The trumpet player is Bill Ortiz, famed SF Bay Area musician. He's also my trumpet teacher and a wonderful man, as well as talented player.

@willmercury I saw Santana and Jeff Beck on the same night. Beck Came on first and emphasized his smooth jazz based tunes. In doing that it paved the way perfectly for Santana's set. After Carlos and his crew finished their set Carlos brought Jeff on stage to play a tune together the tune they played was this /watch?v=SfcnIMZq6is it was a great guitar duet by 2 masters that were not in competition..the following night they played a Santana tune together (I wish i could have seen that)

Ever notice that out of all the guitar gods Carlos is the least likely of all to over dominate a song? I see him as THE MUSICIAN! That hombre and his band can put a smile on anyone's face that has a brain and a functional set of ears.

He seems to be a respected arranger, NOT EVER a front man, Gawd is he stupid, My point here was, in this version Santana had a bad day, Equal to that of the Shaffer version in the blues brothers.. So pop quiz. Who originally recorded this and never trusted an American record company again? i wonder why.

Faboulous version of this famous hit, one of the best ever...

Santana fan that I am I have to say this left me cold, Maybe if I had been there, Been to four of his shows. Three stunning, I walked out on one, At least this was not the Paul Shaffer bastardized version as in the Blues Brothers, My fave will always be Europa. And in four shows I never saw it live. Even a legend has a bad day. This was just not great.

TO BE FAIR....I want back and watched again, OK Amateur vid, I get it, Camera sound I GET IT!! Add a jib cam, High DEF. No production crew can save this. No offense to Santana but i saw a better version in a Holiday Inn lounge in Traverse City MI.
