We stayed at Santee State Park, in Santee, SC, last August. The park sits on the shores of Lake Marion and is best known for the fishing. Lake Marion has hosted various Bassmaster tournaments over the years. The park is also known for its cabins on piers over the water.
There are two campgrounds in the park, Cypress View and Lakeshore. There is also a fishing pier, several boat ramps, camp store, visitor center, and a guide service to take you on a pontoon boat tour of the lake (Fisheagle wildlife tours).
We also ate at Lone Star BBQ, a buffet style restaurant housed in old historic buildings moved to the site. It's near the entrance to the park and well worth stopping in, especially if you can catch a live bluegrass band on Saturday night.
