Neat concept, but I wonder what the long term retention is going to be like with that pin. Hopefully it doesn't get looser over time and then eventually you'll have to worry about it falling out and getting lost.

Well, it is held inside by friction and the small spring (that goes into the groove on the pin). After a while (and if used a lot) it might start to rattle but I don't believe it will fall out on its own (right now I'm unable to shake it out). Plus a spare pin comes with every knife so even you will lose one - you could easily replace it.
