The 1965 International 6 Hour Touring Car Race, an endurance race for touring cars, was held at the Sandown Park circuit in Victoria, Australia on 21 November 1965, where
Frank Gardner and Kevin Bartlett drove the Alec Mildren Alfa Romeo TI Super to victory. At the start of the video, watch for Alec himself driving the Alfa round the Sandown track with an in-car camera. ICMR believes Mildren is an unsung hero of Australian motor sport history. Enjoy!

Wonderful footage I have never lived further than 15km from Sandown and I enjoyed seeing the surrounding landscape.

The old track as it was. My father used to know Peter Manton well. I think i was at this race as a young boy of age six years. Thanks for the video.

boots not being able to shut, tires blowing, and all sorts of problems...touring cars have now come a long way since then

that Alfa GTA had great styling for 1965... so many hideous looking and handling cars in the race.... and extremely impressive is the open spaces around Sandown before the Melbourne sprawl of suburbia.... raceway is still there but built in by housing and only exists thanks to the Sandown horse racing track. without the horse racing it would've been sold off long ago.

Brilliant to see some great footage and narration from Australian motorsports history. Bloody moffat hey a win at all costs and proud to say it driver a whiner and dirty trickster at times and a very unpopular competitor but the truth is that man could drive a car very skillfully

Yes I agree on all your points there, as the very first race I watched was the 79 Bathurst and it was Brock and Moffat in a tie for 3 wins each and at that stage they were the only ones that had a chance of making it 4 wins. Or it might have been 4 wins each and the first one to five wins. As back in 79 I was only 9 years old, so hard to remember. We had friends of the family come to Brisbane on a road trip holiday and this was 2 brothers in their early 20's and they were driving a hotted up EH station wagon and they stay with us and headed to Bathurst for the race. They had told me all about Brocky was the man to beat, so naturally I followed Brock and Ford drivers were dirty cheats in my book. Just Moffat has to be given credit where it is due, he can drive a motor car.

The truth appears to be he made himself the bad guy according to his book . He was intense & Bad tempered. I remember him driving that car because of his accent . It must have been on TV ., but in those days you could get into the paddock easily under fence.
