First of all I was pleasantly surprised by the packaging, extra parts (spare Omega Springs) and knife presentation - some of the best that I ever got to experience - kudos Vosteed for the thought and the execution! Right out of the box the knife feels like it has the perfect size and weight for EDC (I measured 3.11oz/88.1g), it is well made in terms of fit and finish and has great ergonomics (reminds me of the Ontario RAT 1). As could be seen in the video the centering on the Raccoon is pretty much perfect as well as the lockup, the action is drop shut and the sharpness out of the box is more than adequate. Inlayed, weight reduced liners, flat screws, micarta backspacer, ceramic bearings and a reversible deep carry clip with the hole cover complete the picture. Overall so far I like the Raccoon a lot and can't wait to lay my hands on the button lock version as well. I believe I won't be ordering any Benchmades any time soon because of this one. Hi man, I have a question about this one if you don't mind. I have a Large Vaquero and there is a spot near the tip that bangs on the inside of the backspacer every time you close the knife. This leads to premature dullig of that spot, especially because of the high glass content of that material used for scales and everything. You can tell because you can see the dent appearing overtime into the backspacer. Does the XL model do that as well? I always wondered if it was just mine or all the Vaqueros, or maybe all of the Voyager line?
Do you still own this watch? How has it held up over the years? Is the dial legible? The indices seem to be silver only and not very visible in certain angles. Thanks
Still running this knife? How has it held up? Came across a reddit budget knife post so followed that here. Would really love a budget kwaiken style fixed blade like the ones Burnley & Williams have designed or built for a backup weapon especially at work when everything needs to be concealed & low profile. When entangled w an opponent I don't want to fidget or rely on the lock of a folder.
Just got one for xmas. Doesnt drop shut but prob will break in. I think it will. Stonewash is great looking. Not a fan of the blade shape but im kinda stuck on wharncliff or manix. Axis lock is great. Lots of detail. The reall grippy close to the blade. Hard to flick open. I have med size hands and find it hard to flick open with thumb. Spidey flick all day but thumb just turns into a slow roll. Lanyard metal piece was suprisingly grippy and had contures. Only had it a day but very nice knife with lots features a details for the price point. At the top for a solid d2 g10 with axis lock.
I’m quite fond of mini knives too. My go to edc is a black fox bean gen 1, had it for years no issues, love that knife. I also recently lost my stat gear pocket samurai so will soon replace it
Great video, man! Your images are worth a million words . How would you rate the closed blade retention? I usually prefer back locks. My Buck Vantage opened in my pocket twice since I carry in my right back pocket and the flipper touched something when seated. Thanks in advance!
