OMG! SaPa has really changed since my wife and I were there. The walking paths look paved! The market looks much bigger! We hit Bac Ha too. I really love Viet Nam....
Wow, when did you go to Sapa? A lot of development has been going on in the last year or two. Soooooo many hotels and construction going on. Many resorts are being built in the surrounding areas outside of Sapa town as well. Kind of a shame that this place is already super touristy, and will only become crazier and crazier, sort of like Ha Long Bay is now just overrun with tourists 24/7. I'd love to visit Bac Ha and Ha Giang areas without a tour so I can freely go wherever on my own time. Thanks for watching and commenting, Bob!
Wow, thanks Michelle! My stuff is so amateur, LOL... I gotta get some better equipment. I'm just trying to do what I can with the stuff I have now, which isn't that great. At least now I have a drone to add an extra dimension to the story telling in my videos. ^^
Thanks for the recommendation. Glad we got to see your funny bone. It's beautiful didn't know Vietnam had tribes, I really enjoyed this great cinematography.
Glad you enjoyed the video! hehehe Yeah, Vietnam has 54 recognized ethnic groups around the whole country. It was really cool in Sapa because a lot of the villagers we met didn't even speak Vietnamese, but they spoke fluent English plus their own language. Very interesting!
Thanks, Brenda. Yeah... I spent a lot of time just staring out at the mountain valley, with the clouds rolling in and the sun shining through. It was literally a slice of heaven.
I was there in Sapa in the rain too this past summer. One of my favorite places in the world now. I would do the overnight train ride from Hanoi to Sapa over and over again if I could.
What an awesome blog Cory! The drone footage, spectacular! We're visiting Bien Hoa, and the northern parts of Vietnan next month. Will contact this tour company for a possible tour of Sapa, thanks Cory!
So far my firsy day in Sapa: heavy rain. We couldn't see anything during the cable car ride. Went to Fansipan Mountain. Tomorrow we are going to 'cat cat village' . I am going to have to come back sometime September or October. I wasn't to get many photos or videos but still will be posting what I have.
Ah, sorry to hear that. It's rainy season now in northern Vietnam, and there are 2 storms hitting Vietnam right now. At least the heat wave is over now and the rains are keeping things cool. Good luck next time!
Awe, Cory I feel like I'm on a cloud in dreamland watching this video it's just takes my breath away! I love the music in all of your videos it adds just the right touch to the mood. Awesome job, hope you will continue to explore every inch that you can. I also love the temples and the statues from your other videos. If you ever have time check out the pictures of the Budda statues in Sri Lanka on the internet they are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing this video.😍
Glad you really enjoyed this video, Liz~ I am definitely going to check out more places and share my videos with you. I'd love to go to Sri Lanka and check out all the tea plantations there!
Do you have your own drone now Cory? Those overhead views are PHENOMENAL! Absolutely love this, man, soooowell done! Love the two dogs too, going for a ride - do it, do it! Ha ha so funny!
Yes, I do. ^^ Glad you enjoyed the aerial footage! I wish I could fly it around Hanoi, but the majority of the city has been "red zoned" as a No Fly Zone because this is the capital city of Vietnam where the seat of the Communist government is located. They are super strict about photos and videos being taken near any of their government buildings. All government buildings, small and big, have armed guards outside 24/7. Anyway... FALKOOOOOR!!!!! hahahaha
That was great! Such deep colors! Loved all the little kids and animals. Probably ions after the rain made the air invigorating. Americans would pay good money to live such a simple existence without the pollutants and stress - the people don’t know how good they already have it. They probably think they would be happier in America.
Thanks Amanda! Yeah, I would totally move to the countryside and live far away from city life if I had the means to do so. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I met a friend who just went on a trekking trip here so I looked around for more visual details and found your for vlog. Thanks for a great content! Can’t wait for my solo trip next year 😁
Sapa is great, but it's rapidly being overtaken by the tourism industry, hotel construction, and things of that nature. Also, the coupon code for the discount was only for 2018, so it no longer works.
As mentioned in the beginning of the video, I did this trip with GoAsiaDayTrip.com. They pretty much arranged everything, including pick up and drop off in Hanoi. It was about a 5 and a half hour drive. If you book with GoAsiaDayTrip, and you choose the hotel option like I did, they will book a 3-star hotel for you. There's no set hotel, as they work with a handful of hotels all with amazing mountain valley views. If you have a specific hotel in mind, maybe you can request it through them, but I'm not sure. If you aren't into the whole tour group thing, you could just go there on your own by sleeper train from Hanoi to Lao Cai, then from Lao Cai take a bus to Sapa, and then stay at whichever hotel you please. Or if you're more adventurous, you could rent motorcycles and do the drive all the way to Sapa yourself. There's tons of blogs about Sapa, so just do some research and I'm sure you'll find the best way to see Sapa on your own if you wanted to. Cheers for watching and commenting!
Very interesting, as usual. I plan to go to the north of Sapa, because of hotels, the grow of tourism, but this town continue to have interest finally :)
Thanks. hehehe I'm just an amateur working with the equipment I have, to me it's not that great, but I'm glad you think so. ^^ You definitely need to visit Sapa if you come to Vietnam!
Feed The Cory thanks for the reply, bro...but not if...lol, i will be in Vietnam in a few weeks for a month, plus Phuong Thao and i will be moving to Da Nang /Vietnam in March of 2019 after i do my taxes, we have considered to live in Vietnam for a duration of 5yrs or longer; and as you can see my wife is Vietnamese born and raised in phanthiet/Mu ine area. We are going to be living in the Danang area come March of 2019, and possibly doing some vlogging as well...etc. But for now our August trip and plans are to hit a mumber of destinations and i believe Sapa is on the list...
That's super cool! My girlfriend and I are planning on moving south around the same time. I want to go to Da Nang (I need the beach and love the climate), but my girlfriend is keen on Saigon (more business opportunities). We will keep thinking about it and make a final decision in a few months.
Feed The Cory Saigon is great but for digital nomad/entrepreneurs, but Da Nang draws more international business attention when it comes to economical and long term investments plus it has a great laid back atmosphere, both for families an a person who's just look to chill, also if you're into the beach life, Da Nang is very suitable for that as well along with cleaner air, wider streets and lots of great attractions as well...etc. financially Da Nang bring in more money than HCMC after all my research on both Saigon and Da Nang. Anyway do you remember the family vlogger ourcuriousgeorgia, well i know them and sean really did a great job on bringing Danang to the forefront and it's beauty.
Yeah, definitely. I've been to Da Nang twice, but never to Saigon yet. I'm definitely into the more chill beach vibes and less people and better air quality. I do know of that RU-vid family, I heard they moved to Bali recently. It would be nice to go to Da Nang and continue sharing from that area.
Feed The Cory yes . Yeah it was awesome. I plan on going there the second time. But this time going alone . Thinking of learning voivinam in Vietnam. And probably possibly date an Vietnamese girl.
Feed The Cory well living there in Vietnam. Is something I am not to sure about. I feel like living in japan or South Korea would fit me better. Since that I am an huge fan of the music and movies from those two countries
Anh ơi, anh có thể làm thêm phụ đề tiếng việt không ạ? Như thế sẽ rất hữu ích với những người không quá giỏi tiếng anh. Tks anh nhiều!
This was actually filmed in the beginning of May, but it was already kind of hot in Hanoi at that time, so it was a good break to get up in the mountains and cool down.
Hi i am going to vietnam in March . SA PA just added to my list after watching your video . Question , is there wifi or hows the internet connection there? Thanks !!
Cory Oooooo have not seen your girlfriend as yet but i am sure she is beautiful :) very professional camera work love the rain ! UK is as dry as a bone at the moment grass has gone all yellow nice to see the green could do with a drop of that rain :) really enjoyed your trip thank's Cory and girlfriend :)
Yeah, she doesn't want her face to be on RU-vid. But you can see us in this picture here: instagram.com/p/BacNnMWFYsq/?taken-by=feedthecory Hopefully the link works. Sorry to hear UK is in a drought of sorts, I hope the rains come soon!
Hey, awesome video! How’d you bring the drone in? Last time I fly to Hoi an in 2017 they kept my drone till I left. Any problems when you flew into Hanoi?
Yeah, the rain was unfortunate, but in the end it made the experience a unique one, and the temperature was very nice. I want to go back some time without a tour and explore everything in that entire region and make some great videos. Didn't really have a "best dish" per say, as the street food options were the same as Da Lat. We did find that the dish you must try is horse meat hot pot, and that's actually the video I'm editing right now. Should be uploaded tomorrow!
Our trekking/walking tours were not too long, just a few hours. You definitely walk down into the valley through the villages, so be prepared for that. At some parts, there are motorcycle taxi guys waiting to give you a ride back up to the top, but they are all going to try and scam you for more than 100K VND. It should only cost around 50K or less for two people on the back of a motorcycle. Your tour guide will help you get one for the local Vietnamese price, or recommend a better way to get back up to the top of the valley. After the tour each day, you have tons of free time to do as you please. Hope this helps!
Actually, this was filmed in early May. Quite a lot of RU-vidrs will film content and then edit and upload it 1 more or more later. hehehe But I'm sure the mountain weather is just as awesome now as it was back in early May. ^^
Noooo... 3 days was too short, but it works if you're only visiting Vietnam and have limited time. My cousins from Korea came a few weeks ago and I sent them on the 2 day 1 night tour since their time was short here. They absolutely loved Sapa!
Oh snap!!! Thanks Brandon~~~~~ For some reason I'm not receiving notifications from Patreon, so I had no idea. I really appreciate your support!!! Cheers!!!
No, it was raining too much to go to Fansipan. The tour was free for me because it was sponsored. You would have to check their website to see what it costs. Unfortunately, my discount code expired. It was only good for 2018.
Sapa is high up in the mountains, so there's plenty of fresh vegetables everywhere. As for vegetarian food, I did see some places that cater towards foreigners with signs that said "vegan" and "vegetarian" but I didn't see too many of those. I wouldn't eat seafood in Sapa because it has to be shipped in from the ocean, which is very far away. So the seafood won't be fresh, and it will be expensive cause of the shipping cost. They do specialize in a salmon hot pot, so definitely try that if you're looking for some kind of fish option. I hope this helps. ^^ Otherwise, Google is your best friend in this situation. lol
Feed The Cory thx for ur reply. Definitely i'll google abt it 😂😂. But still wanna ask those who had been there. Maybe they hv a better suggestion or experience. Ur vid such a helpful to me. Thank u very much again
Hello, your video is very wonderful! And could I use a few your clip for my television news about Sapa, about 10 seconds. Please feedback me! Many thanks!
I can't remember, it was something like Sapa Diamond Hotel. The tour company books the rooms for guests in various hotels around the area, so if you were to book a tour with my link in the description box, there's no guarantee you'd be in the same hotel that I stayed at. But no matter what, you will stay in a similar style hotel with clean, modern facilities.
