Look, it's simple. If you want to be homosexual just become a priest. Okay, your 'lovers' might be a bit young but at least Catholics won't have a problem with it.
+morderteufel So... How do you account for Muhammad creating the first child sex protection law by increasing the age of marriage from 0 to 14? Yet in the Christian bible god makes some little girls try to seduce their father to test him... Also the christian god impregnates a 13 year old girl... Who was already married to Joseph... So yeah...Might wanna do some fact checking there buddy.
Canadian over here. I'm a moose. That's pretty much it. We don't have too many people living here, so life's pretty good. I hope you enjoy america. (This isn't taunting or gloating in anyway btw)
It feels like I'm on the other side of that fence and its too tall for me to see over. I couldn't possibly know what goes on over there but you talk to me like a friendly neighbor in the other yard, so I have you respect that boundary even though I can't see your yard the way you can. Thank you for your clarity.
Bullying is a horrible experience that causes kids real problems, and in some cases haunts them their whole lives. More than 10 years after High School there are still things that remind me of what happened, and it's still hard to cope.
I love you Sarah. Not only because I think you're a comic genius and do edgy comedy that shocks people into looking at the bigger picture. But because of videos like this too, we should be setting a better example for our kids. I didn't mean our kids, as like you and me having kids... like, I'm not a stalker that's already thought of the names for our kids... Julian and April.
it is not necessarily that they are being called names, it is being brought up believing that millions of people automatically hate you, that schools are not acting on these bullies shows that school administrators don't believe it is wrong to verbally abuse or assault someone because they are gay...sorry for the essay
Wow, I am amazed at the comments! Sarah, you are an brilliant talent and an insightful and intelligent human. I enjoy your comedy immensely and value your sincere viewpoints on important issues. The TED video was great, and I was also amazed you were ever that thin...lol Keep it coming! Cheers!
It's called social progress people. Get on board the train before it leaves the station and your old, crotchety, ideals in the dust. It's not even a political issue; it's a "who the fuck are you to make decisions for other people," issue. Focus on your own problems.
I don't understand how anyone could dislike this.let alone 194 people. Maybe they disliked it ironically or something? I picture adolf hitler wearing a gaypride shirt when I think of this irony.
Well, it makes me happy that you feel that way, because I think that issues that cause discomfort in society should be openly discussed in order to reach a solution. Thank you for your respect, and I respect your efforts to see "the other side of that fence" as well.
Well that isn't true at all. Babies prefer babies with similar traits. For example, if you have a white baby on one side of a room and a black baby on the other, and a white baby is put in, the white baby is MUCH more likely to move towards the otehr white baby, if at all.
In what aspect? I worked in a behavioral science lab for just under two decades before moving into social work. We worked quite a bit with twin studies and the behavior of young children.
Oh, you follow Leviticus? Do you eat shellfish? do you wear clothes made from different fabrics? should different crops be planted in the same soil? should different kinds of cattle be able to graze in the same field? do you cut your hair? these are all rules from Leviticus, and that's just a few off the top of my head. do you follow all of those or do you just pick and choose which rules suit you and your comfortable life?
Uh yes it is. I'm a medical student, and suicide is always related to a past trauma or mental disorder. Suicide doesn't come out of nowhere. I hope you get some more medical and patient experience before thinking suicide is some random occurrence, there is always a root to it.
You are right it won't stop it. However, after segregation stopped there has been LESS discrimination towards people for their race. Making gay marriage legal would help lessen the discrimination.
I don't know what the deal is with the churches. Personally I believe in complete separation of church and state. Let the churches have their tax exempt status and let them behave as racist, bigoted and hateful as they want but don't let them have any legal / political power / influence what so ever. Let each individual church enforce their rules on marriage as they see fit. But I don't think a religious marriage ceremony should have any legal status at all. If this is really all about a word...
... then allow domestic partnerships to be the only partnership that has legal status. Let marriage be a religious thing but married or not a couple would have to then file for a domestic partnership to have the legal rights afforded to them, such as filing jointly for taxes, receiving death benefits, and making spousal decisions when your partner is in the hospital. I'm an atheist and I had a non-religious ceremony but no one bats an eye at the legality of my marriage because I'm a woman ...
I said past trauma, too. Read my comment again. Bullied children will develop mental issues. Which can lead to depression which can eventually lead to suicide. My point is simply, the path to acting out suicide doesn't just come from random thoughts, there is a background. Google "Duke University bullied children can suffer lasting psychological harm as adults".
Those were specific laws that applied to the Israelites at that time. Always thought Elisha was a bit harsh on those kids and wanted to know more details about that story and hopefully will one day.
Fact is religion is supposed to be seperate from the state laws according to our constitution. It doesn't matter what any religion says.Marriage was originally a religious ceramony. But marriage has been accetped into our government as a legal document and should therefore be made available to any couple. If you don't like gay marriage.Don't go to a gay wedding. My best friend's religion says she has to be a vegan.Doesn't mean she's going around trying to ban meat from everyone else.Grow up people
I understood you. But what you don't understand is that homosexuals aren't trying to force any kind of agenda on anyone. They are trying to get their own rights. The church can have their opinion but that should have no bearing on whether or not homosexuals have the right to marry and why should homosexuals sit quietly and allow themselves to be denied their rights?
I don't understand your statement. I'm a white woman married to a black man. There was a time in this country when that wasn't legal. Making it legal didn't force non-interracial couples to get a divorce and put their kids up for adoption. No one changed their life style, it just gave interracial couples the right to get married. I'm in a heterosexual marriage. I have a 5 year old son. Legalizing same sex marriage won't force me to divorce my husband and marry a woman. So how is anyone ...
And that's the whole point: how can we shame someone for something they didn't choose? Something over which they had no control at all. It would be like blaming the airport receptionist for the rainstorm that caused your flight to be cancelled. Morals regulate people's choices, not their natural conditions. Being gay is just as wrong as being white, or tall, or having blue eyes. Not wrong at all, that is.
Oh my days this was so powerful... Like, literally, that is such a great way of putting it, and it's so true. Kids learn hate from adults, it's simple, and then because they learned it, so they then teach it to the next generation, hate building upon hate. Stop hating upon people who are different from yourself!! Open your Mind, Close your Mouth, and Open your HEART! And you will learn something! And we can all learn something from each other, to make the world a better place for us ALL!!! :D
She said "they" shouldn't wonder where all of the bullies come from because they learned it (it being how to be a bully) from watching "them" (the people who are against gay marriage & against openly gay in the military). Then she goes on to say that "they" are responsible for tortured kids and for the suicide of picked on kids. She implies, & intended to imply, that the bullies are anti gay marriage and anti gays in the military.
This is why I love ya, Sarah. Fuck what everyone else has to say. Bringing non-related crap into it as always when it comes to this kinda stuff. You say it like it is with good intention.
Why do you think verse 27 mentions lust? It is pretty clear. See, the Holy Spirit gives you an understanding of the Scripture. 1Co_1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1Co_2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I do not base my beliefs on one verse, but the entire Bible.
She's not being politically correct. If you know Sarah's work you know she's not politically correct. That's how she actually feels. She can have genuine feelings like any other human.
...married to a man. I personally don't give a damn about the term marriage. I'm committed to my husband and I know it. If someone wants to call my marriage a domestic partnership simply because it's not a religious relationship, fine. But then it should be a rule that applies to every couple, heterosexual or same sex and "marriage" should be a non-legal term that holds only religious meaning and same sex couples would then only be able to have a religious ceremony in a church that accepts...
It mentions women in verse 26. Homosexuality would fall under the category of un-natural sex. I never said a man liking a man was sin. The act of sexual activity between the two is sin.
Also, if you believe in anyone being "meant to be", it means you believe that people are not only created, but created with a purpose, which is chosen by their creator. You must believe in a divine will that decides what everyone is meant for. If that is the case, that's all the more reason why you should not question nor abhor homosexuality, as it is a natural characteristic over which people have no control. In short, God makes gay people. On what basis are you able to question God's will?
She didnt' say that part of them or some of them learned being a bully from watching "you", she said ALL of them learned it from watching "you". You're going to have to try to spin what she said on someone else. This is a ridiculous conversation. She said what she said and you practicing your politician spin skills won't change what she said. She blames 1 side for gay teen suicide and bullying in this video. It's as clear as day.
In the western world, the US is the biggest hardass when it comes to gay rights. Probably becuase it's one of the most religious western countries too.
I'm glad you stopped to think about it. I feel it should also be noted that, whether you endorse it or not; whether you think it is or ain't right, your children might still grow up to be gay, as children all around the world have done through all periods of human history, regardless of their parents' opinions on it. It's unreasonable to ask them not to be gay, as much as it is unreasonable to ask you not to be straight. I take it you didn't try being gay and then chose to be straight, right?
The "cause" spoken of mentions "lying with man", nothing of sexual intercourse. The act of "lying" is not literally "sex". This could be like 2 boys at a sleepover. They "lie" together. Ah, again, you are interpreting. If taken literally, 1:27 has no mention of lesbians (meaning that is fine). Translated, this speaks of "function" and not "preference". This "function" is the act of un-natural sex, not the "preference" of homosexuality.
People need to stop arguing semantics in a social debate. Socially, there are racially Jewish people, you can "technically" call them what ever you want, and there are religiously Jewish people. People will argue semantics to be right when that's all they have left to argue. My argument still stands and holds WAY more water than any of the semantically fueled adolescent arguments. Again, there is a Jewish faith or religion and there is a Jewish race. May not be specific, but it's still accurate.
