Sarah's Wristlet Pouch & Crossbody Bag is a Rosie & David pattern that offers two sizes. In this video tutorial, I walk you through the construction of both bags step-by-step. The bags can be made from Cork Fabric or Faux Leather for the exterior and the interior is constructed from 100% Cotton Quilting Fabric that is interfaced with WovenFuse2. The Crossbody Bag is approximately 9.5" Wide by 7.25" High by 2.5" Deep. The Wristlet Pouch is approximately 8.0" Wide by 6.5" Wide by 2.0" Deep. I sew the bag on my Juki DDL 8000A. If you would like to sew along with me, you can find the pattern through my link below. I have also listed Timestamps below so feel free to skip around the video as you wish. Thanks for watching! I can attest to the absolute perfection of the drafting of this pattern. As a tester, I have sewn 12 bags so far with 2 more being cut out now! These are beautiful bags, Rosie is a master pattern drafter and excellent videographer! Direction are perfectly clear and concise. This is a gotta have and a keeper!

Love making this bag. It was very easy to put together and your instructions were on point! I'll have to check out your other bag video tutorials. I prefer watching the video tutorials instead of reading the instructions. Some designers instructions are not clearly explained. But by seeing the bag being constructed visually, makes it much easier and more enjoyable to sew a bag. Thank you so much.

Thanks for another fabulous design and video. Your bags are the best I've made because they are so meticulously drafted. A tip that I've learned from many years of sewing clothing and now bags.....I always iron my cotton fabric before I cut it out because sometimes the steam will cause it to shrink. Also ironing the fusible interfacing can cause shrinking also. My way around this problem is to draw the pattern on the back of the fabric and iron the interfacing pieces on before I re-check the lines I've drawn and then cut. This is easy if the interfacing is in the seam allowance but also doable when it's kept out of the seam allowance. Thank you for all your hard work.

Everything about this tutorial is excellent: effective, efficient, organized and thorough, but also well-paced. Good discussion; good visual. I like the tip of using one piece of dst down the middle instead of two pieces on each side of the middle, which is bulky. I also like the double fold on the zipper top; that is much more secure than just one right-angle fold. Finally, the pattern is really well designed. So glad I found this! Thanks!

Hi Rosie from the UK. I have almost completed the Wristlet pouch and it has come together very well, however it struck me that there was no 'd'ring metioned to attach the swivel clip for the hand strap. Have you attached yours to the Zip please.? I would be unable to do this as the fastener is a fancy one with no room to attach the swivel. I think maybe i would have to attach it down the side before i stitch it together. Thank you for a well written and concise pattern . I have enjoyed making it immensely.
@RosiesArtStudio
@RosiesArtStudio 2 года назад
I am so glad to hear that you made the wristlet pouch. You are correct that it does not use a d-ring. In the directions under the materials needed for the wristlet pouch, I say that you need three zippers pulls that you can attach a swivel clip to. So, the wristlet strap does get attached to the zipper pull. Thank you for the kind comments about the pattern and for your me support! Have a great day!

If my contrast vinyl is thinner than my main body vinyl should I interface it at all?
@RosiesArtStudio
@RosiesArtStudio 2 года назад
I am not a fan of heat fusing an interfacing to vinyl, but you would want your main and contrast fabric to be the same thickness. If you are going to heat fuse, test on a small piece first. There are some interfacings that I am just learning about that you can stick on that I am going to be looking into soon to see how I like them. If they work well, that would be ideal for interfacing vinyl. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

I’m a little uncertain as to the thread to use. What weight? And what brands would you recommend? Thank you! I have the pattern. Just getting all the notions and material together.
@RosiesArtStudio
@RosiesArtStudio 2 года назад
My favotite thread is the Gutermann Mara 70. It is a Tex 40 thread. This is what I usually use. You always need to make sure that your machine can handle the weight of thread you are using by checking your manual. Thank you for purchasing the pattern and for watching!

Where is a good place to buy these cork fabrics? JoAnn has maybe 3 mostly natural looking. They also have 18x15 prepackaged ones in nice designs but expensive at $15 for that small amount

Nice vid. Thanks. Classy little bag! Unfortunately there is NO link to your pattern listed in description- I didn’t see one. Perhaps I missed it. 😢. Best wishes for success with your pattern. It’s a really useful size!

Can you use cotton interfaced for back of pocket cause cork is expensive?
@RosiesArtStudio
@RosiesArtStudio 3 года назад
yes…you can definitely do that! thanks for watching.

I use cork for the front side of the exterior pocket then cut cotton for the rest. I also use cotton for the exterior facing. I agree. Cork is pricy.

Hi Rosie:) great tutorial and pattern! Could you please tell me or link to a tutorial on how you get the timestamp in the description to show up on the video itself? I'm trying to upload some videos and everything I've tried doesn't work. the timestamps only shows in the description:( I really appreciate any assistance you can give. hope you have a great rest of your weekend!
@RosiesArtStudio
@RosiesArtStudio 2 года назад
The first to stamp has to be 0:00 for it to work. If you set it up like mine you should be good. Have fun with your videos and send me a link to your channel.

@@RosiesArtStudio thanks so much for responding! right now, I'm just starting out so no videos yet. I and was testing out some videos of a pattern I'm releasing soon. so I added the video, did the timestamp like yours but nothing shows up, though it's clickable in the links in the description.

I would like to start on this today (I purchased the pattern) however I do not have any WovenFuse2. What would be comparable? Thank you
@RosiesArtStudio
@RosiesArtStudio 2 года назад
You can use Pellon sf101. If you do not have that you can use a light weight non-woven interfacing.
@hapaphoto
@hapaphoto 2 года назад
@@RosiesArtStudio I do, have SF101. Would 2 layer of that work to make it more comparable to WovenFuse2 or that’s not a good idea!
@RosiesArtStudio
@RosiesArtStudio 2 года назад
@@hapaphoto it really depends on how much structure you want. Two layers of sf101 would be heavier than the woven fuse 2. You can try a sample with a single layer and a double layer and see what you like best.
