depends were u go the westside cities Beverly Hills Bel Air Brentwood Pacific Palisades Malibu etc. are safe to run walk and drive for the most part and private communities its the east and south central part of la u have to worry about like east la florence compton downtown la etc.

u should've cruised down amalfi drive in pacific palisades give a tour of some celeberty homes! LOL

I only occasionaly pass through Van Nuys/Encino so Im no expert, but you can check out the Le Meridian, Sonterra Bliss, Sienna @ West Hills they rent for about $800/monthly for a studio or one bedroom at least. You can scope around, and maybe haggle a little.

only problem with those areas is the traffic took me 25min just to get on the on ramp of the 405fwy comming from bundy in BRENTWOOD!!!!!!!!

most people with average incomes rarely stay in those westside areas when they do they live with the rich and famous cause the lowest 2 bed 1 bath home u can find their will be priced around $700,000 when in the valley and santa clarita you can find a 3 bed 2 bath with pool home for $350,000!!!!!!!
