That Steelers vs Cardinals Superbowl was one of the, screw it, THE most memorable game of my life. So much so that to this day I still respect the Cardinals and would probably root for them if the Steelers were out of contention or I had to pick an NFC team. I still believe Larry Fitzgerald deserves a SB ring more than anyone! I too became a Steelers fan because of that 95 Superbowl game. I just liked the uniforms and I was a child and everyone around me was either a Redskins fan or a contrarian Cowboys fan so rooting for the Steelers seemed to be the most rebellious choice. Then of course similar to Santonio my parks and recreation football team was the Solomons Steelers and it just stuck from there on. Out of all the players I miss from the Steelers, Santonio will always be one of the most memorable because of that phenomenal game winning Superbowl catch... what a moment it was !

This was one of the best plays in the Super Bowl ever, but the Helmet Catch was the most improbable play in Super Bowl History not from just the craziness that happened on the play, but the circumstances surrounding the game. The 16-0 Patriots vs the 9-7 Giants, last chance for the giants to score a touchdown, Eli somehow escapes a sack, and throws a prayer down the middle of the field. Tyree catches the ball on his helmet over Rodney Harrison and around 5 Patriot defenders. A play that will never happen again.

Santonio is the man!! I still remember that game like it was yesterday. I also liked the Martavis Bryant's somersault catch vs. Cinci... That was pretty tight too. Something special about the #10 Stiller jersey and that back right corner of the end zone. LOL! But the Holmes catch, now THAT was clutch,... Superbowl champions right there, otherwise they have to kick the field goal and go into OT... nope nope nope... We got a miracle catch and that moment of Ben falling off the damn bench with excitement and then hugging Hines Ward while both giggle like little boys... that's what it's all about. 'Even today (Jan 9 2022) the Stillers are STILL making impossible stuff happen, how the HELL we got in the postseason is just a miracle. I don't know if we'll go very far, the low seeded teams look awesome, but that's just the Steeler way, underdogs, battling through and making it happen at the last minute. Also, Santonio Holmes got money... enough money to hire a stylist, don't let this poor man walk out to get his MVP trophy wearing argyle over plaid... come on...

They were a wild card team that year I think
@billny33
@billny33 3 года назад
They were 9-7 that year so while kinda understandable, they had Kurt Warner at the top of his game. They had Larry Fitzgerald on one side, they had Anquan Boldin on the other side. Their 3rd option was Steve Breaston, he was solid that year. They didn't have a big name running back but that offense got the job done and Fitzgerald was just on an absolute tear that postseason and Warner knew how to get him the ball. That was the key to their whole postseason. I have a highlight reel video on my channel of every catch Fitz made that postseason that really gets the point home. The Andy Reid-Donovan McNabb Eagles almost got them in the NFC title game (sheesh, how many of those did they lose again) but Arizona won it with a late 4th q TD to get the lead back and then got the stop they needed to seal it. But the Giants that year, they beat both of these Super Bowl teams in the regular season in their buildings. If Plaxico Burress doesn't shoot himself in the leg, the Giants probably make the Super Bowl instead of Arizona, a team I really was not worried about beating us that year, and win it. Instead they fall into a late-season slump (although still had the #1 seed), get knocked off by Philly in the divisional game and the Cardinals don't even have to play them in the playoffs.

2008 was a weird season. You also forgot to mention that this was the year in which Brady tore his ACL.The Patriots still had a good record at 11-5 but failed to make the playoffs. Without the Patriots in the playoffs, the Steelers had a clear path to a Super Bowl.

@@AR-ck8xw Also the Steelers won 2 SB's in the 2000s and didn't have to beat the Pats either time to get there. The Steelers never once beat the Brady Pats in the playoffs in 20 years of being on the same side of the playoff bracket. That blows my mind.
