Using voice as a way to keep time is so rarely mentioned in Western drumming...this is SUCH a revelation! It's obvious in Indian drumming/music but not in Western music! PLS make more such content.
Great stuff! The thing about vocalising is so right - it's super key to learn the "odd" time signature - I completely agree. I was told this from an old jazz-dude that went: "fuck your instruments for a while - let's sing all our parts first - get the hang off it" - and I just looked at him, as a drummer, going whaaaaat? And he just drum-kitted with his mouth (not beat-boxing or anything like that) didn't even sound remotely "like drums" and I totally got it after shedding the "shame" of using my voice. "OGGODOBA" is my favourite "drum sound"; it can mean anything from base-base-tam-snare - to snare-snare-crash-crash. And by the way - the talent you have - amazing. Truly amazing. I bow in awe. The force is strong in you :)
