it's not just a beautiful note- the fact that she literally soars on the word "down" is such an interesting choice to make. This is a great song, and she's an amazing performer...
My wife had left me after 24 years. She was living across town. She'd been gone for three years and no matter what I did or said, she showed no interest in coming home. In desperation, I sent her this song. She's been home for almost two years now and we are doing just fine. I owe ya one, Sara.
Her voice is incredible. The color in her falsetto is soo gorgeous, particularly @ 1:53. Just the freedom of voice is so moving. And her intonation is spot on. She is so talented, from her singing, to her voice, to her piano playing and her songwriting.
This song hit it dead on when I was trying to get out of a bad relationship with a narcissist. So glad to be hearing it again, 2 years later, free and standing strong,...just the way I’m supposed to be. Thank you Sara for your beautiful voice singing this beautiful song. 💜🙏
She sang the song with full of emotion and pure soulful harmony. Bless You Sara Bareilles.... You're one of the best vocalist ever. Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kesha and the likes can't hold a candle to you...
wow. this must be the 10 different version I have watched. this one is really really good. she is the best female song writer of her generation without a doubt.
it sucks when you know exactly how she feels, not just from the lyrics, but also from the sound of her voice like the the emotion she puts into each note, incredible
I love so much that she sounds just as great live as she does on the cd. I'm so tired of good looking artists with no talent. We need more people like Sara Bareilles in the music industry.
Still listening in May 2018. This song captures heartbreak in such a real way. This song really pulls at the heart stings and her vocal ability is just insanely good.
for me this song is about a soul mate, someone who know, someone familiar and no matter where you go you feel them. they will always have a pull on you. you’re in their gravitational pull and you feel amazing in it.
This isn't a simple song about unrequited love. Please listen to the lyrics more closely. It's about emotional abuse: "You loved me cause I'm fragile... Set me free, leave me be... You're keeping me down."
It's also about love and death. One can still have an affect on you even when they are no longer present. Keeping us grounded but also us wanting to let go.
She is so talented I wish more music artists were as passionate about their music as her, all they want is the cash whereas she truly loves what she's doing
one beautiful song..one beautiful voice...one amazing performance...she manages to feel and show every single beautiful lyric of this song. i just love her. the first time i saw this i cried..it still gives me goosebumps everytime i hear it! great song...great feelings.
Absolutely beautiful. It's been a while since I've heard a perfect song like this. It was sung with such gentleness, yet it was so powerful. She added softness and strength at the right times. Simply PERFECT.
This song is magical, performed superbly by Sarah and I have heard that it is going to be released as her next single. If this doesn't win a grammy then I don't know what will. She is a naturally gifted singer/songwriter who deserves so much recognition. She has a beautiful, pure voice. It is breathtaking.
I've only just now stumbled onto this amazing writer's equally amazing pipes! I've been a serious singer all my life and a professional all my adult life, and she'd slipped through until now, but no more. I am so glad to have found out that this woman's talents exists! Sara, you really made my day!
Sara Bareilles is a name that should go down in history as a musical legend. How lucky we all are that we get to enjoy her music. She's not as well known as the current popular artists and bands whose songs completely border on annoying. Isn't it nearly impossible to find a reason to dislike her? Cleverly written lyrics, soothing piano melodies, and a perfect voice to boot... Sara Bareilles, thank you for coming into our lives. =')
her voice is so beautiful. she has that natural talent. she just sings, like it's not hard at all, its SO easy for her. it just happens, thats truly a gift from God. i would LOVE to see her live.
It's good to know that we are on the same side, because I love this song and I do think that anyone who can't hear this and not feel its depth MUST be dead. I love every version of this song I hear and I am moved each time Ihear it. Glad to know you hear it too!
I love that we all agree. This girl can sing. Almost as real as if she was a part of me. Once upon a time I knew this memory. so sweet and evocative of her personal way of life. She shares the deepest depths of thee. was that a flat note ...hardly a possibility.... come back
Honest to god, she could be one of the most incredible artists in the last 20 years. This song is raw, unbridled passion. The high notes she hits had me on the verge of hyperventilation. Every hair on my body was on end for the entirety of the song. She is a pure representation of what real music is. I find it damn near impossible to keep my cursor of the repeat button. I cant get enough.
Top 5 most beautiful songs I've ever heard and a clear example of how beauty extends way beyond physical appearance. She's an attractive woman, which is a plus, but I fall for her just hearing that amazing voice and touching lyrics.
Something always brings me back to you. It never takes too long. No matter what I say or do I'll still feel you here 'till the moment I'm gone. You hold me without touch. You keep me without chains. I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love And not feel your rain. Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity. Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be. But you're on to me and all over me. You loved me 'cause I'm fragile. When I thought that I was strong. But you touch me for a little while And all my fragile strength is gone. Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity. Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be. But you're on to me and all over me. I live here on my knees as I try to make you see That you're everything I think I need here on the ground. But you're neither friend nor foe though I can't seem to let you go. The one thing that I still know is that you're keeping me down, You're keeping me down Something always brings me back to you, It never takes too long
Some how this beautiful lady with a velvet voice had escaped me until the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show. I've gotten so use to voices from American idol etc., I'd forgotten how incredible a GREAT voice can really be. God bless you dear lady and thank you God for letting me hear and see her.
one of the best version of gravity. i can't get enough of this song. my favourite out of all her songs in her albums. can't wait to see her perform live in singapore in may!! :)
Sara B is an artist of deep sincerity and taste. Those tv talent shows present technical wow factor in singing but never speak directly to the heart like this.
this song has been the story of my life the past 5 years. its crazy how she was able to sum up everything i've ever wanted to say about my first love into one beautiful song.
The first time I heard this song, I wanted to cry because it was so damn beautiful. It's years later and I still want to cry when I hear this song. Definitely one of the most romantic songs ever sung!
