I do visit this recording on occasion. Emotionally Sublime and Moving. What a wonderful treat it would be for us fans to hear and see Michael sing this and other songs. An “ole fan boy” can dream.

Michael Steele's voice is UNREAL!!! What an amazing talent this lady is!!! Please make more music like this, Michael. The world needs it, especially me. 😊 Come out of hiding and do a SOLO album like you know you've always wanted to. I mean if this is the kind of thing that you can do after a hiatus from the Bangles, imagine what you could do now with your hiatus thus far. Oooooh, a girl can dream. Some dreams come true! 💗💗💗

Gosh, Michael's voice is so impressive! I wish she would have done more songs/projects like this that showcased her incredible vocal range. The world is surely missing the treat that is Michael Steele's talent! 💚💚💚

Michael Steal performing Sandy Denny/Fairport Convention is beyond wonferful. I am an aging Fairport Convention fan and Michael's tribute is spot on.

Michael's voice is really evocative of Sandy Denny -- legendary in her own right. Supposedly all of the Bangles were big fans of Fairport, Richard Thompson, etc etc.

I was lucky to see Sandy perform two times with Fairport and it is so hard to explain how powerful her introspective music meant to me over the years. I enjoyed listening to Michael's interpretation of the Banks of the Nile. Sandy will always be the "The Lady".

God, I wanted to go to that show so badly...I was only 15 and no one would have taken me all the way to New York. Everything happened when I was too young, and by the time I was old enough to attend a 21+ show(which were the majority of venues they were playing at in the early 2000s), Michael had already left the band. So I'm glad there's at least a recording of this special event.

Michael Steele loved Sandy Denny for years. I met Michael Hamilton and Albert Lee through her, when Hamilton was playing in a fine jazz band called Jazzbo with Tris Imboden on drums. They used to cover Tony Williams' "Fred" - a real tour du force. Kenny Logins spotted Hamilton and Imboden and hired them for his band. Can't find anything on Jazzbo on google though.

I dont comment on these things much but I knew Michael Steele (aka Micki Steele aka Sue aka so many names she tried to hide who she was but I regress) and now she is disappeared from her fans of which I was one and her many many friends also I was one of those. We grew up in Orange County together. I met SAndy Denny too and still know Albert Lee who was the guitar player in Fotheringay before Jerry ?? (can't remember) I never knew Micki liked Sandy. But man Ms. Steele got better wtth age. In high school she was just a shy girl with a flute. LONG JOHN SILVERPLATE she named it. And now she's vanished off teh earth. Micki Sue whatever Thompins as I called you IF YOU READ THIS I HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY AND WELL

Thanks for your comment. I'd like to ask if you know, did she use the name "Micki" before the Runaways? (1975) or did she use some other name around high school?

WE ALL called her Sue. That was her name until she MADE IT BIG. I was in her last band before the Runaways which was called GOOD QUESTION. She just sang harmonies with us. WE had a guy named Ross Harris on bass. The group had Michael Hamilton on guitar and i believe she took her name Micki and then MIchael from him. I think the song FOLLOWING Michael wrote was about Mike Hamilton. But I have not seen Sue, Micki, Michael THOMKINS which was my nick name for her in YEARS. Every time I saw Sendy Denny at the Troub she was drunk out of her mind. The Fairports DAve Swarbrick and Richard Thompson could drink like fishes....

Micheal's voice is so hauntingly beautiful. Almost brings a tear to your eyes. If I may wonder out loud, and off topic- This concert was put together by a member of the Continental Drifters, so I'm wondering if Vicki Peterson asked Micheal to perform, and if so, was it out of- besides her obvious vocals- a way to "reach out" to her? given the Bangles wreckage, I would like to think so......

Deborah Carr Not reading anything into the interpersonal relationships, and you are correct in that we should appreciate their musical gifts. I was merely hoping that after the breakup. they were able to remain "good". But I didn't know (if I'm reading you correctly) that Vicki jammed with Crash Wisdom. That is good to know. Keep hoping for Micki to do a "guest" appearance with the Bangles, or even solo work soon.....:)

Deborah Carr No, I agree. Sweethearts is not my cup of moonshine. Truth be told, I only got into the Bangles when I caught their 1986 Pittsburgh Mosque /MTV concert on youtube awhile back. Love their House of Blues 2000 reunion show too. Back in the day, I didn't know they even performed "rock". given their "radio friendly" hits. Thought it was "chick music" (Sorry, I'm an 80's hair rock dude...) Love the 4 of them as a rock band, which is what they originally set out to be But since Micki retired, like you said- Time to fold. Love Vicki and Debbi, but Susanna drives me up the wall sometimes.

Vicki & Micki continued to have a strong friendship, even after the bands split up. Don't know if that's the case now, after she left the band in 2004, mid "tour". I'd suspect not. If some of the interviews I've seen are any indication. Vicki, in particular, tries to avoid talking about Micki by name.

+Joseph Rivett They never separated during the hiatus of The Bangles. In fact, their friendship strengthened during those years. How are they now? Only they know. I would like them to be fine because they are my two favorite Bangles (Debbi third) but Vicki's derogatory comments make me hesitate a bit. But maybe she just feels the absence of her friend (Micki doesn't even live in the same city) and she's a little hurt. I hope.

As I know...Jan 2004, her last public appearance in Liverpool along with Vicki...July 2004. I was searching some more recent photos of her but.............wasted time!
