Santa's Christmas Circus Starring Whizzo the Clown - The Cinema Snob 

Also I refuse to believe that Fun in ballonland and this movie are not happening simultaneously.

As much of a bad wrap clowns get. Wizzo does seem to genuinely want to entertain. Not nearly as freaky as King Neptune in balloon land.

Watching Wizzo is exhausting but hilarious. He talks non stop from the start of the movie till the end.

Take parts of this special, put them over some nuclear bomb tests, add a filter and boom, Rob Zombie music video.

my pops grew up in MO and i've heard all about whizzo. dad still knows the theme song.

And then he curled up under a blanket for 27 years before returning to Derry, Maine to feast on more kids' terror!

That last shot looks like Whizzo is going to cry himself to sleep. Just like every Christmas.

That little elf girl totally smashes her face into that doorknob, right around 16:50...

Thank you for making this! I keep asking my parents to show me this and rent the Rifftrax of this when I visit (I live out of the country) because John Bilyeu was my grandpa! Gonna watch this and show my husband how my grandpa was kinda a big deal. I wish the two could have met... UPDATE: oh my god, hearing him speak made me tear up. Damn.

I remember seeing this on Rifftrax. The poor girl would not stop coughing, and man was it funny.

I expected Whizzo to pull a gun out and shoot Santa during a horrible joke.

I find this less creepy than Fun in Balloonland, probably because there was no Sea King or nightmarish balloon monsters.

That one kid is texting during the old "my foots gone" gag... almost 50 years before smartphones were even invented.

Thanks for this. Frank Wiziarde was iconic in the Midwest. I remember seeing this and it is surely cringey but fun. 1966 seems like a long time ago. The kids were from Johnny Miller Dance Studio. And this was completely local.

I'll give Whizzo this: I'd rather watch this Christmas special than most of the others Snob's dug up.

The Rifftrax on this and Balloon Land are great, even if I have to sit through those movies and have nightmares later

The RIFFTRAX take on this is hilarious. Prefaced by a terrible Xmas short about creepy Christmas trees with human faces (made by a group of French mimes - something that should never happen).

Little known fact there was a nation wide outage of speed in December of 66 because Whizzo did all of it before taping this special.

Huh, this Joker remake turned out weirder then I expected.

The sequel to Santa’s Christmas Elf (Named Calvin) is going in a lot of really weird directions but at least there’s MOTION!

I'm from Missouri. Never heard of Whizzo the Clown before, but I grew up around people who talked with the same mannerisms and inflections he does. It's actually kind of nice to hear something like that again, even if it is through the vessel of a hell-spawn 1960s children's entertainment program.

Is it just me, or does Frank Wiziardi's voice bears a strong resemblance to Paul Winchell. (Tigger, Dick Dastardly, Gargamel, etc.)

Frank Wiziarde sounds like a comic character's name that would become a supervillain with the name something Wizard. Probably a speedster called Whizzing Wizard.

These are my favorite types of things for Snob to review, the weird, fever dream-esque public access nightmares, like Fun in Balloonland, which never fails to make me laugh.

This, Ballonland and Santa clause meets the Ice Cream bunny would make a scary triple bill!

I'm kind of disappointed that Mrs.Velma and Whizzo never made a movie together. It would have made the nightmares of young children for decades to come. 😥

Oh this isnt to bad Snob between being abducted by Kirk Cameron and a CGI Tom Hanks on the polar express it looks fairly safe with a clown named Whizzo. 22 minutes later oh i understand now. I would like to extend warm christmas greetings to everyone in the large Stoned Gremlin family and all supporters of the channel.

I don't know. Whizzo the Clown seems more... wholesome compared to the dystopia of Balloonland and the madness of Miss Velma. Just a guy who's been a performer his whole life and wants to entertain kids.

I grew up in Topeka and remember Whizzo on tv from KC although I had never seen this. We also had another local clown show around this time in Topeka called "Bumpo" the clown portrayed by Gordon Jump who you may remember as "Mr. Carlson" from WKRP in Cincinnati and later in commercials as the Maytag repair man.

Hmmmm, can’t tell if I should make a it reference or a joker reference.

So Fun in balloon land, Velma and those past ones have all been genuinely horrifying and insane and seem to serve no purpose to anyone, but this... I dunno, there is some endearing qualities here. I'm not a fan of clowns just as much as the next guy but I mean, he seems perfectly serviceable. CS's quips are still hilarious as always, but this guy, not as *fucking insaaane* as the others.

How do you find these things?

If you were a kid before 1973 or so there was the "Saturday Matinee" nothing like the high dollar award winning stuff kids have now. Achingly bad live action crap with bad costumes, horrible "furry" mascots in big fake heads, dreadful low budget animation. Think Pinocchio in Outer Space. Non acting "actors" "Special effects" that insulted a tube worm, and no perceptible story. As often as not imported from other countries for nearly nothing, and dubbed with incredible ineptitude. It was assumed that kids went to the movies to run around and throw popcorn, and that we would watch any sort of crap that was up on the screen. This formula worked for the 50's and the 60's, but thankfully was pretty solidly dead by 1975.

Me and my older sister was on the local "Ramblin' Rod Show" in Portland, Oregon in 1975. I think I was 4 and started crying at some point, think I lost a game and didnt get a prize . Damn local tv network entertainers and clowns that once corrupted the airwaves.

I saw this a couple days ago with the Rifftrax commentary. As distrubing as this thing was the short they showed before they showed this was a little bit creepier.

I saw the Rifftrax guys do this. It's bad, but about what you'd expect from a Kansas City local UHF program. I can't really diss on it. Although that poor kid that sounded like she had bronchitis or something.
