We've entered the world of RV owners and want to bring you along. Our goal is to travel to all of the South Carolina State Parks. They're each so unique! We aim to show off the special features and especially what makes them great. While traveling, we will explore the areas around the parks and will be featuring nearby restaurants, shops, and entertainment ideas.
We are both business owners and have two young children, so we live busy lives. But, we're out to prove that even in a modern, busy family, you can get out and explore - even if it's one weekend at a time!
For the parks that have camping, we will rely on our Travel Trailer, appropriately named "Katie the Travel Trailer", as a turtle takes its home with it, and so do we. We hope that you'll join us on our adventures and please subscribe.
We were in OBX last year in July. We stayed at the KOA over in Currituck. It was about a 20 minute drive over to the OBX, but it was less crowded just lovely. We really like the area, lost to do and see.
We tried that. We tried every way possible. The customer service folks admitted that it was likely a bad thermo couple and were willing to replace our unit. But, we still returned it for all of the reasons mentioned in the video - it’s way too heavy, can’t be used inside, but must be covered when not in use outside, nothing is dishwasher safe, and (not mentioned in the video, but realized when looking at regular air fryers) the basket is pretty small. It just isn’t practical for our travel needs.
Great video. I really appreciate y’all taking time to do these videos about our state. It helps me plan trips for hubby & I. I found a new campground on Lake Montecello in Blair, SC. Lakeside Family Campground. Check it out. I’m not affiliated with them in any way. Just curious as to your thoughts. Saw it when Dr I get by on our way to Sesquicentennial last month, signed up for their emails, and learned they are new. Young couple. I think I might plan a trip there next summer.
Thank you. I have seen that campground on Facebook a time or two. Our summer is pretty booked up, but we may try to sneak in a weekend at Lakeside sometime. You never know where we may show up!
Thank you, and welcome to camping. It has changed our family for the better. It doesn’t come without its challenges. But, we think that the benefits far out-way the risks and costs.
That's a bummer :( Are you planning on replacing this? I for one would also like options for a propane air fryer. I have the 36 inch beast with 2 fryer baskets and LOVE it! Looking at propane air fryer for my hot dog cart to do corn dogs.
As I said in the video, we’ve returned it and will replace it with a traditional air fryer, but plugged into the 120 volt, 20 amp plug at campgrounds. Not sure which one yet. This was way to heavy, bulky, and came with too many restrictions to its operations for the way the we camp. My wife made a good point today - this may be great for an outdoor kitchen setup at a seasonal site that has a roof structure. It just doesn’t work for us. I hope yours is awesome for you!
Our hunting club is 2 miles up the road. I have only been in the park one time. It looked nice when I was there. We plan on going back and fishing. We have a gator in our swamp/creek that I am pretty sure came from down there but who knows lol. We have only seen it in the summer
We have alligators all over where we live and we don’t worry too much about them. We give them their space and let them be. The staff and both Hamburg and Magnolia Springs take the warnings for alligators seriously.
Not to sound cheesy but it looks as tho yall made lemonade outta lemons!! So sorry to hear of the issues.....we rolled up to Baker Creek. I hooked everything up as usual, cut on the power and water and walked outside. I walked back in to get something and saw all this smoke and it smelled electrical! I ran outside and cut power and sure enough the inside electrical box had basically shorted out and burned up!!! I was ready to pack up and leave but my wife was like, "No"...."we came to camp so lets camp"!! We had a great time!! I hope everyone gets to feeling better and everything gets fixed. Yall be good and stay safe!!
We always try to make the best of every situation. I’m glad to hear that y’all were able to do the same when you had the electrical problems. Also thankful that the situation didn’t get worse and lead to a fire. Happy Camping!!
There is an admission fee for day use of the park. Camping requires reservations and a fee. If you are a SC resident, you can go to your county public library and check out a state park pass, allowing you day use entry without paying the admission fee.
Hello from Cola SC!! We just did the same thing we got the main door lock and two compartment locks all keyed the same. Unfortunately we had a problem in the programming of the new number and we finally got it but....well....it took an embarrassing 40 minutes!!🤣🤣 Oh well we did get it!! Enjoyed the video and we appreciate yall doing what you do!!
A great way to educate your kids and involve them in history. I also appreciate even though you are not a horse person, you included the horse campground information, as it is often very difficult to find information on them.
Now why haven’t we tried Chester State Park! We live 1 hr from there & my husband loves to fish. The airport noise is like being at Myrtle Beach SP which we love & stay at regularly. But we stay at Greenwood & Dreher too. I’m gonna book Chester right now. Thanks guys
Great video as always. We did a day trip to Hunting Island when those ocean side campsites were reservable day-use spots and that was awesome! Went back for another day trip to ride the mountain bikes on the trail, in the heat/humidity of the SC summer and that was awful! haha The bugs were just horrendous. Side note: I love the nonverbal language @12:37 to the kids lol. Thanks for the video!
We tow with the Tahoe that you see in the video. It does have the Max tow package, with the additional transmission cooler and prewired from the factory for the brake controller. Our travel trailer is at the top level of our tow capacity.
You guys do one of the best jobs of campground reviews (especially the individual site info) and hidden gems around the places you visit. I’ve visited several places based on your reviews that I did not know existed - Bee City for one. Roads getting to Vogel was especially helpful since I’m pulling a 30’ 5800lb bumper pull with a Ford 150 6 cylinder. I’ve stayed out of the mountain areas for that reason. Your thoughts on getting up there is extremely helpful. Enjoy your reviews!
We went to Tallulah Gorge State Park back in November of 2022 and absolutely loved it. Those stairs are no joke but definitely worth going down and back up. Also, I agree. That Interpretive Center was definitely top notch to say the least. We were in site 41. Long and narrow. We rode around that loop 3 times before we got into our site. 😅
Nice to see! We have a site here in early March - we've done several SC State Parks - Lake Greenwood, Cheraw (twice), Lake Wateree (three times), Andrew Jackson, Table Rock, Dreher Island, Santee, Little Pee Dee and Aiken (twice). We have really enjoyed them all!
Chester is similar to Cheraw and Little Pee Dee in the fact that they are all small campgrounds on lakes. The way that the community of Chester has poured into this park makes it unique. We hope that you experience that, too. Thank you for watching and commenting.
@@jillelaine5499 Aiken had some & Lake Wateree has a section with them. They all have dump stations and both houses with showers. I have individual videos on several of the parks: South Carolina Campground Favs! ru-vid.com/group/PLQDl0nhgwRymOSPtTx9y7JH-sVcuXH4UA
Thank you for your video! We are planning to meet family there to spend a week together and your info was great to see something other than the Asheville trip to town.
Another great video, guys! I love Poinsett...nothing beats riding the trails then sitting by the lake for the cool down. You did a wonderful job showing the park off...and I love that you kept the paddle boat disagreement in the video haha. Thanks for sharing!
We were able to do whatever we wanted to on our AT&T phones. We don't stream, though. So, I can't speak to the ability to stream. The park is fairly close to town, so I would suspect that most carriers would have adequate service.
We should have a typical review video out in a week or two. I decided to do some drive through videos to see how they do and if people like them. Life has made edit time more limited, so looking for alternatives.
Pretty area especially with the change in the color of the leaves. Bet there would be plenty of shade in the hot summer. I always enjoy y’all’s videos, you all deserve many more subscribers! You all take care and have a wonderful Thanksgiving coming up! 🍁 🍂🏕
Thank you. We don't make these for subscribers or $. But, we do realize thats how the game works. We should have some more videos coming in the next few weeks. Edit time is the biggest issue. Money paying jobs will take priority. If folks like these "drive throughs" we'll keep doing them.
Glad to hear. As much as we wish to be able to "unplug", we realize that there are also some safety issues with not having cell or internet service. We didn't show it, but Sam Henry burnt his leg with hot coffee on the second to last day. It was hard to reach help.
Good job on the video. Useful information on the filming regulations. I hope the ranger was correct as that would be more sensible that just banning it. RU-vidrs have been a major part of their growth since many of these places would never be known without it.
