The Sandstone Peak trail begins at the parking lot located just off the Yerba Buena road about 2 miles from the Circle X Ranch. It is an easy to moderate 1.5 mile hike to the summit (3 miles round trip) that rewards you with breath taking views. It is also the highest point of all the Santa Monica Mountains on the west with a total elevation of 3,111 ft.
This trail is pet friendly as long as you bring them on a leash. Also, there are restrooms located at Circle X Ranch as well as one located inside the parking lot right before you start the trail. Do plan to bring water and possibly some snacks, as you will probably want to spend more than just 15 minutes at the top.
