I think it's important to know authentic vs. fake products so people don't get scammed. I also don't buy counterfeit goods unless I buy them accidentally. However, I also do not look down on anybody that does.
yes that's true. Ive come across sellers for example at the mall, who sell very good fake sanrio and sell slightly higher than real. People would never know the difference.
In the Philippines, there’s a thing called “Japan surplus” where we can buy secondhand items from Japan (furniture, clothes, toys, anything tbh) for very low prices. I bought majority of my sanrio items from those shops! I bought a big cinnamoroll and Kuromi plushie for less than $1 each. They’re in excellent conditions too! Most of those items were preloved and have their tags in tact as well.
The stores I buy from are physical stores! Although it’s shifting to online via Facebook where sellers would hold a live selling of assorted toys from Japan 💖 the most i paid for a Sanrio item is $4 i think! It was a Cinnamoroll foldable chair
There are other physical stores in the Philippines that sell officially licensed sanrio like Japan home centre and Daiso! That's where I usually get my officially licensed sanrio items.
Thank you for not being judgmental towards those who buy counterfeit. I try to only collect authentic items but sometimes you can’t beat the price of access of fakes.
Japanese rules and sanrio as a business are just being difficult and stubborn for no good reason. I think sanrio would profit A LOT more if their website was open to worldwide shipping. I’d be buying all Cinnamoroll stuff and my melody cuz they’re just so cute. Sadly tho they don’t rlly look at it the way we do
yeah, that import fees makes the price jump quite a bit! I definitely only buy real sanrio stuff that I know will be useful in my every day life to justify the price
I am a Sanrio seller based in Shanghai. We have 3 sanrio stores, items inside very pricy. But we have a lot of miniso here as well. Super great products and great deal! All licensed. The product with "sanrio original" tags are also good quality ones.
I always purchase my Sanrio things threw Mercari. I specifically buy Sanrio collabs cus they look cool to me. Sanrio did a lot of cool anime collabs I’m 2023, so I filled u my room with those things. Also this is the first time I’m watching your video and I enjoyed it a lot💗💗💗
Sanrio is the king of capitalizing on its best business asset....the brand. The less official Sanrio merch out in the world, the more valuable it is to people. Although many people love Sanrio, part of its lure is the fact that you cannot find it everywhere. Creating a treasure hunt so to speak and excitement when found. Although I too am excited that Sanrio will now ship directly to the US...I also understand why they held out for as long as they did. Thanks for the great video! I am a new subscriber now!
OMG MY BORING STATE GOT A MINISO!!!! I NOW GET SANRIO MERCH THERE. Also like everyone and their grandma has been collabing with Sanrio. I get merch at Hot Topic, Forever 21, Claire's, Box Lunch, CVS, TJMAXX and conventions. Also sometimes I get stuff resale from Mecari or Japan's Mecari
I loved this video! 😊💕 I usually buy sanrio second-hand since I'm in the EU, a lot of people who has visited japan sell their old collectibles, that they don't want anymore. I also bought through a shopping service a few times, but it's getting expensive. If I'm lucky I find some websites with a few products (Sugoi mart also has a lot, but its kinda expensive too) 💕💕🥰
I get my authentic Sanrio from pop culture conventions so like celebrity anime kinda of cosplay places they sell loads of authentic Sanrio plushes I didn’t even know existed I do get fake ones also from a little clearance store but recently I’ve been supporting Sanrio a lot and been buying a few on eBay but usually my authentic stuff is from shopping centres and stores with licences Sanrio such as big w, kmart and gaming stores unfortunately in Australia we r rly limited, most of the Sanrio authentic Japanese cute core stuff is brought from actual ppl who went to Japan and brought it over to sell which is nice love Sanrio so much 😊😊
As someone from Germany, i have access to the, let's be honest, really ugly European Sanrio Website. Usually i shop locally in merchandise shops or conventions... Honestly i think it's very cool, that sanrio does that many collaborations, so also people outside of japan have access to some products- 🌸
Hi! Im so happy for the news!!! Finally sanrio will ship internationally!!! Im from spain and i usally buy from mercari japan (via buyee) and ship to my home. Honestly, a few years ago i only bought the fakes ones because i couldnt access the website without proxy/vpn and i didnt know buyee (i dont even know if it existed at that moment) and ebay (probably fakes ones too but im not sure). Thank you for the info! Have a nice day!
Thank you for sharing ur help & knowledge, I better understand about the tag 🏷️ situation now, Rosie 😍 today, during a TikTok Live, I wanted to buy a Tux Sam plushy keychain, it states Sanrio Original, the merchant didn’t know if it was licensed either, not her fault though. Since I wasn’t sure, of course I left it be 🙃 I don’t mind faux Sanrio, I just want to know for my knowledge! 😀
I buy from Amazon Japan for newer stuff and mercari Japan for second hand things. Also places like tj Maxx, hot topic, and five below bc they really been popping off with sanrio merch lately
I love Sanrio ever since I was a lil girl in the 90s till now I am in my early 30s and my daughter loves it too, we buy from the official US online store.
Kuromi was designed by a Chinese artist, last I read. HK owner also handed down to grandson, who understands media. I’ve been stocking up on Sanrio for 4 mos, after barely finding it for 45 yrs!!! I’m a from the beginning collector & was only about to acquire & afford about 20 items in those 45 yrs! I couldn’t buy much for my child too, so now spoiling her as an adult.
I buy from some local stores in CA that have Sanrio stuff like Sanrio Monriova, Japan LA and a lot more that ship within the United States. But when I like something that’s only in Japan I usually buy it from eBay or Tokudeals. Usually I don’t buy USA stuff cuz is not as kawaii as Japan’s stuff/also I don’t buy fakes -unless is a face mask- because of the quality.
We are definitely lucky that here in CA we have tons of options for buying sanrio! I haven't heard of tokudeals. Thanks for the info! I'll check it out
One of the many valid reasons why counterfeit products are not recommended is that official products are compliant and tested. Save 20 bucks on a fake item but then don’t complain if the kid who received your gift dies in the fire that burned their house because the cute plushie wasn’t made of fire repellent material, or if the costume jewelry gives them early stage leukemia because the golden varnish was toxic. Be safe and buy real Sanrio only ❤
Even though, hello kitty sells in Japan is actually manufactured in China and there are a few official Chinese manufacturers with licenses to produce and wholesale their products to certain countries. (USA is not one of them) For example Peru, Mexico, etc You can find unique items you won’t see or hard to see in the USA, and better priced.
Big retailers in the US are definitely not going to be selling counterfeit so you're always gonna be safe there. As for Chinatown, that's another story 🤔
I’m going through this right now I got scammed bad but I caught it on and took pictures of proof I’m waiting for my money back. People be careful on these tik tok shops they have been selling fake Sanrio people even on the mystery boxes. Im a real fan and I’m a big collector so I’m really upset I didn’t catch it on at first unfortunately but the important thing is I reported it now so that’s all that matters
I get my Sanrio from sellers that buy products from japan in bulk like CharmsLOL or Rosey's Kawaii Shop. Also I get vintage stuff on mercari. I also get alot from the Sanrio stores and JapanLA.
Hola Rosy! 😅
I buy from Sanrio at my mall that I live 20 mins away and honestly I buy a lot of cute things 💕 also I order from Japan websites like Blippo Kawaii and shopify there’s this girl who sells legit and very cute Sanrio items and I’m gonna order from her in the morning I’m so excited!!
five. Below has some really good stuff if you can get there before things sell out. At least in my area it's so hard to get your hands on stuff from that store! 😭
I'm slowly collecting sanrio plushies, and the only store where I can buy authentic ones is from 2nd hand shops on tiktok (Philippines). I usually buy non-popular ones (for now) since they're difficult to find hence, difficult to imitate. I see a lot of good GOOD fakes on shopee (it's like AliExpress but Sea-Asia centered). I saw photos of reviews that fake plushies has tush tags now, but I haven't seen properly tags with Sanrio license seal or serial number stickers.
I recently went to my mall and found a little booth store in the middle of the hallway that had sanrio plushies and squishmallows! I considered buying one but I didnt because they looked a bit fake. I later did a bit if digging and realized that they were indeed fake products! I compared a picture of the plushies that I took to fake sanrio items on aliexpress and they were the exact same, and I then compared them to the real products on the website, and you could tell the difference. They were missing some things (like the polarbear kuromi didnt have a snowflake, the paws were off, and the bow didnt have writing on it and it was just the wrong shape), not to mention all of the faces looked off (which is the reason I didnt get them in the first place). I am really sad to see that at a mall as popular as that one :/ I feel so bad for everyone who has bought plushies from there, because when I went there, there were a lot of people looking at the sanrio plushies. I'm glad I noticed that they looked fake. I emailed the mall manager and leaser because I didn't know who else to email. I REALLY hope that store gets shut down because it annoys me so much that theyre selling FAKE products (which is VERY ILLEGAL) :/ Has anyone else had this same issue with a store??? Specifically in a mall??
this is more common than you think! My partner used to work inside a japanese mini mall here in southern california and he worked at an anime store that also sold cute merch, car accessories etc all supposedly from japan and the owner n managers n employees were all japanese BUT they sold bootleg stuff BECAUSE it's cheaper than paying higher import tax plus they wanna sell things at "competitive" prices cuz in california sales tax is soo damn high. Like, i get it but then WHO can we trust? 🫠🫠🫠
@@rosieoscereal exactly! It’s so messed up. The difference is that these people sold them at the normal Sanrio plush price :/ it’s really disappointing that the mall didn’t see this. I’m going to try spreading the word on this because I want to save people’s wallets
Also, i don like buying fake ones now because the quality is so poor, like the design, the materials... they are affordable but AT WHAT COST! (and yeah, the industry and everything around it is shit) and i dont that buying fake ones will make shops or brands (in general) give the license internationally (or shipping internationally) they see us like we will do something illegal with it (which we are doing) and not reliable. (sorry for the double post lol)
he notado lo mismo. Recientemente fui a un pueblo pequeño en Mexico y me sorprendió mucho pero tambien ahi encontre muchisimo Sanrio. Claro, todo era falso pero igual eso dice mucho de la popularidad de la marca.
I've honestly never really understood the point of buying fake/counterfeit goods (of anything, not just Sanrio). To me, having an officially licensed product is kind of the whole point, especially when it's a specific character? Seeing a counterfeit makes me feel gross, and owning one seems like an empty experience - you get the object, but with no substance, because it's not really the character anymore. I use a shopping service to buy directly from the Sanrio JP site for most of my items. I wish it was easier (and that the same items would be released in the US), but it's always worth it. It sucks how prevalent fake Sanrio items have become and I wish it wasn't as "accepted" online to buy counterfeit items.
Just so you know - sometimes, Sanrio’s US online store will stock items that were originally sold in Japan. The one downside is that there’s no guarantee what Japanese items they’ll stock. But at least it still is an option. ☺️
the point is that I'm poor and from a third world country. sorry but i'm not going to use half my salary to buy official merchandise just because it has a tag saying "Sanrio", though really wish I could.
@@szmeisz It sucks that there's not equal access to Sanrio products everywhere, but I still can't support counterfeits. Ripping off intellectual property just isn't something I can look past.
@@rosieoscereal where i go there are always sanrio stuff hiding between the other products!! make sure to look really well. wish they would add a sanrio wall but atleast there are some
I buy my products from Japan LA, Kinokunya books, Miniso (Temu has some and I think they are Liscenced but won't know till I get them in the mail)and Amazon JP has an official Sanrio Liscenced store and they ship to you directly!
JapanLA has such a good selection of items. I have yet to buy from them though. I didn't know that Amazon JP could ship overseas. I definitely need to check that out! Thanks for the info!
