Wow 100 Khz for the Sanwa, and wow those ranges switch pads look thick and beefy - some good jack support posts on the back panel for the lead sleeves as well, no pushing those out. Nicely made spring mechanism on the range switch as well, and no cobbed main IC - I like it.

as far as I can remember the cd 77x series was released in the mid 90s. I had one way back 2001. the 1st batch was made in japan. the rest was made in taiwan. mine fell on the road and got rolled over by a small dump truck. the plastic case was durable after the accident it had some severe dents but it still worked

Thank you for the review. It was very useful for me because I'm looking for a new digital multimeter to replace my old one. I was really disappointed Sanwa's soldering quality.

You are very welcome! Yes, I was thoroughly dissatisfied and underwhelmed with just about everything about this meter. After 1 year, the rotary/selector switch began to fail. If you want high quality, made in Japan try the Sanwa CD732. I did a review/teardown on the 732 Excellent design, well constructed and very robust meter and only a few dollars more than the CD771.

Hi, Darren! Thanks for the tips. I’ve just seen your review about Sanwa CD732 made in Japan. It looks nice inside and It made much better than CD771. I’m thinking about Fluke 115 because I need a compact digital multimeter with True-RMS, bar-graph, backlight and good working continuity feature. I thought it could be Sanwa CD773 but I don’t think so for now. Thanks for the review again!

@@yuryk6010 My suggestion would be the UT139S (Check out my review) it's about 125$ cheaper than the Fluke, does everything you need plus alot more...it has a super clear screen ebtn display and works very well! There's a purchase link for it at the top of the comment section in the video review. It's one of my favorite UNI-T Multimeters...It has very good input protection as well!

Glad I could help Hazim! The SANWA CD732 should serve you well! I also have the Fluke 87V but more often than not I find myself reaching for my Sanwas as they are superb in their own right. Enoy the meter! www.ebay.com/itm/292412988534?ul_noapp=true Btw I highly recommend using this link to purchase the CD732. The Seller is top notch both before and after sales. He's based in Japan but SHIPS super fast!

Good review, now I'm short listed buying a new Sanwa multimeter between CD 772 and CD 732, which model would you reckon me buying? Currently I'm working in Construction Industry base in Malaysia, which sometimes I have to troubleshoot electricity wiring (AC) installation and electronics instruments (DC) for collecting structural analysis data. And my Budget is up to $80 USD which equivalent to RM 300 MYR only.

I would choose the SANWA CD 732! Firstly, the CD 732 is Made in JAPAN. The CD 772 is Made in CHINA, just like it's brother the CD 771. The CD 732 has a higher resolution (6000 count as opposed to 4000 for the 772/771) display which is also crisper and more vibrant. It does not have a back light but then the back light on the CD772/771 is terrible anyway! The CD 732 also has generally better specs (4000uf/60 MΩ) compared to a meager 100uf/40MΩ for the CD 772/771. Yes the 772 is TrueRMS and does Temp, which the 732 does not and the 732 is not TrueRMS. However, I still think the SANWA CD 732 is a better overall value and better built. Hope that helps!
@hazimmohamad2479
@hazimmohamad2479 6 лет назад
Thank you for replying Darren, at first I was dilemma between 772 and 732 because 772 has trueRMS and temperature reading but not 732. Meanwhile 732 has 6000 counts which would give more accurate reading and it also MADE IN JAPAN. Both has CAT III which is important for me to check voltage at the distribution board (AC). If not for the budget limit, I would like to try Fluke such as 115 or 87v due to durability review. And again I would like to thank you for the clear it up the difference between 772 and 732 for me. If wouldn't for your review, I think I would go for 772. Now I would go for 732 for overall value and better built. Cheers!

Hi @Darren Walker, I really wish to hear your opinion about SANWA Digital Multimeter RD701.. Have you by any chance have encounter that item? Thanks anyway..
@KeepOnTesting
@KeepOnTesting 4 года назад
Sanwa PC700 is a better choice. Almost the same price but has a crisper Dual display, 10k count, better ranges and faster overall. I will be doing a review on the PC700 shortly!
@Jinsh0
@Jinsh0 4 года назад
@@KeepOnTesting But the price is more than double in my place.. CD771 is 95 RD701 is 98 CD772 is 115 PC700 is 235 Im looking for something in the region of 100, thats why I consider CD771/2 or RD701..
@KeepOnTesting

@@Jinsh0In that case, I would pick the CD771.. it has a backlight, well made and is fairly inexpensive.

I would recommend the SANWA CD732 over the 771. The 732 is made in Japan , slightly better features and is only a couple dollars more. SANWA is great quality and you'll definitely love whichever SANWA multimeter you purchase.😀👍

There was 2 ptcs on this unit, no mov's. Input protection was decent, big current shunt and hrc fuse on the high current side...the selector switch was a big letdown however.

There're so many stuff made or assembled in China. Made in China does have great things, but also has a lot of cheap knock off. It's a matter of how to pick and choose. If you are not happy with it, I guess you can return it for refund for most of the time.
