FANTASTIC!!! OH My God! The memories from childhood that you conjured up for me with that song - priceless. You made my day with this Calvin. I also loved the "Cow Bell" touch. Chef's Kiss
Interesting!…I’ve never heard this theme tune but know of the show. As a Brit I grew up with the British model of this show called Steptoe and Son, which was the inspiration for Sanford and Son. The themes couldn’t be as different! The Steptoe theme is called Old Ned….worth a listen to appreciate how different it is. I’ve just watched your Rockford files vid and that was magnificent. Although I’ve not heard this before it is a great catchy tune and I’ve enjoyed it and so I’ve just subscribed. Keep it up mate, fantastic work.
Thank you, Ryan! Yeah, the clav is from Spectrasonics Keyscape, with some added distortion and wah, of course. I've always considered this tune the gold standard of wah clav, so I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Don't shake your head to do a harmonica shake. You only need to do that if you're playing it in a rack while also playing a guitar. Hold your head still and use your hands to move the harmonica rapidly back and forth. A whole lot easier than rattling your brain loose.
Great attempt -- and I am not a musician - BUT - I can easily tell something is not right about the "sound" - perhaps in the type of instruments - but there is a difference -- would be interested to know where the difference is coming in. Thanks for sharing!
You have good ears. For one thing, the low, groaning voice you hear at the beginning and the very end was originally played on a bass harmonica, which I don't have, so I played it on a regular chromatic and doubled it with a bari sax sample to give it some growl. Didn't fool you, though! Thanks for watching. 🙂
