Santana was the best guitarist ever; and love Rob Thomas! When my husband and I married in 1973 had 2 albums of Black Magic Woman! Saw Santana in Balboa Park in San Diego. Always wanted to lay on the beach and hear Samba Pa Ti. Finally did in Cozumel! If cancer didn’t take take him; this would have been our 50th Anniversary! Miss him terribly, as do our2 daughters.😢❤

I think this song was the first one that Rob Thomas did without his regular band, Matchbox 20. As for Santana, it was part of their combeback album, "Supernatural". A number of tracks on it had a guest vocalist on it, with this one being the most successful by far, being at the top of the Billboard chart for 12 straight weeks.

I was lucky enough to see him perform live when he was the vocalist of Matchbox 20, and also when he was performing solo. Rob Thomas is a very underrated vocalist, even at his most popular time in the early-mid 2000's.
Going through Rolling Stone mags, Carlos is on the March 16, 2000 cover with great story inside - photo of him at 10 in school seat, book in hand, smiling. Rob Thomas writing the lyrics is told & there is a sidebar on another page where he says "She's my 'Spanish Harlem Mona Lisa,' only she's from Queens, but that doesn't sound as good. So I had to take a couple of artistic liberties with that one." Worked out great & Queens has a wonderful hometown woman.

But I'm an 80s baby and I it amazes me when I watch reaction videos of yours and other people's who don't even know some of these artists and where they originated from. And I grew up listening to them Asa kid or teen from the start of their career. Most people my age in their mid 30s know Rob Thomas best from him being g in the band called Matchbox 20. He js a great singer and song writer. He also has a RU-vid video talking about the song 3 A.M. that he wrote about his mother who used to have cancer. Though some people take it and think of it as a a song about a relationship between a guy and girl... Rob Thomas has a special way of delivering his lyrics in both the verse and chorus. And he is also a kind down to earth sensitive soul. He has SO MANY HITS well known from his band matchbox 20. I encourage you to react to all his matchbox 20 music videos. You will become a big fan. I had such a huge crush on matchbox 20. Amd many people say they are one of the best bands to see in concert. And it's true I saw them and Backstreet Boys and Nsync and Britney Spears, LFO, Limp Bisquit, Eminem Metallica and so many other artists back in the day in concert.
