Capitol.
Over my many years of living in America as a POC this exchange has rattled me to the core. My eyes have finally been open to what America truly is and I have finally been awoken to what true evil is!
More because Sanders loves to grandstand than to understand economics. Unfortunately, he never learned when he got his B.A. in Poli-Sci and isn't interested in understanding now, which is precisely why he babbles off numbers that he (as he admits at the end of the video) cannot even be remotely certain of its accuracy. Legislation driven by envy and your proximity to the compulsive collection of tax revenue is by far the least effective and gives rise to the ugliest and most desperate rhetoric from him, Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Schumer, and the rest of the knuckle-dragging carnival barkers. Socialism sucks.
Let’s get one thing straight. No one... I mean no one, can argue with the fact that America is crumbling. Why do you think it is? We are DIVIDED. As a nation we need to HELP each OTHER... that’s the only way. If we keep spending money on the wrong things (ie. military spending) then we will pay for it in the long run. Just watch.
I love Sanders, but I don't so much like the way he handled this. His points were valid, but still, he could have let Mulvaney speak. And Mulvaney's point about "We didn't factor in the fact that wealthy families would get a tax break" is potentially defensible. But all Sanders had to say was "Okay, well, NOW you know. What are you going to do about it?"
And people think angry old man Sanders should be president. Before you grill people over stats, get them right first. Most of these politicians vote for things they don't read or understand and then go off when they don't like something.

He is correct, though. If the Waltons donated their entire estate to charities, then the net tax could very well be 0 anyway. Sanders is operating on the assumption they are dying while they are having the discussion. You cant do that in regards to estate taxes.
Mulvaney appeared to be the ill informed one. His smirk, deflection, and condescending tone in response to Sander's direct question spoke volumes. I've always been troubled by the hubris of hypocrites.
52 billion is a bunch. granted, but how is it percentage wise based on income? if, the tax breaks are legal, wouldn't anyone take advantage of them? rich, or poor.

The Walton's (in Arkansas) are paying 0.17% MORE in Federal Taxes Arkansas has a 7% top rate, under the old 39.6% Federal Rate in 2017 they would have been able to write off all of that 7% so $10 of income would be net $5.617 or $10.00 - $0.70 (state) - $3.683 (federal). Federal being 39.6% of $9.30 (or $10.00-$0.70) In 2018 they pay the 7% tax to Arkansas on $10 and then pay 37% on $10 again which brings the net down to $5.60 - government makes $0.017 per $10 on high earners in Arkansas.

Ugh Bernie sanders views are so detrimental to this country. How disparaging is it to say that American families require government help just to subsist. Our whole view of government is so skewed. It is to ensure life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Government should not be responsible for peoples meals, healthcare, or housing. Get government out of the way and let the market regulate itself!
The topic I want to discuss here is why every true progressive mind should support President Trump and has no reason not to do so. (1) The definition of a “true progressive mind”: who sees the injustice in the disparity of income, namely 1% vs 99%. (2) Two solutions to this issue: (a) the overall political and economic situation of USA improves dramatically resulting in a decent level of earning for low-end of the social ladder, (b) otherwise the only alternative is the redistribution of wealth by means of taxing the rich (e.g. 50% on the 2nd million of income and 90% on the 3rd million, etc.) and by the justification of unfairness in the initial distribution of the wealth (i.e. income) (3) The key is the consensus of the population for solution (b) to happen when solution (a) does not exist. (4) The major obstacles to reach that consensus are the following big problems that have persisted for so long if not forever, and have CLOUDED THE ISSUE OF 1% VS 99%: (a) Global terrorism; (b) The federal deficit; (c) Illegal immigration and open southern boarder; (d) Drug epidemic. Any of these CLOUDING ISSUES can be used against the urgency and consideration of 1% vs 99%. How can 1% vs 99% be important when the life of an average citizen is not secured ? How can you justify more money for helping the poor when the government is facing bankruptcy ? How can you justify more money for helping the poor when the number of the poor may be increasing infinitely by illegal immigrants ? How can you justify more money for helping the poor when the drug epidemic adds tremendous burden on the welfare system ? On the other hand, after these problems are either completely solved or dramatically reduced, the 1% vs 99% issue will STAND OUT, and the portion of the population who want to see the current situation of 1% vs 99% persist forever will have few excuse for their argument ! If you do not believe that Trump has the true intention to solve these problems despite his display of true willingness to do so, GIVE HIM A FAIR CHANCE ! The Obama administration showed no intention to solve these problems and have greatly exacerbated these problems instead. If you can tolerate Obama administration’s policies toward these problem, WHAT RIGHT DO YOU HAVE TO TRY TO DESTROY TRUMP ADMINISTRATION AND TO IMPEDE ITS EFFORTS IN SOLVING THESE PROBLEMS ? (5) Paris Treaty for climate change: Paris Treaty is extremely important for the health of the Earth. However, because I believe that the future of this country depends on the success of Trump administration (as far as solving the above problems goes), if its success depends on the required economic growth and the economic growth depends on the TEMPORARY WITHDRAW from the Paris treaty, I support it ! (6) Tulsi Gabbard for President 2024 !

Venezuela's problems stem mostly from US sanctions not socialism. if you want to prove its socialism lift all sanctions and resume full trade cooperation.

Powerful Bernie Sanders. We really missed a chance in 2016. We would be having a great change in our country but in a way that would benefit all. Bernie has already changed our country for the better. Look at the diversity of people at his rallies. That type of diversity is the America I want to live in.
I don't go either way when it comes to Bernie Sanders, I dont know enough about him to really judge his political views. But he sure seems a bit.... incoherent almost. Like he knows what he wants to say but can't quite stay on topic. In no way do I hate him, and I'm not slandering his character at all. He just seems to struggle with some things. The other guy, Mulvaney, seemed to legitimately try to answer the questions but kept getting cut off because Sanders couldn't follow...
