Sandra in a rare interview on British TV. Unfortunately, low video quality. :-( * No copyright infringement intended * For promotional use only I do not own the content in this video! Copyright belongs to the rightful owners!
She is unique started off in arabesque then had massive chart success in Germany and japan , then she went solo and had an amazing solo success all over Europe .. and of course everyone knows her voice now she was the voice of enigma!!! i am Scottish and love her there is no one like her her early recordings was mystical almost magical very different music she made in fact her first 4 albums are perfection .
It's just the nature of the market that she was not big in the UK. I listened to this type of material on the radio in Hawaii back in the 80s and never heard her until years later. Once I had a driving job and I would listen to similar stations in each geographic area and they would have quite different things in addition to what you would expect. Same thing with Modern Talking; I knew Alphaville but never heard of Modern Talking until later.
I have seen this interview before they edited it ,and at the end of this interview, they where damn rude to this girl, now i see it edited know i understand why Tommie Robinson get so upset
really?what did they say?she was not popular in uk..v different style from brit scene.also she said in the 90s she doesnt like england so much..maybe because ot their sense of superiority..?
I cant believe how rude and incompetent those 2 tv representatives are. How can they talk to her like she is a brand new star!? And something more, they are supposed to know who they have invited to their tv show, obviously they haven't done their homework and trying to make her stupid and not famous at all, they actually made themselves really stupid and incompetent. My God, she was at the top of her career from 1985 to 1990 exactly when that interview was taken. And those idiots didnt even know she was a superstar singing in their own language...asking her if she sang in German!!!!! I'm sure the got into their own trap trying to put Sandra down. Im Bulgarian and Sandra was so famous that i would say more than Madonna at that time. Her posters were everywhere, later together with Samantha fox and Sabrina. Never Madonna- she became famous later When Sandra went down from the top. But she had Enigna then.
To be fair, he did say she was a really big star in Germany and other parts of Europe! But then Lorraine came out with some stilly stuff as when she mentioned about recording in English/German-Everlasting Love which was a minor hit here which she should of known was sung in English.
I'm french and it's strange and funny to hear them talk to her like she is new ' do u record in german etc.' . She had five years of super hits behind her at this time. I'm sure Mickael Cretu thought that 'Life may be a big insanity' had to be the second single of 'Paintings in yellow' because it didn't sound as 'continental' and maybe 'cheesy' as her previous hits. Big mistake because this song kept unknown in Great Britain and was the beginning of the end of her success.
It seems that this lady played dumb on purpose, and it did sound awkward. I'm surprised Sandra kept her cool and wasn't taken aback by it. Now I don't quite understand what you mean by theory. I think she remained very popular well into the 90's and remains so to this day, but her career per se was directly affected by the split with her song-writing husband, wasn't it? And then, like all the major stars of the 80's (or each decade, for that matter), she gradually went into the shadows. But never got forgotten. Her songs never aged and sound as fresh and perfect now as they did then. In one of her interviews at the time she openly said that she'd never choose to work with anybody else besides her husband M. Cretu, as he was the driving force behind her whole artistic project and knew how her voice was supposed to sound better than anyone. So she was totally dependent on him as an artist and never came back "to life" from that departure. Or am I wrong about it?
@@maladetts If we talk about sales 'Life may be a big insanity ' was her first real flop and she never came back to success anymore. Her last real hit was Hiroshima. She wasn't popular in the 90's anymore. She will still be an 80 singer even if she had 6 albums beetween 1992 and 2012. I'm sorry about that especially with her last album of 2012 'Stay in Touch' that was a fantastic idea and a fantastic album.
Such a shame she never made it big here in the UK - I listen to songs like 'Hi Hi Hi' and 'Heaven Can Wait' and I find it baffling that she never caught on - she didn't sound hugely different to the euro-friendly pop we had back then... was it lack of promotion?
I doubt she had any special promotion in Russia and Eastern Europe, but she was HUGELY popular there. We had all of her records coming out as soon as they popped out of the studio. I just don't understand why anyone in that globalized MTV age would decide to become dependent on specific promotion in their country as a devoted listener. Why would you even care about regional formalities if you saw her, knew her and loved her face, her voice and her music.
Mike Morris - what a terrible presenter and as arrogant as he is ignorant! - calling Sandra "a clever Girl" and asking her about sunbeds as part of a interview.... I can only imagine what she must have been thinking.
First time hearing her vocal interaction after so many years listening to her songs but is it just me? It sounds like one singing Sandra and another speaking Sandra.
